Ajax is the big winner this weekend. All competitors have suffered a significant loss of points and Ajax a simple victory. The PSV match in particular was bizarre. Of the 90 minutes, I think PSV was the better match for 85 minutes and should have scored a goal or 7 for sure. That's not how it went and Groningen was 3-0 in 5 minutes and 3-1 1 minute later. When they went into halftime with that score, there was still hope for PSV. The 3-2 fell in minute 75, then you also have time on the 3-3 or even 3-4. PSV wasted one chance after another and then you get the bill after 90 minutes. Feyenoord played weak and was unable to beat Fortuna Sittard at home, which is doing very well with their new trainer and striker Yilmaz.

Correct this round was Ajax's round, but PSV can make up the points in Ajax's next league game, only they have to win against Ajax for once. Only Ajax now have 2 very difficult Champions League games they have to win, is that the reason why Ajax don't play or postpone the next league game?

Very successful weekend for Ajax Amsterdam without a doubt. They themselves brought home three points solidly and all the closest three contenders failed with Alkmaar closing that race for the weekend with a loss also.
An important round for Ajax, all other leaders have bounced this round only Ajax won their game confidently. PSV and AZ lost, but Feyenoord saved a draw.

Ajax now have 3 very difficult games ahead of them, first 2 Champions League games and then the game against PSV.
Ajax widening gape from second spot team PSV and now have lead of four points which is good after winning their match on road against Waalwijk and PSV have their third defeat of this season and all happening on road matches and with lost against Arsenal in UEFA Europa Cup this is fourth defeat which is not good indication for them because there are aiming for having spot in Champions League for this they have to improve performance and quality which give them better results in all conditions.

Feyenoord ended in a draw at home against Sittard which is also playing good and able to steal points against team like Feyenoord which is not third in league table with some points of PSV but goals difference is bringing them down hopefully they could be also better in coming days and AZ Alkmaar now dropped from top to fourth after losing second match in a row.

Now there is a gap for the first time this season between the second and the first I believe and gaps in Eredivisie mean something. Ajax Amsterdam being ahead with four points can also play within a certain comfort zone as they can even afford to lose a game or perhaps two. Not to forget that PSV gave the game away against Groningen, which is a rather weak team and a must win game. Certainly a bit of a tipping point here in the Eredivisie for now. Everyone knows that they shouldn't let this snowball over the coming weeks and allow Ajax to distance themselves significantly. That would almost be decisive for the rest of the season.

Feyenoord is facing Fortuna today, and Ajax is playing away match against RKC
everything except their wins will be a big surprise, but odds for betting are way to small, even for goals, and those should not be taken for granted, since RKC is a tough team, and Feyenoord is not scoring more then 3 to often at home

Vittesse has a shitty season, fighting to avoid relegation at the moment, but win over Emmen should be a value pick

one simply cannot compare Ajax in Dutch league and Ajax in CL, CL competition is fierce and Napoli would easily win Dutch championship, probably without a draw
nevertheless, AZ proved they do not have what it takes to be within top3, and Feyenoord seems as obvious choice for third spot, while PSV will chase Ajax till the end, doubtfully, Ajax will probably reach the finish line as first and take the title

ajax may still be a great team, hopefully with ten hag leaving the team, they will still dominate the dutch league. schreuder doesn't really have a good strategy for ajax, unlike ten hag, it's also proven in UCL, ajax performs badly. I personally still doubt whether ajax this season will defend its title in the Dutch league or even PSV or Feyenoord which again shifts the dominance of ajax. tomorrow ajax will face waalwijk, this is an opportunity for them to increase points.

We will see the race between them, of course, if Ajax is still unstable with coordination.
ajax has already recovered, look at their results from the last 2 games. they won and are at the top, of course they will be champions
Seem yes, I just compare Ajax with team on Champions League that got a big lost with the same team, Napoli.

Seem yes, I just compare Ajax with team on Champions League that got a big lost with the same team, Napoli. I don't know why they seemed just give up, like helpless and doesn't have the power to rise. This is different when Ajax fight with Eredivisie team, I'm not sure if they changed the focus right now and have a different target, but when they focusing in eredivise only, of course the title is on their hand.
Now this season is going to be difficult for them as they already sold their few top quality players for big amount and coach is also new with this all they already have the worst results in Champions League but here in Eredivisie they have chance even it's also not easy because we are watching few good things in this season with Feyenoord, AZ Alkmaar and PSV all are in good shape and have enough strength for giving them challenge.

Ajax are still superiors in Eredivisie, but this season is going to be difficult for them, and they have to done tough work if they want to win and hold their control on this league which is in trouble with the improved quality of few other teams and most chances now their main focus could be here instead of going into Europa Cup which is also not easy.

The last round showed how crazy the league is. They hunt each other with these absurd results week after week, but at least they are showing some weaknesses from time to time and make it a close race at the top.

