I know a big win cannot make me back off from gambling, and as such, it underscores the variety of incentives for gambling, just as you mentioned.

But, @slapper (boss), I don't seem to get your point of view on this matter. Would you rather shun gambling if, peradventure, you make a win of $200k, or, let me just say, if a casino offered to pay you off from gambling with the sum of $500k and ask you to stop gambling in your entire life time (you can call it an imaginary miracle of me), would you be able to ignore gambling?
I think it is almost impossible especially for those who enjoy gambling. No matter how much money you pay a gambler cannot get rid of gambling for the rest of his life. Although 100K or 500K is a big deal for a normal gambler but if he is a regular gambler then he must indulge in gambling . Money will never stop him. In this case I would say that it is not an easy task. Even a responsible gambler can find it very difficult to come back from gambling because a gambler always enjoy gambling not only the money.

Can you quit gambling if you make a life changing money and never go back to gambling?

I asked this because those who made some money through gambling near me always go back to gamble and they end up losing everything they once made through gambling.

Is it fine to say that people should not go back into gambling once they made high amount of money? Because the chance of losing that money again is very high, even if they don't use all the money to gamble at once, gambling can take it all back in time.

Have you ever won a high amount of money from gambling and managed to not lose them all back to gambling? And to date, you are still gambling?
I don't know why but it seem like all the thread and topics in the gambling board is just a repetition of always said and discussed issues, most users just tend to repeat same topic over and over again. Well everyone knows by now that to stop gambling its not easy especially if you are addicted to it but the issue here is that most addicted person never actually know they are addicted and doesn't realize the urgency to stop this act of their or should I say problem.

I agree, topic like these keep on repeating, the same way the issue with gambling addiction never stopped increasing just like history that keeps repeating itself.  Aside from that gambling topics like this often get locked so people who are having some questions and issues that they wanted the opinion or insight of others tend to create a topic just to talk what they have in mind.

Anyway, how easy or how hard a person to quit gambling is depending on their level of being hooked on gambling.  If a person is addicted, then it will be hard for a person to quit gambling since the uncontrolled urge is already affected the gambler.  While a person who have full control of himself can easily quit.

Maybe no, but I will save the larger proportion of my money in savings and other business but I will always play gambling. I treated gambling as an entertainment not as a source of income, if I will be lucky and get that huge amount of money they that could be great but in this life I will never treat gambling as my only hope.
This looks healthier, and indeed all gamblers should be able to do something like this. Gambling for the purpose of entertainment only, I agree with you, which is where I will gamble when I feel stressed because of work and only to fill my spare time when I feel bored. But the problem is that most of them are too ambitious in gambling, and always have more hopes for a win, so it's not uncommon for them to make this their main livelihood field. Without them knowing that this is a gamble where they will win when luck comes.

I agree with you. For a gambling addict, they can only stop when all money and assets run out on the gambling table/slot machine. Indeed gambling is fun, anyone can gamble, but say no to becoming a gambling addict

After the gambler loses all his money the next step would be to borrow money. They will not stop, they will find ways to pursue their addiction. This is the biggest problem of an addict. If they are unable to borrow money then they would start selling things from their house or start stealing. Unless they get help they won't stop and would continue to find ways to feed their addiction.
This is what is so scary about an addiction, if people lost all their money because of it then that would be bad enough, but that is not the end of the story, a great deal of the people that are addicted then begin to lose the money of their loved ones, and since money is such a sensitive topic it is not surprising that when their family members find out what happened a great dispute takes place, and the people they need the most in order to recover from their addiction are the ones that end up abandoning them because of their actions.

If one of my kids started stealing things from the house to sell and gambling with the proceeds, I would tie him up in the basement and keep him there until he realized what his mistake was. In the nineties in my country, drug addiction was treated this way in the first drug treatment clinics. You can be sure that after a person has spent a week or two in such a state he will have enough time to analyze his actions and not make any more mistakes. Most people become addicted because they allow themselves too much. If they don't know how to limit themselves, you need to help them and I think the methods can be tougher than we are used to.

