The next track on the F1 tour is the Australian Grand Prix, so this is a totally different beast.
Ferrari won it last season and did it in good form, but with all of what we have seen from the red side, I don't know if they can pull it off again unbeknownst a miracle from down under.
Not sure if Verstappen and Perez are in good terms with eachother from after the last race.
But that just might be the media trying to stir some drama between the two red bulls for the DTS netflix show making a soap opera like storyline they have concocted or maybe for a behind the scenes.

The only surprise is that they've managed to do the car this good this fast.
Yes, it's really impressive, especially considering how easy it is for Aston Martin to beat Ferarri.
It's really a bit sad how Ferrari performs compared to last season. While Leclerc had a good fight (and even a big lead) early last season, Ferarri seems to be way slower compared to last season while almost all teams improved this season, especially RedBull, Aston Martin and Williams but also Alpine, Haas and Alfa Romeo to a lesser degree. There are currently only few losers: McLaren, Mercedes and Ferrari, of course.  Cheesy
And when we consider how weak Ferrari's in-season development has been going for a few years (Mercedes and RedBull are known for a very strong in-season development), Ferrari might not even fight for a podium in a few races, when in-season development from other teams gains traction.
Ferarri really needs to get shit done ASAP...

Aston Martin's car seems to be a hybrid between three different cars from last years variants:
Alpine, Mercedes and Red Bull.

Since they've attracted onto their payroll a lot of smart people from all the teams they could this is not much of a surprise.

Aston Martin's car seems to be a hybrid between three different cars from last years variants:
Alpine, Mercedes and Red Bull.
Alpine for their pod concept with the curve on the top which is not similar to any of the above mentioned car designs.
Mercedes for the front wing design but has slight variations to make it even more aerodynamically superior in every sense of the word.
And last but certainly not least the Red Bull Racing RB18 in it's over all body structure from the 2022 season.
Hence the joke from Sergio at the end of the premier race back in Bahrain.
https://www.planetf1.com/news/sergio-perez-joins-aston-martin-banter-bahrain
Well Aston Martin did a really good job but where I think Red Bull is the strongest is evolution of the car with every race. Having them start so good is bad sign for rest of field and for viewers. I was watching every pre season testing and photos from cars to find out who has the edge. I still think Ferrari is better then it shows the standing but we will see. If you like hopium let's pray that punishment Red Bull got last year to limit the time in wind tunnel etc. will help other teams catch up. Will they be too far in standings at that point?

Toto Wolf basically said that Red Bull having a big domination is not something they should be guilty of, or FIA be guilty of, that's the nature of the sport and they had it from 2014 to 2020 as well and sometimes this happens and its part of the sport. I think he is right and this domination that Red Bull has will go on for as long as other teams can't catch them, if other teams start building better cars and reach to their level then we can have some difference. Look at 2021, sure you can argue if FIA gave the title to Max or not on the last lap, but it is true that Red Bull reached close to Mercedes that year, so other teams should try to do that towards Red Bull as well. This year is already over from just two races, we know Red Bull will win, but they should work on next years car right away.

Surely I was really too surprised by Max Verstappen he climb 13 places and went ahead of Fernando Alonso in lap 25
I don't think it is so much surprising from Max because he won from P14 to P1 last year right? In the Belgian GP 2022? That's what he could do especially with a great car, he really has performed so well. What makes me more amazed is how it was handled with the overtaking. Just wow.

Well, this is the 1st time that I am seeing it because it is the 2nd time watching a race, well like I have said I was a fan of Ferrari back then and well Michael Schumacher was number 1, so that is back in 2003, I think until Fernando Alonso take it on 2005, well Max Verstappen really has great talent and I am still seeing the recent champions that I have missed in the F1 back on 2003, so relearning history I guess, and watching Max Verstappen he surely got  quite the skill in taking the lead one after the other, but I guess he was out of time for the final lap and Fernando Alonso got penalized and manage only the 3rd position, but still Red Bull still on the lead and won with Sergio Pérez as the lead in the Jeddah Corniche Circuit,

