Less than one week to go for the semifinal games of EFL Carabao Cup between Arsenal and Newcastle United

~snip

I really like Newcastle's game as well this season. They have been getting positive results and Isak is also in great shape. I believe they can make difficulties for Arsenal tomorrow. However I still see Arsenal one step ahead of course. Even without Saka they showed how strong they could play recently. I haven't seen Arsenal's name on an EFL Cup for a long time. I think they will make it to the finale and most probably they will find Liverpool against themselves. Smiley It would be the best finale for the league cup to be honest.
Even if arsenal should win this one it going to be a very difficult one, arsenal are having injury crises especially in that attacking line. Saka is out  and also Ethan Nwaneri who have been replacing him is also out injured. Newcastle on the other hand have been in a very good foam so for sure I know they will cause arsenal a lot of problems tonight. We could probably see a draw in this match.

And the day has finally come, as the semi final begins. Arsenal/Newcastle will play today, while Spurs/Liverpool will play tomorrow. I think this semi final looks very interesting, as it involves two north London sides, and two other top sides as well. Truth is, which ever side makes it to the final will still give as something interesting to watch. Just imagine having a north London derby in the final, or a Liverpool/Arsenal game in the final, or A Newcastle/Liverpool game in the final. I can't just wait.

As for the game tonight, well, Arsenal have a very good chance to advance further, even though their recent games with Newcastle has been very tricky. I think they might want to get the job done, even if it has to be done roughly. I'm not sure of the current fitness of the squad, because from the last game, it seems lots of players were sick. But, we can only wait for the game. Good luck to both sides.
Well the four teams remaining are all big side and which ever team that ends up in the final will definitely give us an interesting final. Tonight Arsenal takes on Newcastle and for sure it a big one at the emirates. Newcastle have been in an incredible foam so far, they are now on a six games winning streak. Arsenal on the other hand have some key players injured and for sure they will miss them in tonight game. Alexander Isak is currently on an incredible peak and seeing him on the scoresheet tonight is expected. I can’t really say who is going to win this one but we have a big game coming up

Arsenal and Newcastle match is a little bit more complicated thought since Newcastle could show some good performances and gunners have their weak moments.
Overall both games are interesting and worth to be followed Wink
Yeah I also have the same thoughts on the match. Because I believe Newcastle can give a surprise beyond our predictions.
On the one hand, Newcastle's condition in the EPL is very stable and is starting to show evidence of very consistent improvement. While Arsenal has a slight decline in player productivity.
I also have the same assumption as you think that logically it would be more appropriate for Liverpool and Arsenal to be in the final round. But sometimes in a competition like this it gives a very ridiculous surprise and I think Newcastle is also chasing the title in the EFL this time after having a big increase and certainly stronger confidence.
It seems that in the first leg of the semi-finals both teams scored the same score and it is likely that Newcastle can put strong pressure or even beat Arsenal.

Although Newcastle United is a good team, Arsenal is in a much better position right now. Although Bukayo Saka's absence affected them a lot, they still continued to perform. I don't think they are playing badly at all despite their missing players. I believe they can be successful in the Newcastle matches and advance to the next round. I think Liverpool will be the winner of the EFL. Of course, there is no guarantee in the finals, both teams have a chance to win in the final. In my opinion, Liverpool will be one of the finalists and will win the match. Because stopping Liverpool is a big problem at this time.

I'll really love the finals to be between Arsenal and Liverpool but then I'll have to wait for the outcomes of the Semi-finals between Arsenal vs Newcastle and Spurs vs Liverpool. Anyways the match between Arsenal vs Newcastle is going to be a very tough one and quite difficult to predict due to the current form of both teams, Arsenal in their last 5 matches haven't lost any, they won 4 and drew 1 while Newcastle won all 5 thereby giving them a good form to face Arsenal in this competition, they're tough this season and difficult to beat so it's not going to be an easy win for Arsenal even though the bookmakers favours them mostly, after what i saw happened in the Coppa Itália, i don't think I'll be quick to crown Arsenal the winners cause Newcastle are capable of showing resistance just like AC Milan did against Inter, Moreover this is their opportunity to get into the finals and try to win a trophy this season so they'll take it very seriously.

