Bitcoin is far more than ethereum. Ethereum need to boost more and more because we all know that BTC is a mother of all Cryptos

I believe that Ethereum is much more promising bitcoin. Bitcoin is simply a gold coin. Is the father of the cryptocurrency. Smiley

swing!
The current infrastructure and roadmap just meant for Ethereum to succeed, it's about time considering the underlying power of their platform to capture all the existing industries and transform them into DAOs through various ERC20 project owners that working hard on it, scalability is crucial for crypto and nothing could just being released and was expected to be adopt by current businesses, once technologies around crypto is seriously ready for commercialized used, going up to half of BTC's price is certain i believe.

this thread is epic and I hope it stays alive for many years to come. It's a window to the past that basically shows how people speculated back in the days and how people are still speculating up to this day. Many naysayers, but they have been proved wrong, especially about ETH. Back in the day it was all about BTC, when an altcoin was coming to the market (which was unusuall back in the days - you'd see maybe a new one once every two-week/month) then everyone was saying "shitcoins". Now that they have surpassed the total value of BTC (in some months, BTC has still overall dominance) they don't say that anymore. The point is that many great projects like Ethereum have really shown that they are here to stay, and people should get used to that.

I don't think that one must die for the other to survive. I think there is place for more than one coin/token, especially that those are two totally different animals. BTC is simply a store of value, a gateway "drug" for cryptocurrencies. Until crypt is mainstream and all people in the world can distinguish and difference between BTC, Blockchain and altcoin, BTC will keep going up and we need it to do so. When we are in mainstream, then we'll see if BTC survives.

The fact is, without BTC there will be no interest in crypto. With no interest there will be in ICOs. With no ICOs there will be no amazing projects that are being build. I know that there are multiple coins that do much better what BTC supposed to do but perhaps in the future will find different application for different coins. BTC could be our new savings account, LTC could be checking account, Ethereum new google cloud etc.

In web world we have linkedin, facebook, twitter, instagram. They are different flavors of the same (social media) and we want to use them all. Nobody says that facebook will kill linkedin or that amazon will kill ebay or craigslist. I think it will be the same with BTC, ETH, LTC, DASH, XMR etc. We'll have many and we'll use many.

Bitcoin is really a forex and Ethereum is a smart contracts system (Not Really A CURRENCY) so you can't compare the 2. Both need to exist so we need more methods to other problems. Fortunately we have ample ICOs to cover those areas. I'm sure we will see much more...

Yes, today we need both coins. But in the future, if it improve, one of it will have to die. Theoretically, the etherium can destroy bitcoins, but, in my opinion, this will require an active attraction for the use of the etherium.

Ethereum progress has been commendable and i have seen the rise of both ethereum and bitcoin. But bitcoin has been in certain position now  where whole crypto world is known by bitcoin to outsiders which is very hard to replace but ethereum has also shown great promise in last few months which is really positive and its long way to travel but etherum is on right track.

We need to support ethereum and bitcoin at the same time. Making one weaker doesn't give any benefits to us. This is obvious because they are the most important figures of the blockchain market.

Soon we will see the position of bitcoin at number 2, and ETH is the top one, I really do not like to use bitcoin, long transaction and big cost. Unlike ETH, the transaction is easy and the cost is very cheap

ETH will allow $2T of underground economy to become more structured (and possibly less underground) through DAOs.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2013/04/23/americas-2-trillion-shadow-economy-is-the-recessions-big-winner/

If it captures 1% of that $2T, it is equivalent to $20B, which would put ETH somewhere around $150. Those who sell for $2 will shit bricks, eat sand and may even commit suicide in the years to come. If it captures 10% of that ETH will be $1500. I know it sounds crazy, but so did the Internet in 1995.

Once it's launched their main focus will be on scalability, which I think is the real reason crypto is not ready for mainstream. Once they can handle 100K TPS (and I'm sure they will), it's game over.

The fact is now that Bitcoin is rampant. With the price, Pupolarity, market csp, Bitcoin is still on paper. However, for cost issues, Ethereum is perfect for daily transactions. For example shopping or something else. In essence, Bitcoin is still above Ethereum.

I personally do not think of it that way, for me bitcoin is the future of cryptocurrency and ETH is just altcoins that keep on following bitcoin. But somehow we do not know what will happen in the future to the world of crypto. I just want cryptocurrency to still exist.

The exchange rate is stable as Bitcoin and Ethereum I think in the future Ethereum will grow with a good pace that will allow to earn on its rate.

I do not see the point of arguing who is the first and who is the second, look at the coinmarketcap there everything is visible, real people vote with their money. And I disagree with this situation, bitcoin is pumped at the moment, a lot of business is done on the platform of the Etherium, I think that ETH should approach Bitcoin by capitalization, but it will remain the second number.

Development in ethereum is on going and very consistent. Unlike bitcoin, you do not have many faction that is turning both the currency and platform in different direction.

Between Bitcoin and Ethereum, the biggest difference is that Ethereum is not only a digital currency, but also a blockchain based platform. It has a Turing complete internal code, meaning that with enough time and computing power, anything can be built on top of it. This means it better supports this idea of smart contracts, introduced by Cypherpunk Nick Szabo in 1995, which are self executing pieces of code that can be used to build more complex applications on the blockchain beyond just payments, like exchanges of property or shares. Smiley
Ethereum is younger, moves faster, and is friendlier to developers than Bitcoin. I do forsee great potentials in Ethereum.
