But you have to admit that they got a very strong group with Napoli and Liverpool, but that shouldn't be an excuse, as you wrote, last year they had one of the best defences and this year they scored an unusually high number of goals.

It is clear that we should certainly not write off AZ this season. And we can also expect a few things from Twente. For many people and also for the bookmakers, Ajax remains the favorite to win the title. Perhaps Ajax's dip in form can be justified somehow because they have had opponents of a considerable caliber. Lost 4 games, but that included 2 games against Napoli, 1x Liverpool away and 1x AZ away. AZ is a good team, you can easily run into a defeat there on a bad day. Ajax are about to be eliminated in the Champions League. They have performed too poorly against Liverpool and Napoli in defense and offense both. Especially their conceding 10 goals from Napoli in 2 matches is just horrible. We have watched Ajax stronger than this so far in the Champions League so the management must be expectant from them. Even though it is a tough group they would at least like to see the players making a big effort to qualify from the group.

In the international matches, even if Ajax has strong opponents in the Champions League, you can see the deficits due to the departures, which is also reflected in the national league. That's why I think Ajax will strengthen themselves in the winter, especially in defence, if they come third in the group stage. Well expected result from Ajax against a team which is having no win in last five matches, but now we have some entertaining matches coming today with unbeatable team AZ Alkmaar is going to visit Utrecht which is also doing good job, and we can expect good performance from both teams in this match which will give better shape to league table because if visitors won then surely this could be pressure on PSV and Ajax for improving quality for rest of the season.

Another mediocre match from Ajax. They did win 2-4 but we are talking about Volendam, one of the worst teas in the competition. And at some point it became 0-3, that you let it come to 2-3 is also bad in itself. Ajax is in a very difficult period at the moment, it is important to find the form again and in the meantime just keep winning matches. AZ is the surprising frontrunner, but it is still too early to label someone as a favorite. Ajax has been anything but convinced this season, but that can change quickly. Well, at least we get to see some variance finally at the top of the table. PSV makes mistakes, and Ajax Amsterdam also tied one game and lost one game out of the last three while Alkmaar is taking advantage of the opportunity at least to some degree and makes it a bit more exciting for the soccer fans.

In the end I think it will still be about Ajax and whether they can play to their best potential. Even though they had some players leave the club during the last transfer period, they are still the best team on paper I would say. PSV is probably very close. Yet, that doesn't mean Alkmaar has no chance at all.

I think what really took Ajax down a little bit is the last minute transfer of Antony to Manchester United. That was a loss in quality.

somehow, Ajax will be motivated to show that they are strong team despite CL results, and Volendam is the right opportunity for that, will put some small amount on over4.5 and o5.5

Very surprising results this past weekend, except for AZ, all the front runners got a little bit patched up. PSV's 3-0 defeat is the most surprising, it was very unexpected, but it keeps the season exciting.
