Hamilton is a driver whose talent level is way higher than Verstappen. And I don't think that some other driver will be able to break the records that Hamilton did for a long time period. The only reason why people support Verstappen who is an arrogant driver is that Hamilton has been dominating F1 for a long time and people just want a change.

I agree with you, because everything starts to get boring and tedious when we don't see anything else changing.

Even for Hammilton, we know he was frustrated with the loss that was somehow unfair (not guilty but unfair), but wasn't that more thrilling?
One more challenge for next season where he will get in a car and think: "I'm not invincible anymore, I need to run even better instead of starting to settle down and thinking I'll easily receive my trophy."
yeah Hamilton is a very experienced driver and experience is not enough to win you 7 WC so he definitely have talents as we all saw that in his first year he was very close on winning his first WC if he didn't have Alonso as teammate he would have won cause both drivers were aiming for the championship but Kimi won it by one point at the end.
So that's something that clearly makes you think that Hamilton is considered the best out there its true Mercedes dominance helped with his records bur still car will not drive by itself.

The new season of the Drive to Survive documentary is on the way. And we are going to be able to watch it some time in 2022 seemingly. I can't wait to see the new season after leaving an unbelievable season behind. I already watched all of the three seasons and enjoyed each one of them a lot. I can't even imagine the rate of enjoyment of the coming season. I hope that they make a great season and make us happy.  Smiley

Until that show I didnt realise the busines was so cut-throat.

I knew it was bad, but I didn't expect it to be this bad. I've watched them all, I can't wait for the new batch.
And I now have... quite some more sympathy for certain drivers... Cheesy

It's clearly eye opening, it clearly worth watching.

All thats happened during the season and especially for the championship race makes for good material towards the next Drive to Survive series on Netflix.

If you haven't watched it yet I recommend you do so to catch up on the past three seasons of the documentary in the world of F1 and it's drivers.
https://www.engadget.com/recommended-reading-netflix-formula-1-drive-to-survive-150045531.html
It turned me into an instant fan only after watching the first season.
https://www.theguardian.com/media/2021/dec/17/netflixs-drive-to-survive-americans-f1-fans

Season 4 will have all the drama, excitement and also the controversy to make it the best one yet.
Honestly as soon as Liberty Media got the rights to F1 and all, they started doing amazing marketing and they have been doing this Netflix series as a new fresh blood thing. I remember watching maybe 15 years ago, and I restarted watching 2-3 seasons ago because of it basically, not because I watched it, I didn't but I saw it and I went "wait a minute why don't I watch F1 directly instead of this thing" and cameback watching it all over again.

Honestly it has been amazing fun this season, doesn't matter if you are a Max fan or Lewis fan or just F1 fan, you must be feeling amazing after a season like that because it was really close.

I am guessing the season of drive to survive regarding this season will be one of the most watched seasons ever, it is really awesome. You also got to see some stuff that you haven't seen before which is why it is definitely awesome. Like we all saw Grosjean thing, but we never really knew what really happened, watching it really put a lot of perspective into it.

Only last Monday we were chatting about the Netflix Drive to Survive,
I only thought there was one series which I watched with Intrigue.
That show has really grown interest for the sport which lets face it
to many its just cars going round, and around, and around . . .

Until that show I didnt realise the busines was so cut-throat. I didnt
realise there were other series, I will be sure to catch these over the holidays.

The season we have just left behind was just insane. I assume that we saw nearly everything we could see in a competitive F1 season. Especially the last races were incredibly exciting. I watched all of the seasons of the Drive to Survive documentary on Netflix also. And I'm really looking forward to watching the new season.  Cheesy  Because it is going to be so exciting as we will see a lot of drama considering the race for the title especially.

I stopped watching F1 many many moons ago when Michael Schumacher was so
dominant to the point where every race win became kind of predictable. Now that Hamilton
has been beaten to the championship this year It hopefully makes next season that bit more
exciting, every sport needs a shake-up.
OK Hamilton may be the better driver but the excitement is to see that top driver pushed...and beaten.

You probably just missed the most epic world championship ever.
This year will be remembered for decades like the year of Senna-Prost.

Next year will probably have a shuffle but maybe they will always have these 2 teams dominating, nobody can predict it.

For sure if another team will have a good idea for the top 3 teams will be easier to copy the idea and recover.

Well I didnt see many races but have been following the adventures of Max
because we have connections to The Netherlands and would be rooting for
him.

I remember the Senna-Prost early 90's era along with Schumacher, Hill and Alonso
rivalries, I will be paying more atention next year, hopefully the challenge
will continue. If its as close next year it will be difficult to bet on winners.

