Here are the line-ups that both teams will field in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semifinals today. Looking at Liverpool line-up, Arne clearly wants his squad to qualify for the final and challenge Newcastle there.
If Arne wants to meet that target, then in today second leg Liverpool must win at least 2-0 because in the first leg they lost narrowly to Tottenham. On the other hand, of course Tottenham will not let that happen because this competition is their only chance to get a trophy.
The match will start soon, let's see.

Strong lineup from both teams and your opinion about Tottenham not going down easy is valid. But unlike Arsenal, I do think that Liverpool will win today. Of course it's not going to be easy but very much possible especially with some anfield night magic.

The game is underway now and I'd be back at half time.

It is shocking and yet interesting to see how Newcastle United have become a tough opponent for Arsenal. I really can’t believe Arsenal played two legs and couldn’t score even a goal. In the last two seasons, Newcastle have been so good defensively when they play against Arsenal and I worry if it is Arsenal’s attack that is not so efficient and reliable or is it that Eddie Howe has understood Mikel Arteta’s playing pattern so well that Arsenal always find it difficult to score against them.

I'm not shocked with the way Newcastle played truthfully. The actual thing that surprised me was Arsenal's inadequate effort.  Sad  They were really terrible.

You just can't lose here by 4-0 in total. As you said, not even a single goal scored to answer Newcastle. I wonder how disappointed Arteta is with this performance.

He has brought Arsenal to a much better point from a crisis situation. But they still can't meet the expectations by the fans. I'd like to state something once again. They should immediately sign a centre-forward.
The 2-0 win at the emirates in leg 1 did benefit newcastle, but I did not expect in the second leg arsenal precisely cant able to do much for at least reduce the aggregate of goals, even instead of trying to play defensively, newcastle was very aggressive in attacking in the match although arsenal was able to dominate the match, what arsenal are currently getting is none other than consequence from their own actions that are absent in the winter transfer market, although arteta realises that their attacking line is in trouble after being hit by player injuries including the ineffectiveness from the centre-forward they have, but instead of bringing in a strong centre-forward they still believe in havertz who often appears directionless in every crucial match and also lacks the fighting power so far.

It may seem harsh, but Arteta has a lot to improve on. His team plays well but when it really matters the most they fumble. I'm all in on giving a manager time so I might cut him some slack but Artetat has to do better with Arsenal.
With the amount of money he has spent he should be doing way better than he's performing. That's why I don't take people who talk down on Manchester City seriously. Arsenal have spent a lot too in the last couple of seasons so they should be able to win Newcastle and get to the final of the Caraboa Cup. I mean, Arne Slot is on the verge of winning the league and he hasn't spent as much time and money as Arteta.
This is looking like another trophyless season for Arsenal because they're definitely not winning the league and they are also most likely to win the Champions League.

I saw this image on the internet with the caption ‘5 years with a coach, only 1 FA cup despite all the showcase. Stay humble guys, come learn football from Manchester City so you can stop bottling.’ I feel bad for Arsenal because their joy was short lived. They just got their revenge against Manchester City a few days ago and it seemed that the ‘Be Humble’ line wasn’t going to be used at them anymore but they just had to lose against Newcastle.
I'm one of those few persons that thought Arsenal might actually have a chance after their game against City at the weekend, but I was wrong. They can't win the EPL, they can't win the champions league, I'm not sure they can win the FA cup, they are out of the EFL cup and have lost their only chance at winning a silverware this season. So I feel sorry for the fans. The manager is trying, but finishing in the champions league spot every season is not enough. What will really count at the end of the day is the trophies and if he can't win trophies, then he's not good enough.

Sorry, but we're not in the same boat. I always remember correctly how garbage Arsenal in any season, yet they does it again. It's a common thing when people in favor Arsenal to win the game after they destroyed city with massive score. However, the thing is that most people forgot it, they're crap and trophyless team.

Zero trophy for their throphy cabinet this season. A classic story of Arsenal.

Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur will be meeting each other today at 21:00 in Anfield. The favorite team to win today is Tottenham but i know how difficult it will be because Liverpool are more like to win the game today. Liverpool is in first place in the UCL, First place in the EPL and is on the verge to qualify to the next final stage in the Caraboa cup. I don't want them to win all the competition. If they win the EPL or UCL then the Caraboa cup should be won by another team. Totteham is not in position to win anything this season expect the Caraboa cup. If they are able to win today i am sure they can contend against Newcastle for the finals.

