Etherium is still good for investment as its price is on the uptrend again. Some predicts that this trend would continue next year.
A lot of gud exciting things coming to ETH next year, not least Metropolis, POS, sharding, etc.
Most of the opinions I see regarding switching to POS algorithm are negative comments. Will not this bring elements of centralization to the system? Why would this be good news?

I've only started learning about altcoins, would you suggest eth to newbies? I don't know the technical differences among all these altcoins and how that would matter. Well I did read but it'll take time for me to digest all the info. So far I've only heard about bitcoin and ethereum and the only thing I know about the latter is it's much cheaper to buy that bitcoin. I believe it's at around $12 currently.

you know whole "hype" about ETH at20$ was about big banks using EHT.. but and end they CREATE OWN eth blockchains not related to crypto ETH.
So gettingETH up such massive again will be very hard since 60m$ DAO failed hard.
Maybe better look now for some good coins which are selling below ICO price but have active team maybe LISK or Waves gettting there 3x-10x is more possible than with ETH.

Ethereum Bitcoin or ETC chain will be the common chain. The banks will use that if they want to do business with other people.

Seems legit!

Ehtereum is one of the best altcoins to invest with. You know when you
plan to invest its a totally risks. But invest only of what you can afford
to lose though ethereum is one the altcoins for long now. Also,
its better that dont put your money in one basket.

Before the ZCash, the Ethereum could be the best coin to invest. But the ZCash could be the best for now.

The difficult of the ZCash mining is rising fast and the price is also dropping fast. It is not so profitable now.

it's legit information. and the infinite number of forks and chains are quickly becoming ethereum's unique selling point. i can't think of much else that offers this much disaster in such a short space of time.

A few minutes ago, I saw an information saying that the Ethereum's blockchain accidentally splitted.

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/ethereums-blockchain-accidentally-splits/

Is the information authentic? How serious is the problem, for the short and long term?

I was considering the possibility of investing, but then I researched more and realized it would be a very risky decision. In addition to Bitcoin being able to take off at any time, there are other factors that could lead to a drop in the Eth price.
One of the biggest problems is that the eth network itself has many attack vectors, which is one of the reasons why it's in the fourth hardfork.
lol you really are a regart. BTC would be on its tenth fork if only the idiots would agree to develop the coin beyond a constrained token. Don't confuse software development and hardforks as a weakness. All good relevant software continuously develops.

You are right this is totally risky! The best way to learn is by mistakes? Have you ever made a trade that lost value so bad it made puke? if not you are still a rookie

Ethereum is a good altcoin. Its my best choice in any altcoins so far. But i dont use all i have for ethereum. I will make everything on balance. I will buy some btc with the same value of ethereum. I dont wanna lose everything so if i loss on ethereum, atleast i will get it back with.my btc. Altcoins are unstable and i dont want to risk.
Yeah, Don't put all the eggs/money in one basket. Divide your money into both coins that have a lot of potential and profitable for you. Choosing bitcoin and ethereum that have the same amount of investment or balance investment is the best because as you said, if you loss on ethereum there still a chance for you to recover your loss by focusing on bitcoin.
This is a very good idea on every investors and  for those people who want to have future investments because its very ideal not to put up on a single investment because if that one collapse then for sure you will have a hard time to recover up since you put up all of your money thats why its advisable to make partitions incase of emergencies and you were right you could able to recover your losses in no time  if you do have back-up plans or investments.
