Funny how Ferrari is going from "this season is screwed " towards " we have such a package that we can continue to improve it during all races from now on" . Well....we're waiting , don't we ? I think all Ferrari fans desire to see them winning a championship one more time but having such a confidence in your car after in first race they had a DNF , makes me thinks maybe they are insane or trying to hide their mistakes or that car really have something special that can be improve during this year... What makes it challenging is the track itself, for sure. Like the long straights and flowing corners, you really have to be careful by maintaining high speeds while doing those corners you know. There are tight turns that really push you to the edge and I think there would be some action in the actual race or something. The track is definitely hard, and it's a new track so less practice for them and less reference data.

Yup! that is why there are initial Practices so racers that are new to the Circuit or have a new vehicle will be familiar with the curve and when will they turn to corners, I think the 1st practice tomorrow will be crucial for most racers, and their vehicles as well, well the fastest recorded time in the Jeddah Corniche Circuit was and Audi RS 3 LMS TCR (2021) with a time record of 1:16.986 that was driven by Gilles Magnus, in the 2022 WTCR Race of Saudi Arabia event,

Ferrari should be stronger on this track cause they are the fastest on the straight line. Now the thing that will decide if this race will be close is tire management. If Ferrari has better tire degradation then in Bahrain we can have a interesting race in our hand this weekend.

What straight line? I think this Circuit just has 3 or 4 straight lines and I think Jeddah Corniche Circuit is composed of 24 corners that are really absurd for new racers, but I guess F1 vehicles can out-maneuver this kind of circuit, it was really exciting to analyze the Circuit that racers will go race on and I think they already devise a tactical plan in approaching such obscure Circuit, and I think Sergio Perez already has some idea about this track because he surely got the 2nd fastest time recorded on this track with 1:28:200, using the Red bull Racing RB18

Well ,this season is already kinda over for my boys Ferrari and Charles really don't deserve this as he just got a penalty.

Quote " BREAKING: Charles Leclerc set for Jeddah grid penalty following a switch to a third Control Electronics unit of the season 🛠️ "

I really feel sorry for Charles man as the kid deserves a strong and reliable car because he was the only one who beat Max during kart days and man...I really want to see these 2 fight with almost equal cars.

This was really a bummer well it is not Charles Leclerc's fault it was the idea of the Ferrari team was forced to be replaced the Energy Store and Control Electronics on Leclerc’s engine which is a big No for the F1 Racing community, when Charles Leclerc shouted no power on his vehicle, this is not really looking good now for the Ferrari, and right now Max Verstappen is the championship, leader.

This is my 1st time posting here and because I may have a liking to Racing but this is F1 racing well, it is still racing, and upon reading the previous post and seeing the upcoming practices and main matches that are upcoming, seeing the Bahrain GP Red bull team really outdid the Bahrain GP in both F1 driver  have gotten the 1st and the 2nd spot, Max Verstappen on the 1st position while Sergio Perez on the 2nd position, Well I love Ferrari (the car) but they just landed in the 4th position and the 19th position well looking at the Bahrain International Circuit I think it is quite easy, but in the next Circuit it is going to be quite difficult for most of the racers, well that's because of the absurd form of the Jeddah Corniche Circuit and because it contains the most corners in the entire F1 calendar with 24 corners if I am not mistaken and here is the Jeddah Corniche Circuit Map,

Also it was a strange race for Gasly. He was P20 but somehow climbed up so fast and nearly had fastest lap of the race if it weren't for Zhou on the very end. He ended the race P9.
The rookies didn't fair too well in this race so they need more experience on the tracks if they want to place anywhere near the top among the best.
Why was it strange? Gasly had a great race for sure. The rookies needs a good car and I hope their team could give it to them. I believe that it's more of a car thing rather than a driver thing. But of course the strategy how to handle overtaking needs experience and they don't have that much yet. Let's see.
It was Gasly who was in 20th place during the race who had managed to make up 11 places to take 9th.
That is what was strange from the former Alpha Tauri driver turned into a Ricciardo overnight. You remember how Daniel ended the season last year?
Keeps that stellar performance right for the end of the season is bad and no wonder he went to Red Bull as a backup for the top guns.
Gasly's performance out of qualifying was dead last. Remember his result after Q1? I guess not because I didn't see him getting into the place he ended up.
I understand. At least now it's at the start of the season and I hope that his stellar performance continues as he said, he already has points up the board already. With his performance, he definitely is surprised as well. At least his team could be fired up for the next GP and hopefully, they would deliver again. We will see the performance soon.

Funny how the analysis said Norris was the best near the end of the race. Cause I thought he would of fallen off as did Leclerc with engine failure.
His teammate was one of the first to go just on his 13th lap.

These videos of the race from the Formula 1 channel are the ones that I like to see after it is all over.