Arsenal problem is a point man that will do the finishing work for them in front and with the looks of things both the club hierarchy and the coaching crew are not bordered about it as each season that passes they have refused to dool out money in getting a world class striker will do the finishing touches for them in front of goals because with the current squad of players in arsenal under arteta I don't see arsenal winning any major trophy as they lack the Needed qualities of winning any trophy because this is the same story that keeps repeating season in season out congratulations to Newcastle United for qualifying for the next phase of this competition as they head closer to winning a league

Today Liverpool will be on fire as they will travel to London as Tottenham will be hosting them in their match later tonight Both teams understand what is at stake as they will be hoping to qualify for the next round of the competition especially for Tottenham this match will be critical for them because with the looks of things they can't win the premier League so this is another route to wining a trophy do they have to put in all their best to overcoming Liverpool which are in fine form this season

It is funny how these football results are happening unexpectedly against our predictions. With the overwhelming 5:1 victory Arsenal had over Manchester city  fans would have assumed that Arsenal will have this game as a walk in the park but unfortunately Newcastle united are the ones taking the lead with a 2:0  scoreline even after having a 2 goal deficit advantage over Arsenal in the first leg.

Arsenal elimination from the Carabao Cup is a common thing, because every time they get close to a trophy there is always a way to thwart it. Newcastle dominated 2x matches (home and away) Arsenal were made unable to score a single goal. Not only that, no matter how consistent Arsenal is about trophies, it will be impossible for them. That is a fact that they must realize, in the FA Cup they were eliminated because they lost to Man United as an inconsistent club can also eliminate Arsenal.
This sounds very funny to me, but this is the glaring truth in our faces, Arsenal are so unlucky in winning trophies, the match between them and Newcastle at the St James park Left me thinking if Arsenal are like Moses in the Bible who God said, you will see the Promise land but you won't enter into it. I was so angry in my spirit with Martin odegaard, the young man had two beautiful chances he could have converted, you could see how Isak was firing from all cylinders and even scored one that was disallowed, before the second one that hit the bar and came back for Murphy to score, Arsenal where just full of defensive errors. Carabao cup, the FA cup are all the little little trophies that you should be winning as a serious contending side in the premier League before eventually winning the big league, but in the case of Arsenal, they are losing trophies to clubs that most people will easily refer to as mediocre clubs and yet you think something is not wrong somewhere.

Eddie Howe seems to know exactly how to beat Arteta. Newcastle won 4-0 on aggregate against Arsenal. In 2 matches Newcastle always lost in possession, but in creating chances for goals they always succeeded. It seems that Arteta's main enemy this season is not Pep, but Eddie Howe. Arsenal did lose focus in important matches. Now their efforts are to catch up with Liverpool in the Premier League and get good results in the Champions League. Everything can still be done, but there is no need to have high expectations.
The differential for Newcastle United remains their attackers whose pace remained very difficult for arsenal to deal with considering that arsenal plays a very high backline. Isak, Murphy, and Gordon position themselves properly to make sure that the transition defense quickly to attack and cut the arsenal defense slipping. William saliba was not as his best yesterday and Alexander Isak was able to take the best and have the advantage of him better than Haaland did in the EPL game before.

Arsenal could not overthrown the deficit but I am surely Liverpool will be able to do so because Tottenham can be very poor at times especially in defence.

Liverpool can do it, they were 1 goal behind in the first leg from Tottenham, and today Liverpool will pay for it all with a win.
I hope Liverpool will get some goals in the first half and not lose focus when planning an attack. Because losing the ball when they attack can be a fatal mistake if their defense has a gap.
Tottenham will probably play more defensively, and Liverpool must give everything to get the win.

The same number of shots and the same number finding the target... But Newcastle were the side to turn those into advantage by a 2-0 win at the end of the day.  Smiley

This wasn't the kind of Arsenal most of us were expecting to see most probably. They were already 2-0 behind on aggregate so I thought they would be more competitive.

After getting eliminated in the FA Cup, they are out here as well now. They have only the Premier League and Champions League left in hand. But I think they will finish the season trophyless...

I totally disagreed with the bolded sentences. The correct thing is that this is kind of arsenal most people know. Played well, but always become trophyless. They were not a club who always won the trophy. How many times they won trophy with Arteta?

it's pretty obvious this is Arsenal who is known by most of football fans. A trophyless team.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Believe me, they will be out from the UCL, and as per the odds of PL, they have no chance against Liverpool.

We're in another season of watching Arsenal finish trophyless, they were eliminated in the FA Cup by Manchester United, and now it's the Carabao Cup, and they can't book their tickets to the final. Arsenal has no chance of winning a trophy this season since there are many strong clubs in the Champions League, and Liverpool is also the favorite to win the Premier League title this season. Arsenal has missed an opportunity to win a trophy this season; they should try again next season, as they did in the previous seasons.
Arsenal fan patience can be said to be very ordinary in supporting even without a trophy. We know that Arsenal have 14 trophy Trophy FA Cups, but Arsenal are forced to be eliminated in the FA Cup this season. In Carabao Cup, Arsenal has also been eliminated by Newcastle.

If last season in the Premier League has the hope of winning a trophy, the end must also surrender from Manchester City. This season, two tournaments have been eliminated. The opportunity to win the Premier League is thin. In the Champions League, they are also not sure they are able to reach the final round.
In fact, when against Newcastle yesterday, Arteta played almost entirely the main squad that showed them seriously, but failed too.

