I think he is blaming McLaren for what is going on with that statement but indirectly because they are currently in the later half of the season and doesn't want to look anymore negative than he has to be. Norris has all the right to be from the way they have been treating Oscar over him.
So in his own way he is saying "Ferrari did a better job(believe he is referring to their pitstops) and has the better car." according how the Italian GP turned out and the results they had over both him and Piastri taking first place in the race.

Sorry for being late but..... what the hell is Lando saying??? I can only say he wants to cover the missmanagement of McClaren, you cant say Ferraris has a better car..... when it was clear McClaren was a little bit ahead. The only diference was the Ferrari strategy who paid them because the tyres resist just in the edege, two more laps and Piastri was gonna overpass Leclerc very easy.

The fact that Red Bull has such odds makes me want to take that deal but I know that Mclaren will win it in the end. I mean it's clear that we are going to see Max do fine rest of the season but Perez will not, and even Max is finishing behind both Mclaren drivers so there is no way that Perez could keep the difference.
Unless a miracle happens and some genius in the team finds out what is going wrong with the car and suddenly they are back to last season there is absolutely no way Mclaren would lose, no way! The only tiny possibility would be Ferrari beating them, but that again is really a stretch.
I'm looking at team vs team for the championship and there are simply no bets available, as I would take for sure Ferrari over RB, they should be somewhere at least 1.5 right now, but no bookie offers that, the only head I got is at stake but for Ferrari vs Mercedes:

I don't know about others but this doesn't look a bit attractive to me, and getting money stuck for months on a bet ain't an option.
Piastri's saying "No comment." is no surprise to me.
What was he going to say? I was so focused on winning that I lost and made my teammate lose too.
Ferrari did pull a fast one on them with the stop but still....
This was all because Oscar is the rookie and thus has too listen to Zak Brown and his team orders which funnel down to him. He is trying to impress them and doesn't care about Norris and his chances at constructors championship. Piastri can hide behind Zak's skirt if Lando confronts him about what he has done on the track while the race is going on.

@Emrecemsan those odds look great and think I might take them even if I have to wait til the end of the season and have my stake amount locked up for that long.
They also have a rookie driver in Kimi Antonelli and more than likely let him have a go on a track if they don't score enough points to make it even close to third place near the end of the season against Ferrari.

Next race is the following week going to the Baku City Circuit track at Azerbaijan.

With Leclerc taking the Italian Grand Prix in convincing fashion.
I think McLaren after the race said they messed up pitting both drivers yet again to cost them first place.

Yuki retired and Max finished sixth place. Also no safety car or even a virtual one. Which was surprising since from Canada totaling seven races in a row.
So there has been some clean racing we had witnessed for the past few months straight.
Well done F1 drivers!

Yes, I'm so happy with the result.  Smiley  I was taking a pity on Leclerc as he wasn't able to get the results he wanted. But the win he wanted came just in the right time at the home of his team.

McLaren is really a joke. I really believe they don't care at all if Norris has a chance for the drivers championship or not. They only think about winning the constructors championship. This is ill thinking.

Piastri's saying "No comment." is no surprise to me.  Grin  But I'm not blaming it on him of course. McLaren was the one that should have told Piastri earlier not to make big difficulties for his teammate.

It's clear that Mclaren will get the title this season. Such an odd thing to say because I remember clearly just a few seasons ago, maybe not last season but the one before that, Zak Brown was about to get fired for having such terrible results, they started the season with incredibly bad results and because of that they ended up getting terrible media headlines too, and they were about to fire him, just as a new upgrade hit and ever since that day they have been getting better and better and better.

Aston Martin went the other way, during the same time when Mclaren was terrible, Aston Martin was amazing and instead of getting better they just ended up getting worse and worse, right now they are one of the worst ones out there. Sometimes, not upgrading or upgrading in a way that doesn't help as much as you think, could have some bad results, because others are keep improving at the same time.

You can even see it when they were in the breakroom right after the race with Lando's expression of WTF! with his fingers on his temple rubbing them together saying to himself "Why is McLaren sabotaging the season for me right before my eyes with these stupid team orders?"

RB is paying them  Grin Grin
I think McLaren messed up the last time and now they can't go back on that decision and they want to portray themselves as being fair to both pilots or something like that, with friendship and teamwork before anything else,  some really cringeworthy sentimental stuff. At this point they've dug their hole, no way they will ever try to push Lando to win, it would be like admitting they've screwed up!

Still, can't be that angry with them, it favors with my bets, McLaren for team, Max for driver.

Two weeks till Azerbaijan and I don't like the straight odds, Max is 7.5 and RB is 5.5.
Common, what is this? Does somebody really think Perez might get a win? Really?

Talking further about weird odds

RB 5:1 Ferrari 26:1 ?
I would take a bet of Ferrari beating RB the moment I saw it!

Let's see how Norris and Max will react, 8 races means that even if Norris wins, Max could be second and the difference would nearly be enough if I am not wrong, but looks like Max and podium will be a tough one, he is not doing that great and the car is not doing that great neither and he could get bad results for a while longer.

With this car Max on the podium will be an exception from the rule, dreaming of getting right behind the McLarens and beating the Ferrari and Mercedes every time is probably top of what they desire.

As for Lando, he got screwed out of his championship chances right at this moment, he had 17 points in grasp, and Piastri did a number on him, second time.
These points could then hurt Norris a lot at the end of the season and it's just a matter of one or two points to the world champion, I'm not a friend of the stable order and this time Piastri was just faster, but the last time Piastri (by a bad pit strategy) to let over again was clearly a mistake for me, hopefully it will not take revenge at the end of the season, by a few points.
That is true, Norris is so close and he needs to win every race he can, getting these results is not enough, he needs to win the races. The teams mistake cost him a lot of points and that's a very sad situation for him.

