This World Cup has already brought many surprises, the elimination of Denmark, Germany, Belgium and probably Uruguay was or was not foreseeable. But I'm always happy for underdogs like Morocco, Japan and Australia.

This way, everything remains more balanced than before and also exciting for spectators outside Europe and South America. Unfortunately, I miss "Azzurro" Italy a bit in the whole World Cup, but that's just the way it is when you don't show full concentration in the qualifiers.

For today, I have the feeling that Portugal, South Korea, Brazil and Switzerland will advance.

japan beat spain
I can't believe it, tell me this is a daydream because this would never have happened in the real world
I don't understand how this could have happened, of course I'm happy about it
but i honestly thought it impossible (and i lost my bet)

Now, what a big surprise Japan was. Although their seconf goal should not be accepted, they deserved the win. Due to that Germany stayed behind which is something unseen. So, for this next phase, we are up with several teams that no one was expecting. This cup is turning out to be something very interestant to watch.

I was optimistic about Asian teams from the start, but my expectation was that Iran and Australia would perform better. The quality of local leagues in Japan is not that good, and in general that country has an ageing population. So along with South Korea, I wasn't expecting much from Japan. But they surprised everyone by defeating two of the strongest teams from UEFA. That said, being an Asian I can't ignore the good performance from Australia as well. They very much deserve the PQF spot, after their win against Danmark.

It is not unseen at all for Germany to not pass the group stages, they did the same in the 2018 World Cup or 2014 don't remember well which was but they could not pass the group at that tournament too.The problem of Germany is their coach who wants to implement the tika-taka style of football that Guardiola introduced at Barcelona,by doing so Germany has lost their identity as football winners and this needs to be corrected as soon as possible.I personally think that the tika taka style did more damage than benefit to football in general but that is just my opinion.

If it is not that goal which is unclear even with VAR, Japan can score another winning goal. With their discipline and good motivation, they can break the defense of Spain down later.

Moreover, Spain did not show that they actually want to equalize or win that match after Japan got that goal. With that result, Spanish players knew that they will end at a second position in the group and will fall into an more easily branch later.

Will Japan repeat a success for Korea in World Cup 2002 in Japan and Korea? Will they go to even semi final?

Both Spain and Germany were not in their brightest form, Spain is even better than Germany. It does not mean that they don't have good players. Germany front line is complete Bayern Munich front line. You will see Gnabry, Musiala, Muller, Sane and more and yet they could not proceed to the next stage.
The success of Japan is like success of Greece in Euro 2004 and it won't be repeated easily with same defensive approach. They mostly scored goals with half of chance they had. It was also supported by unlucky opponents. If either Germany or Spain had scored one more goal in their first halfs, Japan would have lost and even have lost big.

Bad news for Belgium as they're out of the world cup after failing to win Croatia in their last game inother to qualify for the round of 16. Roberto Martinez have step down as head coach of Belgium, the 49years old Spaniard would look for new opportunities elsewhere. Belgium have one of their worst world cup records in Qater, not just them but also tough country couldn't make it, for instance Germany. The 2022 world cup is crucial and I'm surprised that the underrate countries are the one putting up the fight and winning.

Shocking news in tonight game as Germany failed to qualify from the group stage for the second time in a row. It's very dissapointing to see Julian Nagelsmann incap able of taking his country to the next stage of the world cup. However, Spain and Japan made it out with a narrow escape, Spain failed to draw Japan, if that happens, Germany would have move on to the next stage. Although, congratulations to the two teams that made it out, it's not an easy task as there's more surprises on the way.
There was nothing shocking about it. They had it coming. They used to be called German machines but now they are playing like a bunch of armatures.

They lost so many chances yesterday that I was screaming at them from my TV screen. I was so mad that I was happy to see them go. Maybe they didn't come to win. Maybe they came to protest. They better get back to the drawing board.

Totally thrilled that Japan won Spain. We might just see a Japan and Brazil or Argentina finals.