It will still mostly be about the showdowns like we have seen between AZ and Feyenoord. It does happen that they give away points agains the weaker teams, but the games between the top four are tremendously important whereas in a number of other leagues it is quite a bit more balanced in that teams from the top more frequently lose points against teams from the ranks five and onwards.

Yesterday and today there were cup matches in the Dutch league. Few to no surprises seen, except for 1 game. Vitesse lost on penalties to De Treffers, an amateur team. That's the fun of such tournaments. But in the competition Vitesse is also doing very poorly and is even almost at the bottom. We might see a long battle for the championship at the top, which is of course great for the neutral football supporter. Ajax really has an enormous wealth on the field and has spent 110 million euros, but that is not yet reflected on the field. Antony is sorely missed, but they got 100 million for that. That was a choice.

The Eredivisie is definitely more balanced this year, and we've already talked about whether Feyenoord and AZ can keep up with PSV and Ajax in a longer season. It would be nice for us spectors if it was a four-way fight until the end, but it will be difficult if Ajax lose the difficult and intense Champions League games and the whole squad is fitter in the spring.
I was also a bit surprised with them, especially AZ. a week ago that team was on top, but maybe because their concentration is split in the confederation Europa league they can't control and hold the position on top, then lost at home vs Feyenoord. So, I think if AZ and Feyenoord are capable to compete with Ajax and PSV, the competition would be balanced until the last session. We will see the race between them, of course, if Ajax is still unstable with coordination.

After all, AZ lost to Feyenoord, not some bottom table team. It's painful loss, but not tragedy, they dropped to 4th place, but still just 2 points behind Ajax.
Ajax isn't looking good Champions league, probably they will drop to Europa League, where they can go far. Other 3 clubs also have good chances to go far in Europa and Champions league. In such case, then it's question on squad depth and injuries which can be decisive in title race. Also, big factor will be in what condition players will return after World Cup break. I think it's very likely that it will be big drop of players shape after World Cup.

I believe that the problem was not lack of concentration, the opponent was more effective in scoring goals, just see that the opponent scored 3 goals, this overwhelming number of goals shows that Feyenoord was more superior on the field and AZ will need to work hard from now on because the other teams that are below them don't have a big difference in points, if they lose two games it will be enough for other teams to approach them

So, I think if AZ and Feyenoord are capable to compete with Ajax and PSV, the competition would be balanced until the last session.

looking realistically I doubt they will be able to keep up with Ajax and PSV, both Ajax and PSV are very strong teams and they score a lot of goals, it is not easy for other teams to compete with Ajax and PSV unless the other teams are bought by some rich and hire good coaches and good players, only then the other teams would be strong and the league would be more competitive

We will see the race between them, of course, if Ajax is still unstable with coordination.

Even right now in Dutch League Ajax and PSV have strong hold and with available sources and financial situation both teams are best in business, but positive thing happened in this season we have four teams at top which are competing, and AZ Alkmaar are doing good job now they lost first match against Feyenoord but still had potential for giving tough competition in remaining season to opponents.

Ajax and PSV are again at the top spots as now Ajax is close to drop from Champions League and PSV is doing good in Europa Cup but these both are giving their best in Eredivisie for going into Champions League in next season now next few rounds are easy for top teams, and we can't expect any change in surely things could be interesting after January when all teams will do play with their strength for having top ranks.

Yeah, I've "traditionally" supported Feyenoord, but only because of close ties (spiritual more than anything else perhaps) to Liverpool, not to mention I loved every bit of the season when Dirk Kuyt lifted the trophy with them with YNWA loud and clear.

But equally enjoy seeing PSV and Alkmaar rough up the slick boys from Amsterdam a bit this season (sorry we had to beat them).

Initially thought I'd go watch Cambuur a lot after their helicopter celebration video I came across haha but couldn't bear watching a game.

Haven't followed the season much in Eredivisie after giving up on Feyenoord in Europe, but definitely agree that the Alkmaar weirdness does provide for a better season than usual. The weekend was a bit strange though, Freiburg (who have been awesome in Bundesliga) have just been reminded of where they should be same as Alkmaar... I guess as the season wears on we'll see the dust settle and the rightful positions restored.

Ajax and PSV overran their opponents and AZ surprisingly lost to Feyenoord, I was expecting a draw.

So now Ajax are top of the table again and the top 4 teams are only 2 points apart, that's still very little, keep it up.

The season seems to be/becomes more interesting than we all thought.

because losing to Feyenoord made AZ drop straight to rank 4, did not think that AZ was able to concede 3 goals after having led by 1 goal in the 26th minute through Odgaard's goal.

PSV won 6-1 against utrecht
Ajax won 7-1 against Excelsior

looks like both teams (PSV and Ajax) are really competing hard for the top position of the Eredivisie league.