I think that is bound to happen in any sport, people like winners but when someone dominates for so long and with such a large margin over the rest of the participants then it becomes boring.

If anything this has the chance to increase the popularity of F1, after all if next season we see Hamilton once again head to head with Verstappen then that rivalry will bring more viewers, similar to what we saw with Federer and Nadal at Tennis.

Mercedes still see Lewis Hamilton as their own champion of the season even though FIA made a big mistake and didn't accept it. And Hamilton fans welcomed him very warmly. It was really hell of a season that we saw every kind of incident happened. By the way, FIA president has changed and Mohammed bin Sulayem has been elected as the new president. He is a very experienced former driver who became rally champion so many times. I wonder if there will be something changing in F1 as of now. Maybe we could start seeing fairer decisions about sensitive incidents from now on and I hope so.

Felicitaciones. He was a 14-time Middle East Rally Champion. My earnest wish and desire is that he  continues his great career as a driver by bringing innovation and more popularity to motorsport and fair race director to F1, because it needs it right now. If the FIA do not have heads rolling before the start of next season, then I would not be surprised to see Sir Lewis never step back into F1.

As expected, Mercedes probably requested FIA to just destroy the current power structure and that is how they agreed to withdraw the appeal. I mean this couldn't continue but the fact that there would be a lot of people who are at power and a lot of people who would be checking those powers doesn't change it, the fact that rules will be changed is the most important thing right now.

There isn't anything that is as great as the rulebook being a loophole heaven where the race director could literally give the race to one or the other based on whatever power he has at that moment. Which is why it is smart to change the rulebook and make it rock solid and there wouldn't be anything at all that would be subjective, everything will be based on the rules and everyone will be equals.

Mercedes decided to withdraw their last appeal and I wasn't surprised by it. FIA weren't going to acknowledge Mercedes to be right anyway. In this sport, we shouldn't see this kind of incidents. FIA are making this sport seem worse when they make such decisions. They should act without favouring any side. This was definitely a big disrespect to Mercedes that they didn't even care about their point. Maybe they will "review" their decision but it wouldn't change anything probably.
Guessing by your nickname, I believe you are really disappointed Wink
But yes, too much politics. Probably(?) decision would be different if there were more than 1-2 laps left - then overlapped cars would not be a problem for Max (on a new tyres).
Anyway I think that decision about Spa was worst - they just stole fans' money.
Luckily Sportsbet.io seemed to agree with those sediments and decided to payout those who took Hamilton as the winner on their betslips as described in this from the Sportsbet.io Ann thread just a little while ago:

Also, on some other news.. for all you Formula 1 fans out there.. It has no doubt been a pretty huge couple of days after the fall out of the last race of the season.   Cool Cool

We certainly saw a season that will go down in history as one of the best ever, regardless of your favorite drivers and opinions of events.   Wink

Our Sportsbet Director Joe Mac had no hesitation in choosing to payout all bets as winners for both  Lewis and Max Race Winner and F1 Drivers Championship market.   Shocked Shocked

Hoping some of you were on those markets!

regards,

Steve.

It is kind of Sportsbet to make payment to the bettors who placed a bet on Hamilton to win the title. If I'm not mistaken, Sportsbet made the payments of the bets won and refunded the lost ones for the Belgian GP. I hope that they can have a live bet service for the next F1 season.

Indeed, it was done by a fan of Max. I've took it only because it's more complete than I could make a list. And I agree that's biased and far from 100% complete.
The point/problem is that there were far too many judging mistakes this season... and not only this one, actually, just the number of mistakes may have reached a threshold this time.
This is the biggest case here, this is the biggest reason why Max fans do not care about what happened at the last race and how Max got the win. If it was fair all season long and FIA gave decent rulings for the both side then it will be fine. Even if you can say that Max got some favorable ruling "as well", that just shows that FIA gives ruling willy nilly without caring about the rule book, if Max got favorable rulings that is wrong as well and here is the proof that Hamilton got it too, it is just that FIA was never strict and always gave wrong decision that was constantly complaint and they never fixed themselves.

The season would have been over before the last race if Hamilton got the punishments he deserved or Max did, but they were doing it for TV so they kept it close. All in all the last one was bad but it wasn't the only one at all.

They finally figured out that such negotiations are generally unacceptable for fair competition.  It is very good that such a decision is being made.  The last talks of the Mercedes boss in Abu Dhabi, when he emotionally shouted "no, no, no ...!"  (as I read the transcript of the negotiations) this is completely unacceptable.
So dictating the refereeing is like in football, the head coach will go up to the referee and say "no, dear, you all miscalculated this goal. Grin"  It's just insanity.

In short, the correct decision.
