What kind of hash rate should I expect from a gtx 980?  I think that I am going to give this a shot over at ethermine.org.  Anyone got a good bat for the pool?

Thanks

genoil why with the stratum mode, the cpu increase the usage to 50% when running the miner? talking about cheap g1840, with the non-stratum the cpu usage is much lower, half of that....

Are you sure it wasn't generating a DAG file while you were testing stratum? On my i5 dev box the stratum implementation actually seems to use a little less CPU. On the other hand, the stratum implementation is asynchronous multi-threaded, which your G1840 maybe doesn't really like as much as my i5 does. Perhaps I should do a synchronous stratum implementation some time.

no it's clearly the stratum implemented thing that has something to do with it, i tried with my other i7 4790k and i noticed an increase of the cpu usage as well up to 10%, 25% on the g1840

when i mine at dwarf pool using their stratum i'm not getting this usage, the cpu is sitting at 3% the g1840 a bit higher, but it's normal

still trying to get answers for why additional DAGs are created for some pools.. while nicehash manages to accept shares on a single DAG.

recently i have noticed an additional dag is created in my .ethash directory even when solo mining, except its not reported to console and there is no progress % updated. although it hogs an antire core of cpu usage for the time it takes for creation.

not much overclocking tbh - 3 cards are @ stock cores but downvolted by about 0.05V. 2 of cards are overclocked about 10 percent and @ stock volts. Temps are between 60°C and 70°C and one card is about 80°C. What --farm-recheck value should do the job? What's the default --farm-recheck vaule? I'm going to try 200 Smiley

Thanks!

Hello there,

Thank you for the new version of the miner!

Is the number of stales I'm getting ok (46 vs 270 accepted)? I'm not using stratum but getwork. Should I try to avoid stales? If so.. how can I do that?

It's a bit high. You could try lowering --farm-recheck or try the stratum mode and see if it makes any difference. Two actual Fails there. Much overclocking and heat going on there?

with the stratum mode the hashrate displayed is less then the one with dwarf plus stratum, 1 mega less for each of my 970, there is a reason for this?

edit, it's higher now, a little to slow to reach full hashrate...i also noticed more cpu usage in stratum mode

Ok, understand, another question genoil with stratum is incompatible with dwarfpool?
When i try to connect with pool soft crashes.

how to enable stratum mode with 1.0.8?

Do we need farm-recheck if stratum is present?

No. Also, 1.0.8. will default it to 2000 when stratum is enabled.

BTW Linux users of 1.0.8 are recommended to disable work-timeout (using --work-timeout 999) until we fix this bug: https://github.com/Genoil/cpp-ethereum/issues/38

If you still get it after this, please let me know.

In stratum mode a higher farm-recheck only gives a more stable hashrate display. 2000 works well. It doesn't affect actual miner efficiency.

Hi,
some questions, i always used dwarfpool and their ethproxy,
but, after some problems with the pool in the last days, i started to move a couple of rig to ethermine.org,
and use genoil with builtin stratum.
My question is: with stratum is better get a more stable hashrate by increasing the value of --farm-recheck or not?
My rig are all with r7 370 or r9 380, and i use this bat file:

setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
SET GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT=100

ethminer -G -S eu1.ethermine.org:4444 -O xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.home --farm-recheck 200 --cl-local-work 256 --cl-global-work 8192

Thanks for your opinions

I have no idea how is memory reserved, but what if on start miner attempt to reserve bigger buffer than needed for current DAG, say, big enough for (current epoch + 2)?

That's how Claymore's works. I have to assess the problem first to see if the problem even lies there. Judging by the fact that CUDA cards don't seem to crash (mine alos doesn't), it probably is an OpenCL related bug.

Perhaps it helps...my Rigs are not crashing while DAG change. All my Cards are Sapphire R9 390 - Win 10 64BIT Crimson 15.12 8GB RAM Virtual 16GB Miner Version: ethminer-0.9.41-genoil-1.0.7

How to run ethminer for each single miner gpu as one instance - multi miners?
Tried but not working - ethminer crash.