To be honest, it's not easy for me to quit gambling. But I gamble only for fun. So I gamble for some adrenaline and some dopamine. I am sure that one day I will definitely not lose control if I win a lot of money while gambling. Because I know why I gamble. If a person manages to control himself, it is okay for him to go back to gambling, even if he wins or loses money from gambling. I don't think it's about luck. I think it's a matter of willpower. We cannot control our luck. But we can control our willpower.
Gambling is a deadly addiction, but it is not for everyone. Gambling is a deadly addiction for those who cannot control themselves while gambling. There are some people.  People who gamble often lose control of their money.I think it's fine if you gamble in your free time. But if you choose gambling as a way of income, it can be a big disadvantage for you.

There's addiction in gambling but that does not applies to everyone that they are a gambling addicts, only the few ones who were unable to maintain theirselves while gambling under a controlled gambling atmosphere and go too far and wild with gambling leaving other things ought to be done left undone because of their addiction, they barely create time for other constructive developments profitable to their lives than focusing on gambling only all the times.

Not applicable to all since there are people can easily learn from the mistake they do and they make sure that they are not dealing with it to much because this can create big trouble to them. Realization after you play the game is big factor for a person to not get ins situation where they can't control theirselves and became gambling addict. But also for sure those people experiencing this dark situation happen to them can pass this condition and they became well discipline gambler when they experience the bad side.

To make a general review about all gamblers I can say that I have observed that the extra winnings in gambling actually condemn these people to gamble more. I have never come across a gambler who made regular or high winnings from gambling seriously and then stopped gambling.
I'd argue that the person just didn't win big enough no? I mean I certainly wouldn't stop for pennies, and the value of "pennies" can be rather subjective depending on your position in life. I'd say any amount are pennies for someone truly rich but that's just a what if scenario, but you get my point.

As I've said before a big win is more than enough to stop me from gambling further, but said win would probably amount to upwards a $1M at least. Enough for me to not give a damn about money problems till I die.

The amount of winning is of course a factor that varies from person to person but what I want to tell here is that for a gambler to express that he/she has made a big profit, it is due to the fact that he makes a serious profit as a percentage not as a unit. For example, a gamble with a profit of 10,000% ensures that 1 unit of money is become 10,000 units but 10 units of money are also become 100,000 units. This actually depends on the gambler's budget because a gambler with a 10 unit budget would certainly not want to lose all of that budget with a single game and will determine the stake accordingly.

Another example can be made by stating that the amount of 1M$ that may be sufficient for you may not be enough for someone else.

If they are unable to borrow money then they would start selling things from their house or start stealing. Unless they get help they won't stop and would continue to find ways to feed their addiction.
from here we know that the importance of good self-control in gambling always has a better mindset about gambling is just a place to please oneself without having to spend a lot of money and without having to expect big wins because casinos will never lose and gamblers will always lose .
from this mindset, gamblers can always control themselves not to think too much about the big things of gambling, so there is no chance of becoming an addict.

btw, if someone is already a gambling addict, there will always be a way to continue to be able to vent their addiction unless a family member provides assistance.

I guess I've experienced it before Grin

At that time, I was trying to win the slot game but it turned out that emotions provoked me so I used all the money instead. But fortunately, I didn't borrow money to go back to gambling but went home and went straight to bed, even though it took about 1 hour or so to think about what happened to me at the casino.

Since then, I have started trying to limit myself to gambling, including using money. I finally realized that in gambling, there must be wins and losses, but we often get lost. So before our losses become big, we must be able to stop and leave the casino.

Wrong, a gambling addict cannot easily quit just because they have lost all their money.
Have you forgotten that in gambling there are lots of gamblers who are willing to borrow money to continue the game so they can get back the lost money?
There have been many cases in gambling about gamblers borrowing large amounts of money to continue playing.

One way to stop is when someone has no income and no one believes in him to lend some money.

Yes, I can quit gambling easy if I achieve life change money from it, I will use the money to set up a good business that will be bringing income to my account and also keep me busy from morning till night so that I will not be thinking of gambling for the rest of my life.

I'm not sure about your statement. Most people who lose at gambling will make another deposit, they do that until they get a win. After bigwin comes, greed keeps them playing until they lose again. Maybe they made a withdrawal, but I'm sure they will deposit again because they think earning money from gambling is easy.