Getting to this stage of the EFL competition, uncertainty about winning the trophy isn't anything to be worried about for teams like Liverpool and Arsenal or Manchester United , however, it's still boils down to priority. What the club coach prioritise, which is usually the EPL and the champions league, other trophies like the EFL is just an extra laurel for the season.
Especially for Liverpool, they are currently at the top of the EPL standings and are dominant in the UCL compared to other teams. Of course, both trophies are more prioritized than the EFL. However, if we look at the flexibility of their calendar, it is not impossible that Arne Slot will try to win the EFL trophy to complement the success of managing Liverpool in his first season.
Meanwhile, for other teams with smaller chances in other competitions, they might prioritize the EFL rather than having nothing at the end of the season.
EFL was the last trophy which Liverpool got with Klopp and as defending champion i am sure they want to defend their title in this competition and Liverpool currently have reach to semifinal match so if Liverpool can win over Tottenham later then automatically they will went to the final match which mean they will be very close to the trophy and i am sure Arne Slot will be serious and give his priority for this competition because all of Liverpool players had an ambition want to gets the trophies from all the competitions they are currently playing including Carabao Cup
If Liverpool play in their high quality form, Tottenham will suffer defeat from them, because Tottenham is not a good position to withstand the pressure from Liverpool. Liverpool have good strikers and that will male it more easy for them to create chances and score goals. Liverpool is so mean this season, and if possible, they will win more than one trophy this season.

Tottenham's coach, Ange Postecoglou made a statement in an interview after a defeat in a derby match by Arsenal, he said "I ALWAYS WIN THINGS IN MY SECOND YEAR!" this ìs his second season since he arrived at Tottenham, midway of 2023 and he's managed to beat Manchester United and advanced to the Semi-finals of the EFL, however he'll be meeting the most inform team in the EPL and it's going to be a very difficult task, anyways let's see how he'll handle the situation and if that statement of his would be realistic. Well, based on form I expect Liverpool to win and advance to the next phase of the competition and probably win it but Tottenham got the home advantage in the 1st leg and more support from fans so it could boost their chances and motivate players to do better on the pitch, let's see how it goes, can't wait for the scheduled date of the 1st leg, which is on the 21st of this month.

Yeah for clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool, mostly Liverpool though winning the premier league and champions league are the main priority. Bother Clubs have won it in recent years, so the club itself and the fans don’t actually rate their season by winning this trophy but it like a bonus to them and it also boost their morale to fight and win other trophies. Clubs like Newcastle and Tottenham will fight so hard for this trophy because it might be the only trophy they will win for a long time. Tottenham haven’t won any trophy for almost 2 decade so winning this trophy will be a very big achievement for the club and it fans, so I believe spurs will fight for this trophy with everything.
Also with Newcastle too, the last time they won a trophy was a championship trophy in 2017, winning this trophy will be a milestone stone achievement to them.

The EFL Carabao cup isn't a competition that many English teams hold to a high esteem as they do with the EPL which is what makes them field in either their complete second team in those games or a mixture of the team B and A to reduce fatigue amongst its players for vital competitions. I'm essence what am saying is that we might end up seeing Liverpool field in a few team B players in that game against Tottenham Hotspur which we probably will not see that intensiveness we expect from Liverpool in the game because right now their major priority is winning the EPL trophy more than anything.

As for the game between Arsenal and Newcastle united Arsenal seem to be better in that tie and would definitely manage to find all three points against Newcastle who haven't really been consistent like they were in last season campaign.
Lida, if you are a manager and you have shuffled your team from the beginning of the season, managing it to reach EFL semi finals and final, you will not take it seriously in the name of, it's EFL or not.
I like how you started your question about the team reshuffling. As a  coach and if I had started with reshuffling then the right thing expected to do is to continue with same reshuffling pattern despite the stage of the competition reached because it was that pattern that got the team to the semi's and perhaps the finals.

Most teams are not even sure of the EPL title, so they take the one they see. This is the reason why I was upset at Ruben Amorim for not taking the EFL seriously and try to win one trophy or title for himself this season.
Anyways, I am expecting to see Liverpool Vs Arsenal in the finals of the EFL if things go as expected.

The two matches looks complicated in my opinion, any of these teams can make it to the final because they are all better teams that all have the intention of winning something this season especially Arsenal.

Newcastle United will tray their best, but Arsenal will do more in order to be safe in the cups even if they end up losing the EPL title.

Liverpool have all they need to win the match, but Tottenham can be a team that will be very difficult because both Liverpool and Tottenham can win the match.

It was quite difficult for Man United to turn things around in this match, they were already three goals behind Spurs after the match entered the 46th minute. They had previously done it when facing Man City, but the three-goal gap was quite far. Man United did manage to catch up and reduce the goal difference, but the goal scored by Son in the 88th minute was the deciding factor in who would emerge as the winner in the match.