Alonso's Joyful Return To The Podium And the Best Team Radio | 2023 Bahrain Grand Prix
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmL14W9-MB4

Very good to see this for a well respected driver in the sport as he is the most experienced one of them all running on his 18 season as an F1 driver with 32 wins, 22 poles and 99 podiums in his career.

revision:
I swear I think someone from F1 media for them are following this thread.

They just posted another video for Fernando Alonso making it to P3 and how it all unfolded about 45 minutes ago.
Marvelous video to watch for anyone who is a fan of F1 and to see how all other teams are looking at Aston Martin as of now!

Did you guys see this? Hamilton and Alonso. They "made contact" LOL

https://twitter.com/FiftyBucksVT/status/1632445635172376577?s=20

]I was surprised that Aston Martin is that good.
I was surprised that McLaren is that bad.
The car they have now contends with the top teams. That's amazing.

I am also happy for Sainz, I don't know if it was luck or better management of the car (compared with Leclerc), but he did finish on a not-too-bad position.
I think it's just bad luck with Leclerc's car. It just ran out of power

Meanwhile Piastri

And Ocon

It's so funny.

Great race for Alonso, great race for Gasly and very strong start of the year for RedBull.

What a race! It's definitely the Red Bulls race there, and that's the start they wanted. Damn, their cars are definitely the ones to beat.

I'm amazed at how the Aston Martin cars have performed, and even Fernando Alonso says that the car is amazing. They are definitely one of the top teams now to beat. I'm not sure if Alonso could be 3rd if Charles didn't have a malfunction in the car, but that definitely upset Ferrari for sure.

Mercedes has a lot of work to do if they want to stay competitive with the competition.

As a person with zero knowledge in F1, it was really strange following some of the news, and even stranger following these discussions Smiley

There should be one big page of guidance to tell viewers, like okay, what can happen now with tired, or what is the expected outcome from getting floor to fix (what is even this hehe).

Amazing, in a way, it's like walking in candyshop Smiley

The floor of the car is the main thing with this generation the car, is the bigger component to build an huge downforce.
If it is not working properly you will be slower in turns and be a big problem for the duration of the tires.

Ferrari during the tests got problems on tires with long simulations for the race, to try to fix it they build a new bottom of the car hoping it will fix it.

Q3 is progress and both Red Bulls are trying to fend off Ferrari but it is so close for Leclerc/Sainz and Verstappen same as last season.

I am liking Alonso out of the Aston Martins to do something tomorrow during the race since Stroll has a wrist injury and can only crank his steering wheel so far one-handed.

Very exciting stuff so far!
That was kinda flex from Stroll right ? He knows that Drugovich once he gets that wheel he will do a bit of magic and maybe he is a bit afraid of that and decided to push and made to a massive P8 in my opinion.

Tomorrow , should be one hell of a race and don't count out the Ferrari boys yet , even if RedBull showed once again that their cars is kinda flawless. Also strange how Charles didn't decide to push for one more lap as I doubt they will have a strategy with 2 slicks and 1 medium because if that is the case then I'm afraid RedBull are way more powerful than we all saw today if Ferrari needs to adapt to such thing in first race.
Can't see Ferrari doing much in this race when it comes Red Bull and expect pure domination by Max and Checo today.
For the darkhorse in this race I can see Nyck De Vries doing something just to show the rest of the grid that he isn't there to mess around and to race to the maximum to his ability. I see alot of potential in this kid and him moving up from P19 quickly to make it in the top 3.
Even though he is one of the three rookies to drop out of Q1 early yesterday:

I know it looks bad ATM, but they do seem hopeful for that set of upgrades that are coming with that race. As they mentioned, they already froze the current design of the MCL60 about a month or two ago, because they realized that they wouldn't get what they were aiming at aerodynamically, which is why they're looking for that race as it will probably represent a drastic change in philosophy for that segment.

I've only seen the first day of pre-season and I've stopped there. I think that the first two races will tell much more than the test would do.
Plus, if Mercedes is so far behind, I kinda doubt Aston Martin would be that close.
I hope that the gaps (overall) are not that big and that we'll see some nice racing. I'm curious if Oscar or Nyck will perform some miracles on the grid; I wish they will Wink

I watched the quali yesterday, and technically, McLaren improved over the last year:

Lando P13 -> P11 (was 0.7 faster compared to 2022)
Piastri (Ric) P19 -> P18

Technically  Grin

Realistically it's still a sh**box, and bottom line Lando once again is pulling a miracle here with what he has.  Cheesy He definitely looked frustrated in the post-quali interview.

I've seen P3 and there Aston Martin and Mercedes have also looked strong. Max may have some real opposition this year. And if so it'll be great!

Mercedes and Ferrari were destroying tires in the tests.
Aston Martin was better but Ferrari got a new floor to fix the problem, did they do it?

Otherwise should be an easy win for Max.