I was watching the game between Japan and Spain and I must say that I'm surprised at how Japan played the second half. They were  owhere to be fond in the first half. They couldn't do anything against Spain. And then when the second half started, it looked like another team entered the field. They were so much better than in the first half. I'm glad that they won because now Croatia will play against Japan in the next round. If Japan plays like they did in the second half, it will be a difficult game for Croatia. But I still think that Japan is much better opponent than Spain.

I think I didn't watch any game that Germany played in this World Cup. I guess I was just busy doing other stuff when they were playing. I don't know how they were playing but I'm pretty shocked that they are going home such early in the World Cup. I guess they have to change something in their game for the next tournament. Is it a coach or some senior players... I don't know as I didn't watch them play.

At first, I only watched the Japan vs Spain match in the first half. because at that time I was pretty sure that Japan would not be able to turn things around. because in the first half the pressure from Spain was really difficult to overcome. And Japan only occasionally escaped from Spanish pressure. so I decided to stop watching it and divert the channel to the Germany vs Costa rica game for the second half.
I was surprised that early in the second half Costa Rica turned things around to go 2-1 up but it looks like the Germans are really working hard to score more goals. so that they could again break into Costa Rica's goal until the score ended 4-2 and Germany won.

then I wanted to check the points earned in group E and after I opened the group E standings. I was very surprised because it turned out that the Japanese team had beaten Spain.
Of course I'm glad to know this. because Japan is a team that I support because Japan is a representative from Asia.

considering that the next opponent that will be faced by Japan is Croatia. then I think it will not be as difficult as against spain. but if we look at Croatia which made it to the final level at the 2018 World Cup. then of course Croatia cannot be underestimated. and Japan seems to have to work harder again to win the match later.

I feel like both Spain and Germany are far away from their brightest days. This is main reason for last night to happen. Japan was always good enough team in World Cups but in a way they were always behind qualified European teams or South American teams. But this time they could compete with both of them. Eventually I don't think Japan can achieve far high ranks in tournament but going to next round as leader in a group of Spain and Germany is great achievement.

The reason why we don't believe countries like Morocco and Japan to succeed in the next stage is because they don't have the experience. Assuming it was big names, we will tip that big names will win, but we could all be disappointed.

I am personally happy because Germany did not qualify. I loved this team. But more than their good performances at this World Cup, they focus on supporting LGBTQ. I don't understand why it has to be done in the football world cup. Moreover, it is a political thing in Europe and Germany, then why footballers should be supported on the field? If the German players had given their full attention to their performance, they probably would not have been eliminated in the first round. The goal of every player should be to perform well, it is not a platform to spread political ideology.
Japan played well against Spain yesterday. If such a performance can be done against Croatia, the match will undoubtedly be competitive. And I wouldn't be surprised if Japan wins against Croatia. Japan has this ability as they proved by defeating Germany and Spain.
The German players have forgotten their focus on Qatar not as a fighter for human rights but as a football team, to be honest I don't like what happened to them because I have always been their fan but they deserve to be eliminated and this is a lesson for all teams that they go to Qatar to play football.
Congratulations to Japan for being the second team from Asia to reach the round of 16 and maybe it will be the last Asian team because South Korea's chances are very small.

Germany's players should have been more professional and responsible on a big and important stage like the World Cup. Their main focus for the World Cup was a good performance. But instead of doing this, they have focused more on supporting LGBTQ people. I wouldn't mind if they did that in a friendly match. But in the last World Cup, they were eliminated from the group stage, in this World Cup they should have been aiming for at least the semi-finals. But they have been eliminated from the group stage in this World Cup as well.
What has supporting LGBTQ people have to do with this? This is out of football generally, Germany cannot do more than what they did judging by their present team, lapses are all over the place. Their lack of form started in 2018, yet people trusted them more than most teams to win the cup. Well, the trust has been shattered once again and Costa Rica proved to be a better team on the pitch.

Personally, I am pained with this since they are my top choice. Still, their four record winning of the tournament.

In my opinion, it is no longer shocking news to know Germany was eliminated in the group stage. Previously, they were defeated by Japan, then they only got a draw against Spain. So, their chance to qualify for the next round is very small, they only can qualify if Spain can defeat Japan. In reality, Spain is defeated by Japan today, so Germany should go home today. The biggest mistake done by Germany in this world cup tournament is they were not ready to play against Japan in the first match. As the result, they got defeated by Japan 2-1 although Germany very dominated in that match. It is actually the main cause of the failure of Germany.