But basically there are some key Arsenal players who cannot be played due to injury, one example is Saka and that might also have a bad impact on Arsenal's performance in the match. Because anyway, basically Arsenal had better ball possession compared to Newcastle but anyway, Newcastle had also taken the lead since the first half. Entering the second half, I thought Arsenal would manage to get a goal back but well, the second goal in this match was for the home team and made the match end with a score of 2-0  and the total aggregate for  this match was 4-0. Although Arsenal have good results in the Premier League and in the Champions League, but for this match Arsenal still get bad results. And I am very lucky to have chosen Newcastle with good odds.

It's shocking to know that Arsenal hopes on getting to the finals of the EFL cup has come to a halt tonight by Newcastle reducing their chances of lifting a trophy this season with just the EPL and UCL competitions left to their hopes which isn't all that feasible.

It will be tough for me to expect anything positive from Arsenal this season, as many people expected Arsenal to defeat Newcastle following their outstanding performance against Manchester City in the Premier League. I also predicted that they would win the game since how they play appeared to have improved against City. Arsenal lost both the first and second legs of the game, conceding two goals in every match. Arsenal seemed that they only played their best football when they faced Manchester City.

There was a big chance that they would reach the final and maybe win at least this trophy, which they have only won twice and have not won for over 30 years. Even I think that the website must have made a mistake when it said that the last time they won it was in the 1992-93 season.
Goddamn. I was curious and decided to check and you're right. They managed to finish 2nd on multiple occasions though, for what it's worth. On the other hand, most Arsenal fans that I know don't think much about this trophy. Most of them want to win the Premier League or Champions League. I wonder if some clubs also think this cup competition is for their backup/young players to compete, hence why sometime they got knocked out early even though their Premier League form is amazing.

The point is that with this defeat Arsenal are only left with the Premier League which in my opinion they will not be able to win this season and with the European Champions League which in my opinion they will also not be able to win anything. So Arsenal will end the season without winning anything. If they continue like this, in the next 5 years they will also not win anything even with an excellent squad.

There was only Arsenal fans' groans in the gallery, because Newcastle team won this match 2-0.

These Arsenal fans have had many disappointments every season

This will be another opportunity for Newcastle to get to Wembley for the Carabao cup finals and this would be the second time they are getting to the finals, the first one being against Man UTD that they lost in the 2023 season. They get to face the winner between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool and honestly, I'd love for the magpies to win this trophy as they haven't won it before.

The game they played against Arsenal yesterday showed their hunger to at least clinch a trophy since they don't have the hope they can get the league title and from the game yesterday you'd see that they deserved to win because Arsenal's attention seemed to be placed elsewhere.
I believe that if the Gunners had played Newcastle the way they did Man City, it would have been the hosts that would have been under pressure and ordinarily, Newcastle were being careful not to make any mistakes cause they know that Arsenal could just swoop in and scatter their defense.
Good job to Eddie Howe's men. It's now a matter of if they can see it to the end.

This season's Carabao Cup was very interesting because seeing a team like Newcastle defeating Arsenal home and away made it look good, I was not surprised by the defeat because Newcastle knows how to play against Big teams in the Premier League, Newcastle humbled Arsenal's home and away with 4 goals without conceding any goal in the match, Newcastle is in the Final stage waiting for Liverpool or Tottenham to qualify, with the way I'm seeing things Newcastle have a big chance on winning this trophy.

Liverpool will play Tottenham today and Liverpool is the favorite to win the match because they are in better shape than Tottenham, Tottenham is suffering from many injuries and that change the team's performance, if Liverpool meets Newcastle in the Final stage, Newcastle can defeat Liverpool because they know how to play Liverpool and they can even be the first to score a goal in the match.

This is really funny, seems Erling Haaland has invented a punch line that has come to stay forever. Arsenal really need to stay Humble that's just the truth. They haven't won anything for long now and they think that they can rub shoulders with Manchester city. At least Newcastle united fans has reminded them that they are not anywhere close to Manchester city. It's really a good thing that it's Newcastle fans that are reminding them to be humble. When Haaland said that, people thought he was arrogant. But it's now obvious that Arsenal as a team and their fans are not humble that's why nothing good is happening to their club. I was really surprised the way Arsenal celebrated their win against Manchester city last weekend. Not even that the victory took them to the top of the table. So you wondered why they celebrated that much. They really need to stay humble, Haaland was right after all.

Only if Tottenham can win Liverpool tonight is when I believe that Newcastle will be able to win the finals. However, if Liverpool wins tonight, I don't think that it will be possible for Newcastle to win the Carabao cup will make history.

Newcastle played brilliantly yesterday and they deserved to win Arsenal on a clean sheet. Arsenal played like scumbags yesterday, and I got disappointed in them, because I thought that they will be able to work out something out of nothing.

Today's match will definitely be a win for Labor as Liverpool have a very strong squad and will be playing at their home ground.  Tottenham team is very weak in this match because Lever Balla has been performing well since the beginning of the season, thus they have been competing strongly with Ananda Dal for a long time.  However, in today's match, Tottenham can definitely enter the final by defeating the team.