Surely I was really too surprised by Max Verstappen he climb 13 places and went ahead of Fernando Alonso in lap 25 while Fernando Alonso has given a penalty which is why George Russell has given the 3rd place, while Fernando Alonzo was very frustrated, on what has happened, while Sergio Pérez was the champion for the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix 2023 the way he handles Jeddah Corniche Circuit and keep the lead for himself was really amazing but the most impressive was really Max Verstappen cutting pass 13 or 12 cars ahead of him, that is one incredible feat for him, here are the video highlights for the race on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxGpi0racMc]Saudi Arabia Grand Prix
Max is Max and he did the exact same thing last season on the Belgian track. The Red Bull machine is just too strong and if they need a climb 15 places they can do it, not a problem. It is really quite remarkable really.
On a dime for what he has achieved so far with only his own team mate one bettering him shows you what their engineers have on their hands.

@boltz Yeah, they have 100% record of having a safety car deployed on that track. So I don't know why I thought Sunday was the day to not have one to cost me a nice payout on my betslip.

@crwth Alonso was very lucky at having the team of Aston Martin requested a review by FIA committee on the 10 second penalty.

Fernando had fun time with what happened as you can see from this hilarious tweet he put out after all was set and done:

He was a good sport and took it all in stride. Didn't seem to be upset or argue too much at having his 100th podium place taken away from him at the time.
Very cool and chill nando!

Max is really Max, well Max Verstappen really has some skill and potential but yes the Machine or the vehicles of Red Bull right now is quite powerful and surely this is the design of Adrian Martin Newey that the machine of red bull is so much powerful Adrian Newey has focused more on Aerodynamics that the body of the car is pretty much lightweight, he ingenuity for Newey have Mercedes and Aston struggle surely a lot,

Fernando Alonzo, instead of being upset about what happened well is surely all fun and loving, while right now we are entering the Australian GP and the track is  Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit, and we had a long break because the next game will take place On April April 2

Max has around @2.3 odds to win the race...are you kidding me right now ?  Shocked Shocked like how much ahead his car actually is ? because it looks to me like he could be placed with 1 lap behind and he would still catch a top 5... . Anyway , I still hope for a great race with some key battles for key positions and maybe a safety car ? That car always have it's presence on this track.

However , my bet is completely on Piastri on this track because he loves it so much from F2.

Ferrari is still down in engine, lets see if they can compete.

Excluding RBR, the rest of the grid can be in 1 second-ish

It was clearly going to be domination for Red Bull again, Max Verstappen set up yet again another good record and he is getting used to the Jeddah Corniche Circuit cutting off perfectly to every corner, while Sergio Perez is also OK with it both Red Bull racers surely have some tips for them in navigating to the Jeddah Circuit, while rival Aston Martin Fernando Alonso is having the 3rd position for this 3rd practice, Sad to say I love Ferrari (the car) landed yet again in a close position Charles Leclerc in the 6th position while Carlos Sainz in the 10th position, while Nyck de Vries a driver that didn't drive and set no time,

Verstappen had just had problems with his transmission. He was shifting into third gear then it just locked up on him.
Announcers are saying it could be a drive shaft or a transmission failure in qualifying 2.
This could be detrimental for how the grid formation goes for race. Red Bull needs a new gearbox to fix it.
Alot of people had him being in pole tomorrow but no more. His day is done for qualifying for today.

Even with that kind of problem Max Verstappen really did a great job with the 3 practices and this has assured Red Bull that their 2 drivers will land another 1st and 2nd position tomorrow, this is for sure if there would be just smooth driving and no technical problem with their vehicle because Aston Martin is just behind the corner, and it was said that Fernando Alonso can still drive more than an hour on the Circuit because his car is really performing very well we will surely see what may happen tomorrow,

I'm still expecting a fight from him tomorrow even if he goes last on the grid as his cars also allows him to make a recovery race but I guess we will see tomorrow.

I'm glad that I saw Ferrari having at least a decent lap and put a great effort from Leclerc to put his car 2nd fast even if he has that grid penalty but the car performed much better than the practice seasons when they were nowhere a great pace.

