I must admit that I expected Newcastle to score a lot of goals in this game, at least 2 goals. But it was a game in which, despite Newcastle having 79% possession and having made 4 shots on target, they only managed to score a goal thanks to a penalty. In the last few games, it seems that Newcastle's attack has not been very effective. In the game against Fulham, they only scored 1 goal, then they played against Manchester City and again they only scored 1 goal. I understand that Manchester City is a very strong team, but against today's opponent they also only managed to score 1 goal and thanks to a penalty, it seems as if Newcastle's attack has some problem.
We must admit that Owen Goodman who is the AFC Wimbledon goalkeeper played very well by making quite impressive saves, the only thing he could not save was the penalty kick executed by Fabian Schar which also became the only goal for Newcastle victory.
Initially I also felt that Newcastle could get landslide victory by creating at least 2 goal without reply or more, but in reality AFC Wimbledon defensive game is quite strong and they have tough goalkeeper, I see Fabian Schar is still very young and with all the potential I think he can be great goalkeeper if he joins bigger and stronger team in the future.
Newcastle game this season is not really impressive, in the EFL Cup I don't expect much from Newcastle because they will likely be eliminated when facing much stronger team later.
We must understand that here all Premier League teams can be tough opponents for Newcastle, maybe when they meet one of them it can be nightmare for Newcastle later.