If you can keep yourself busy with your work activities or hobbies, you may be able to quit. But it's not easy, most people fail to get out of the gambling circle, especially those who are already addicted to gambling

I know it will be hard for some people to quit gambling even though they win life change money from it, their mind will still be there because that is where he or she got the money from and such person has addicted to it and it will take a long years before such person can quit gambling.

Indeed, it may seem that some threads or posts seem repetitive, but topics like this are in great demand to be discussed by gamblers who maybe they have some experience and share stories or experiences with other gamblers and can be said to be repetitive threads that can remind novice gamblers not to think too seriously about income or profits from gambling to not become a gambling addict.
Because if the gambler thinks about the big multiplier, the desire for a big win that ends in an emotional feeling of chasing defeat, then he has the potential to become a gambling addict.
After becoming a gambling addict, it will be very difficult for this person to stop gambling because they are still disturbed by the emotional feeling of losing money at gambling, so they have no thoughts of stopping gambling.

I don't think so. Because not everyone comes to gambling only for earning money. Many gamblers who lose money but do not get discouraged and return to gambling. They consider it as entertainment. It's not that they get too excited if they win money at that point. They try to enjoy real pleasure from gambling. People who love gambling can never stay away from gambling even if they win big. But if there is someone who chooses gambling only for income and gets a big jackpot then the matter is completely different.
but if we count as a whole some gamblers think gambling is a place to double money, as a source of income or daily income so they really depend on winning and always trying to win and behavior like this it will be difficult to gamble because they are constantly chasing losses for profit but the casino always wins .
In contrast to gamblers who consider gambling only for entertainment, they prefer to gamble with money they can afford to lose, and of course with small amounts without expecting anything big. so that gamblers are very easy to stop gambling whenever they want because they have better control.

but unfortunately there are more gamblers who consider gambling as income compared to gamblers who consider gambling as a place of entertainment.

Sometimes I wonder why gamblers are being entertained, is it the game or the chance to win money?  Gambling games are repetitive and the music is always on a loop so sooner or later player will be tired of playing and listening to the music, but the adrenaline rush from bets will always be the one players are looking.  The feeling of excitement of whether we will hit big or not in every roll we made.  Come to think of it, the entertainment we felt is actually the hope in trying our luck to win the roll.

Easy to quit for a while, easy to stop betting frequently or limit hours spent on gambling.

Very hard to stop completely.

Most gamblers find it easy to limit their activity and go from daily gambling to doing it on weekends. Staying away from betting for a month or two is usually hard. I'd probably be able to limit myself to doing it once a month, but I'll probably never stop because it's a social activity for me. I'd have to change all my friends and stop going out Cheesy

It is easy to quit gambling if a person is not attached to it yet but when a person become attached to gambling to the point of gambling addiction it will be hard to quit gambling.

Can you quit gambling if you make a life changing money and never go back to gambling?

This depends mainly on the level of previous addiction. For someone who is heavily hooked, it would not be uncommon for them to end up gambling all their winnings and more. For a person like me, who uses gambling rationally, in a controlled way and with money to spare, if I win a good jackpot I'd better go on a trip and not bet again for a while, as I know the odds are against me.

With good control and limitations, you can achieve not to play for a while to enjoy the amount of your winnings, though it's already
depends on how much you earn.

If you win huge or something like winning the jackpot that can be life changing opportunity, with such controls, you will be able to stop and
find other alternative to kill your time or keep yourself busy with investing your money whatever form you choose to bring those earnings.
There are people who do engage in gambling but having that good self control and discipline towards self on which you can really say that it would really be just that fine if ever they would really be engaging into something not only limited on gambling but also in other things as well. It is really that good when you are really that having that control because you wouldnt really be finding yourself experiencing those common
problem or outcome specially on gambling field which is mostly pertaining about being getting addicted and losing up tons of money. Playing constantly doesnt mean that you are already addicted,
i have known someone which does have that kind of behavior towards gambling and even up to now he do stick on the amount that he had planned to spent no matter what, he dont really go to the limit
or cross the line which i could say that it does really need up that strong mental strength and emotion handling when it comes to this but not all would really be having that kind of
capability and most of them do really fall out into addiction.
