it's clear ETH will survive in the long run in comparison with LTC.
because we already know with all ico use ETH for the transaction.
and ETH I think one day will be able to match BTC in the future.

I would choose another coin for investment for a long term.  For example, it's better to invest in EOS.

Definitely i would go for Etherum. It looks more promising than litecoin and most of the coins. in long term i think will be the only competitor of Bitcoin. The last 7 days have gained more than +35% .

For sure, Both Litecoin and Ethereum are very good choices for any one wants to invest in altcoins in long-term. They are always attractive for investors and cause their price to rise in long-term.

For me Ethereum is the best choice for a long-term investment because of the smart contract technology that LTC does not have and the number of users, of course LTC existed before Ethereum but now Ethereum has a bigger community and one more great utility.
Most crypto currency will fail (and it started) the wisest decision would be to invest in those that are most useful to the global ecosystem that's why for me Ethereum is by far the best choice

Ethereum. I think everyone noticed that the ethereum has already established itself as currency #2 and is growing steadily along with bitcoin. Large funds enter this market and, first of all, they are bought by these two coins, and further, as decisions are made, gambling will begin with various tokens.

Both of this is a good coins in the world of cryptocurrency, litecoin vs ethereum, but in terms of value and fame I rather prefer invest in ethereum because it next to bitcoin in line of have a higher potential to grow in the exchange market and mostly all bitcoiner prefer ethereum for gas in MEW transaction or other  platform site's preferable for exchange and trading.

Brand new to the cryptocurrency market.  Currently I hold a decent amount of LTC.  It's value has gone up nicely since I purchased it.  I've read all the predictions for LTC in 2018 and 2019.  It sounds promising as a long term hold...which is what I'm more comfortable doing...to reach $200 -$300 a coin.   I like the fact that there is a team in place trying hard to ensure it's future.  Charlie Lee may not be the most charismatic spokesman publicly but he's out there doing it which gives me confidence in his product.  Now, it's obvious that ETH is not going anywhere.  My question for the board is which outperforms the other in the next 5 years?  I tend to invest heavily in the direction that has the bigger upside.  Perhaps I should split my investing 50/50 regarding ETH and LTC?  What say the more experienced cryptocurrency gurus?

I have nothing against BTC.  I don't see it going anywhere.  It is the giant.  However, I feel the current price point is too high for my liking.

Thanks

For me it is good to split your investment to 50 / 50 Ethereum and Litecoin. Both long term investment, i read some predictions that this year 2018 is the year of crypto and we will see the growth and pump of Ethereum and Litecoin. Let's wait for the pump to gain a huge profit!

I don't think LTC would be a good one for long term investment. In the big picture LTC has been very stable, didn't rise much, didn't fall much. It only ticks up and down and for day traders those ups & downs have been really good.

But in the long term ETH would prove quite profitable rather than LTC and it has a better use case more than LTC in my own opinion

if i were you, i will choose to invest in ethereum, litecoin has been born recently but its price has reach top so many times but also drop to bottom very fast, is can be extremely dangerous if an investor want to use money investing in long term profit. so the better way is to choose ethereum.

ETH, it has great potential to be the next bitcoin. And when I transact, if not BTC, its ETH. So its good to invest in ETH long term. You can see its market growth and its very promising.

These two has very different project but for long term it would be better to invest in Ethereum because ethereum has one special project that they invente, in other side Litecoin is clone of Bitcoin, I think Ethereum is more orginal project than Litecoin.

Of course it is better to invest in ETH.  I think LTC does not have a good future and it's better not to take chances.

At the time this thread was created, ethereum was the best coin to hodl for long term but currently, I suggest ltc to be the best coin of the moment due to its decreased in priced recently. We all have good hopes for ltc which was very high some few months ago. summer has just begun, Let's wait and see the market again.

On a long term it is better to invest in ETH and better now buy coins while the price is about $ 500.

I think for the long term ethereum is more advantageous than litecoin, the amount of very large ethereum transactions on the market will continue to push the price of ethereum up higher and maybe ethereum will become the main competitor of bitcoin

Both are very promising currencies, with two encryptions for long-term investments, the success of the negotiations must be based on techniques and strategies, besides being good alternatives for long-term investment, they are affordable currencies.
