Ethereum is quite unique. It can provide a trading platform for smart contract, so the coin is quite useful.

If the bitcoin price rise a lot, it will also attract people to the Ethereum. So the Ethereum price will also rise.

Good thing Bitcoin won't be going to 1600 then... There is so much delusion in crypto it's comical. I've never read other asset forums (gold, silver, stocks...), so I don't know if this is a regular thing, but shit it's annoying. People say TA can't predict the future and in the same breath, say 1600 is an inevitability like it is already fact... what a joke!

Now I do agree that if Bitcoin were to actually go to 1600 in the next 10 months, that ETH and likely many alts will eventually see a substantial rise, however, it will only be after a few things happen. First, BTC begins its meteoric rise. Everyone piles out of alts to hold BTC, and altcoin prices plummet. Then, when the BTC price is flying up in a fomo, the likes of which only crypto sees, the masses start moving to BTC after media attention confirming that Bitcoin is not dead. When the price gets so high that average Joe's don't want to pay these god awful prices, they start piling into alts with the mindset that "I'll be an early adopter of xxxcoin". By this time, BTC is getting close to it's final exuberleg, and everything rises together, but Bitcoin being the slowest of all since it costs exponentially more money with every bit it rises and alts are cheap to move. This is the point where people would rather move the price 10% to buy one coin than buy 10 coins  while moving price 1%. Finally, everything comes crashing back down in a spectacular fashion and coins are 'ded' again. I've seen it a million times. This time will not be different.

I think the Ethereum price will go up. It might go up to $20 when the bitcoin price rises to $1600 this year.

The guy presenting more or less says "we don't really know what it is", but the possibilities are amazing.
Half way through the presentation I got a Skynet-feeling: "a world wide computer that cannot be turned off or reset". But of course it's not that evil, it just runs very small pieces of code. Regardless the price, I'm going to experiment with the scripting language.

I hope the PoS will start later next year so that my graphics card will have more use. There are not many profitable coins.

No.  Homestead is march.  Pos is coming much much later probably 6 months or more.

Is PoS coming with homestead??

A smart contract is an app that sits on the blockchain and waits to be called. It will only run if it's requirements are met. That's about it. You can write code so that the app is intelligent. I can see why it's called a smart contract but the terminology can be confusing. They're just apps (or dapps - decentralized apps).

If this is too simplistic then correct me!

Foundation must have enough money for 5 years. I just want them to get this POS thing sorted and release homestead which will kill a lot of the FUD

That is my hope as well. But it is quite difficult to achieve. I just wish the Foundation has enough money to develop.

Hey, ETH is now being traded on Yobit!  I bought and sold some ETH on poloniex about a week ago and just broke even but I'm thinking about converting some of my sig campaign earnings into ETH.  Don't know, sentiment seems to be marginally bullish and I don't want to blow my bitcoin on another shitcoin.  

I have to say, I don't even know what a smart contract is.

Edit:  Just looked it up and still don't know what a smart contract is.  Can someone dumb it down for me?

We might see troubled time ahead, but I'm convinced that before 1 year from now, we'll be at at least 0,03BTC ! Everything is favorable for Ethereum : Homestead which is coming, the end of the PoW...

I think Ethereum price has not reached its potential. It will be much higher in the future. However, it might drop in the short term.

if you haven't sold any buy now you're just being greedy as hell.
i sold a bunch, loaded up on bitswift and a couple other coins. 

You can't just assume that this "support" is genuine. It is simple for someone who has sold all they want in the correction from .02 to take that profit and fill the bid side with orders, with no intention of letting them get hit. This is a manipulation tactic that costs nothing and gives a false sense of safety to those looking for their next entry. The masses pile in above these bids front running this "support", but in actuality, they are setting themselves up. Either bids are pulled and the front runners sold into, or they are just pushing the price up through the use of panic sheep to get to their next sell point.

Understand that I'm not saying this is what is happening, only that you can't just assume every order on the book is there to actually buy/sell. If the rules were changed to not allow the cancelling of orders within say 10% of spot, you would only see legitimate orders and the books may take on a vastly different appearance.

Ethereum handling the pressure as a complete boss. Poloniex has over 7k BTC buy support and people still talking about being a "bubble". There's genuine interest in Ethereum and I'm sure it will explode even more during the year as news about new deals and app developments are released just as it happened with slock.it and Samsung. Get some under 0.01 now!

That is a very general suggestion. Where do you think the mouth is? Will that be Ethereum or the bitcoin?