George Russel seems to somehow having a better knowledge of his car and even if he still struggles with the car , he managed to place with car 4th fastest and he will start tomorrow from 3rd place and he will try to overtake if he has the occasion but on the same time , I do want a duel between Alonso and Perez.

Oh what a surprise. Max Verstappen is top of both practice 1 & 2. Only 3 left to see if any of the other cars even have a chance at the Red Bull on the fastest track for the F1 circuit before qualifying starts later on today.
Have an acca I had made before the engine penalty given to Ferrari on Friday. It was for Leclerc to get pole position winning the qualification run. Well that is more than likely not going to happen from what we have all seen so far.
It is looking like another Red Bull Dominated race at Saudi Arabia this weekend.

Funny how Ferrari is going from "this season is screwed " towards " we have such a package that we can continue to improve it during all races from now on" . Well....we're waiting , don't we ? I think all Ferrari fans desire to see them winning a championship one more time but having such a confidence in your car after in first race they had a DNF , makes me thinks maybe they are insane or trying to hide their mistakes or that car really have something special that can be improve during this year... Grin

Not really looking good for the Ferrari team Carlos Sainz landed 7th position on the FP1 while Charles Leclerc landed in the 11th position for the FP1 it was really a struggle for most drivers and for their 1st drive in the Jeddah Corniche Circuit 1st practice run so it is really complicated putting your bet for them and even though Sergio Perez got a hard time in his 1st run he still manages to land on the 2nd spot, while Max Verstappen is putting a great show and making a 1:29.617 time while in the FP2 Perez now landed 3rd, while Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso makes a great job and getting a hang on this Circuit,

Many are really complaining about this track and this Circuit was then modified and has less change than the last one so racers that have an experience in the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, will have a difficult time with these little changes, for many are really having a difficult time in dealing with this Circuit, here are the results for the FP1 and FP2 Pactices you can click the picture for provided videos,

Wasn't Ferrari in the very same mindset with the second race last season?
This "we are doomed" scenario with the race just kicking off in the season's schedule just seems to be ridiculous.

Meanwhile the race weekend is about to kick-off in about 1 hour 30 minutes according to the countdown clock on the official F1 website and they have a new programme for everyone to be able to follow any updates on the races live.
So you can check that out available now on the official F1 site to have a convenient way to access everything from the practice runs all the way up to the final race on race Sundays:

Check out our all-new digital race programme for this weekend's Formula 1 stc Saudi Arabian Grand Prix 2023 in Jeddah, including features on Mercedes' George Russell and new Williams team boss James Vowles - plus stats on all 10 teams...

I still want to believe that Ferrari can do better but after what I saw in FP1 and FP2 , I really doubt Ferrari can have the pace for being 2nd team in F1 because its becoming clear that Aston Martin really have a complete package from car to drivers and engineers and also a great engine from Mercedes that somehow fits more well in AM than in Mercedes itself ... .

I'm so curious what qualifiers will bring tomorrow but after what I saw in first race , I have flashbacks from the legendary year of Michael of 2002 where he simply dominated the championship by a mile and competition really stood no chance and if I remember correctly he had over 60 points advantage from 2nd place which was Barrichello. Yup! that is why there are initial Practices so racers that are new to the Circuit or have a new vehicle will be familiar with the curve and when will they turn to corners, I think the 1st practice tomorrow will be crucial for most racers, and their vehicles as well, well the fastest recorded time in the Jeddah Corniche Circuit was and Audi RS 3 LMS TCR (2021) with a time record of 1:16.986 that was driven by Gilles Magnus, in the 2022 WTCR Race of Saudi Arabia event,
With the free practice in Jeddah, it's definitely seen there that the Red Bulls are still leading even with a rocky start with the two, like with the understeering with their cars but they had managed and they got P1 and P2 for that. The Aston Martins have gotten really good with P3 and P4, and the Mercedes at P5 and P6.

I can't wait the qualifying for this one.