Piastri being second is also very and for them too, Norris should have taken that step, it's clear that they lost Norris two big positions with team orders now, they could have given Norris a chance to be much closer, and it's sad that he is not. I think it's sad not just for Norris, I am not just some Norris fan, neither a Max fan, I like watching all of them to be fair, but if the league was closer, it would be more fun. It's still close, 62 points and 8 races if I am not wrong, anything could happen at this level.

This means that Norris has a chance to win races where Max is not on the podium, and that could close the gap very quickly.

No one is really talking about this because all they see were both taking the podium but in actuality they messed up their season big time!

Even during a post-race interview Oscar had no comment if he would even help Lando. So team work has a double standard within the McLaren team? Alright then Zak Brown. You are favoring one driver over another. Very fair there!
Oscar Piastri "NO COMMENT" on if he'd help Lando.

Just for fun, I'm taking a no on Russell combinations with everyone to the podium with McLarens!

Rusell never disappoints when betting against him when he's in a god form, always manages to screw things from the start.
He will probably be my leading man when it comes to places and podiums, he never disappointed me when getting against.

As for Lando, he got screwed out of his championship chances right at this moment, he had 17 points in grasp, and Piastri did a number on him, second time.

What can't be said about Mclaren. It looks that they just don't want to fight for title. Yeah, maybe they will take constructors trophy, but that's all what they can do. Max finishing even at low positions aren't losing much to Norris and he can afford such results until end of season.

They need 8 points for the constructor, and that's done, it's McLaren against Max with a worse car, no way they can defend that, and I am actually looking at bets of RB losing the second spot to Ferrari.
For the driver title 62 points, 8 races, Lando needs 8 points per race, it will be a thing of beating the Mercedes, if he can't secure the 5th place by default Max will lose, no matter the mistakes at the top, RB right now is the 4th car in performance.

What can be better for Ferrari than winning home race, especially in such way like Leclerc did. Not Ferrari fan, but it's nice that finally we don't have to make memes about their strategy failures.

That was clean race and it ended so fast - for Leclerc it took just 1 hour 14 minutes to finish race, can't remember when we had such short race.
BTW, Kevin Magnussen will miss Azerbaijan GP - he managed to collect 12 points during this season what means that he is banned for 1 race. Such things doesn't happen that often. He will be replaced by Oliver Bearman.

I missed the race but Verstappen at 7th is somehow shocking.
Norris, I guess it was obvious because he was the heavy favorite in the qualifying match but Max was the 2nd favorite so it's really surprising what position he ended up in.

So the question.
Will Norris keep his position at the next Race.

https://sportsbet.io/sports/event/formula-1/formula-1/italian-grand-prix-2024-race/italian-grand-prix-2024-race-66d19f1eb9a8670001eaceae
Now, Oscar Piastri is the 2nd heavy favorite but I think Norris will win this Italian race. Might as well put my bet on him while the odds are this good. I hope no surprises will happen.

I mean Norris was amazing in the last race. You would remember how big the gap was between him and Verstappen.  Grin  People created theories such as Verstappen started to slow down after realizing he wouldn't be able to catch him. They say he did it to show the importance of the bad condition of the car. But to tell the truth, this is nonsense.  Tongue

By the way the start was really interesting. Piastri took the lead and Russell was the biggest loser. Leclerc also gained 2 positions which was great to see...

I hope to see a Ferrari podium today.  Roll Eyes  It is home GP for them.

I am sticking with my gut on this one and saying Norris is going to take it. He has the laser focus needed as everyone can see from qualifying yesterday that he is ready and posed to take this one at Monza.
Unless of course his team asks him to relinquish first place again because they felt sorry for Oscar about not having a win in F1 yet. Well he has one so there is no excuse for them to tell him to do that ever again.
Let the drivers race and have that determination to win from start of the season right up until the end I say! Angry

Today is Carlos Sainz birthday and this will be his final race with the team so it will be an emotional race for him certainly:

It shouldn't be one to miss as there will be fireworks for sure if Lando Norris wins it.
Mclaren would that much closer to Red Bull in the standings if Perez gets knocked out than both Oscar and Lando would take the maximum amount of points in Italy! Cool

If Mclaren gets more points than RB I'm cashing out my bet on Betfair for the championship, it's already down to 1.15 from 1.57 two races ago, I will keep the other one running as I don't have the option but I'm pretty confident RB will lose the title. As for the driver's standings, I'm still with Max, despite drifting from 1.28 to 1.44, even if he scores no point (highly doubt it), if it goes to over 1.75 I'm doubling down on it!

Just for fun, I'm taking a no on Russell combinations with everyone to the podium with McLarens!

Those odds must be the highest for Verstappen ever in his career since he started in the F1. Him and Hamilton are nearly the same @19 & @21.
Oscar Piastri is the closest to Norris then Russell so this would reflect their starting points on the grid for the race tomorrow.

Norris is on the pole which isn't a big surprise anymore. Piastri is tailing him right behind by a really small gap. But probably Norris will be much faster in racing pace.

I really didn't expect this from Ferrari. I thought one of them would be competitive for pole position at least, especially Leclerc. But he wasn't satisfied with the balance of his car and it affected his performance directly.  Sad

Verstappen had a terrible day. Ending the season in such a bad place will make things even harder for him. He has already been struggling with the car because of a similar reason to Leclerc's.
