And presently as of Jan 14 ripple takes back the second place but to me ethereum is better than ripple and I'm sure after the Constantinople hard fork it will be tough for ripple to ever hit the second position again
Ethereum is very surprising now. From the increase in prices and until returning to second place in the coinmarketcap. This is a very extraordinary process for ethereum. Where every day there must be a surprise made by ethereum.

Thats good thing to know because we used to it that Eth is always the number 2 in crypto market. Theres a lot happened last year that makes it fall in number 3 spot. Hope that 2019 will be a good year for the whole crypto market and have it recover from bearish market last year.

Yes, you are right. but that was only a moment for ripples in the second place right now. wait for the next day that ethereum will return to second place again. I don't think ripples will be forever in second place. I believe there will be a time when these ethereum coins can rise and recover like they have ever experienced.

Long term, I think ETH will regain it`s second position on CMC, especially after the hard fork mid January. The competition between these two alts will continue for a while.
Every time I see ethereum slip into third position I feel bad. Honestly I thought it would dump a little less than the red I see on cmc, but also it depends on the btc. I hope to return to second position as soon as possible.

The Ethereum and Ripple both good coins, but I do not think anyone of them will break forward strongly. They will continue to compete with each other, surpassing each other in a small difference in capitalization.
That's already expected. Ethereum may drop down in it's price but it will always come back with great success! That's how market works though pump and dump, and it's not only happens in Ethereum but with all altcoins including Bitcoin.