Japan is one of the biggest surprises of this world cup, not only they beat both Germany and Spain, they were down against both teams and they made a comeback in a matter of minutes, they became the leader of their group, eliminated Germany and with the help of Costa Rica they were even close to eliminate Spain as well, and while they will not be the champions of the tournament I am sure that anyone that faces them will suffer a lot to get past them.
You never know Japan might become the champions. In both the matches with Germany & Spain they struggled in the first half but came back very hard in the second. Another observation is that the japanese defence is simple impenetrable in the second half not to forget the impressive coordination with the goal keeper.

Group E was surprising, the reason I said that is because Costa Rica that is the least among the four of them won Japan, maybe Japan took the country lightly after Spain won the team with 7 goals.

This world cup is bringing the mighty to its downfall. Only in the group stage, we have seen the unbelievable thing happening. The weak trashing the strong teams.

Congratulations to Japan for gently correcting Germany and Spain after they believed that only they were capable of playing good football.
Yes, congratulations to Japan, but also Spain qualitied, Germany is the superior that is now out of 2022 FIFA world cup, with Costa Rica. Japan really surprised us all by winning both Germany first and later won Spain.

Spain vs Japan today match Japan scored 2 goals and Spain scored only 1 goal.  But here Spain's 7 points have become points to go to the second round and Japan's 6 points.  But they made it to the second round.  A lot of hard work in both teams managed to change their fortunes.  But I think they will be able to gain experience like Spain going to the final here.
Yes, we saw a tough match between these two teams, Japan and Spain.  I thought Japan would score a few more goals in this match, but they didn't score any more.  Spain scored after 11 minutes of the game.  Spain played very well before halftime.  But after halftime, Japan played well. Japan won the match by 2 goals.

Spain could have performed better in game against Japan,  ae were expecting more better game from Spain but Japan no doubt have shown some great fighting spirit in this world cup and made their way to next round because of their hard work.
Japan has emerged as a strong ,competitive team in this world cup.

It is difficult to believe. I always thought that teams like Japan are there in the world cup to just make up the numbers (and to give some representation to the AFC). But this time they surprised everyone by defeating two of the strongest teams. Who would have imagined that teams such as Belgium, Germany and Denmark would fail to qualify to the next stage? This world cup may be the first signal we are getting to hint that the football power center is being moved from Europe and Latin America to Asia and Africa.
German and Spain's defeat by Japan led me to the conclusion that they have superior attitudes toward Japan at first and view them as weak competitors with whom to compete in the group stage, leading to their defeats.

There will be so many interesting match in the last 16. It makes me surprised that if japan can beat spain like what it was doing with german. German already known as house of football must be leaving from world cup. The fact that if 8 players from japan were still actively playing in the bundesliga which makes me think if that must be the main reason why japan is quite strong at this moment even it can beat spain. There will be so many matches that difficult to predict during last 16.

I always thought that England was the origin of soccer, not Germany. Although I guess I could be wrong about that.

In general, the Japanese team did well, played great, fought like lions until the end and snatched the victory.
But in general, after the first goal by Morata, the Spanish game was very strange, as if they didn't want to win. There was one moment in the match, when Spain was losing 2-1 and found out that Germany was also losing, then Spain started to "press" again, but when Germany evened the score, Spain team ardor strongly subsided.
Although Germany should have beaten Japan in the beginning and we would not have had such problems.

Tomiyasu also plays for Arsenal and Mitoma plays for Brighton & Hove Albion both in premier league respectively coupled with the other 8 players in  Bundesliga is strong enough and formidable to challenge any European country in any competition having well versed and experienced in European leagues is a big advantage, It's not an easy feat to lead a group that comprises of two heavy weight in football and champions Spain and Germany, in round 16 they will play Croatia Monday 5 December a match which I believe they will win considering their opponent who isn't strong enough I tipped Japan to far in the competition.