And regarding the goal scored by Son, this was a very beautiful goal, go; created from a corner kick and we saw how the ball flew far past several players, and curved towards the second goal post. This is a very rare goal, a fantastic goal.
I've been curious to ask this question, Ange Postecoglou knows confidently how to handle Manchester this season. He dealt with Pep Guardiola and Ruben Amorim this season, beating the Citizens and the Red Devils twice, he deserved some accolades already, taking Spurs to be twice stumbling nightmare for Manchester clubs. There are more errors following the 4-3 defeats of Ruben Amorim side to Postecoglou. They conceded early and late goals thereby leading to the demotivation of the players, but they will bounce back more stronger next season, that I know for sure.

Spurs eliminated Manchester United from the Carabao Cup and you expects Manchester United fans to wear on smiling faces? Amorim and the players will try to work things out because this was never the intended motion for the new manager, he expected to brings things back to the way they was, more like in the era of Sir Alex Ferguson where he triggered big winnings for the club, lifting major trophies with the club but there's no such scene today for the Red Devils. Other than blank hopes that will always end up not happening in reality. Fate becomes the second mid-name for Manchester United.

The first half went well for crystal palace and in fact they were able to keep up with arsenal game, but as I said above, the quality of the players and also the mentality was the difference in the match, the inclusion of Saka has had a positive impact on arsenal  attacking line, because in fact his penetration into the opponent defence has destroyed the concentration of the palace defence, and this allowed gabriel jesus  to score a hat trick with easy, tomorrow match will be an opportunity for the crystal palace squad to avenge their defeat, so I think  now they has learned from the defeat in the EFL and focus on winning the match against arsenal in the EPL later.

It would be a shame to miss it, the Arsenal vs Palace match in the Premier League will start soon, just a few minutes away. And maybe tonight I will stay up late so I can watch it from start to finish. and the place has been able to perform quite well lately, and even in their last five matches in the Premier League, they have not experienced defeat.

Liverpool new manager would also aim for his first trophy for his club I think all the four clubs has equal chances of winning the trophy.
If he's going to rotate players like when he played against Southampton while Spurs come with a full team it will be difficult. Some youngsters do show promises but it's hard for them to grow quickly if they have no minutes and consistency. That being said, Arne already said they plan to defend the title since Klopp won it last season. I think players like Endo, Gomez, and Chiesa will definitely have their minutes in this competition so they will definitely play. Kelleher is probably going to start too. Spurs definitely have a chance to win since Liverpool will likely play an attacking football with some weakness in transition. CMIIW.

The EPL Cup match schedule is still a long way off, so both teams still have a long time to prepare for the match. However, if you are curious enough about the performance of both teams, maybe you can watch their match in the Premier League, where the two teams will meet tomorrow.

By the way I don't understand why VAR isn't used in this cup.  Huh  This technology should be everywhere. I believe there was a clear foul by Bergvall to Altay on Tottenham's 4th goal. But the absence of VAR cost the Red Devils a lot.
Well it not the first time, but maybe it because you are a Manchester United fan that why you feel pained. VAR are to be used in semi finals and final. It was the same thing last season and even 2 seasons ago, but even if VAR was available I don’t think that will be a foul, that exactly how arsenal have been scoring so far from corner this season, they practically block the keeper from having access to the ball. Everyone have a different opinion about the goal, so as for me it not a foul. Manchester United should have done better by protecting their keeper.

There was no VAR in the Tottenham vs Manchester United game because according to the policy in effect since the 2019/20 season, the use of VAR will be implemented in the semifinals. The FA will investigate the incidents that occurred in the match, Man United players were furious when the controversial goals and incidents were shown on the big screen, maybe if VAR was used in the game, the result would have been different. Whatever happens during the match, Tottenham are already confirmed to have qualified for the semifinals and will face Liverpool in a 2-leg tie.

What the essence of FA investing the issues of it won’t change the outcome of the result. I still believe even after the investigation they would conclude that it was no foul because whatever they conclude can’t change the fact the Tottenham are into the semi finals. We have see issue like this where you will leave you goal Keeper unprotected and the opponent will take advantage of it especially in set pieces. Gunners have scored more goals from it and that goals always stand.

Yes Manchester United tried hard until the final whistle was blown and managed to score a 3rd goal in extra time but it was too late because Tottenham had already led 4 goals first so Man United had no chance to equalize to at least fight in a penalty shootout.
Of course Liverpool will be the favorite but in this competition we don't know the possibilities because Arsenal, Newcastle and Tottenham still have an open chance to win this competition if they are lucky enough to eliminate Liverpool.
