I am glad that Germany are out. Maybe next time they should focus more on actually playing football than bring in stupid politics into the beautiful game. I also liked how resilient Japan have been. The campaign gearing up to the beginning of the world cup in Qatar may have not lived up to the hype, but we are seeing a lot of underdogs taking out the so-called superior teams

Agreed, Japan just played on the go. This could've never been expected by the Spanish players. Similar is the scenario with Germany. In that match Japan had the ball possession of 26% and they managed to win the match. In the match against Costa Rica it had 43% ball possession and the technique didn't work, losing 1-0.

This is really beyond the logic of Japan being able to beat Spain even though judging from the game statistics Spain controlled the game 83% but couldn't win this match for 90 minutes more only scored 1 goal

The 2022 world cup is giving us a lot of surprises, i used to have my favorite teams of: France, Brazil, Spain, Argentina, England and Portugal, and even if it is still very possible that one of these teams is going to win the world cup, i am not so sure again, i think anything can happen, we may see a country that nobody is giving any chance go very far and even get to the final. I love how Japan play, they are fearless and they may go far in this tournament. It’s never been more exciting than tonight with the two matches that made Germany officially out of World Cup, i remember last world cup 2018 in Russia also they got out after losing against South Korea Lol i think they have a problem with Asians.
The match between Japan against Spain we saw really how weak Spain defense was and not being able to maintain the score of first half and we saw the strength of Japan and their desire and need of winning the match showed us their potentials and could manage to defeat Spain as the first asian team to win against Spain in World Cup.
While the other match between Germany vs Costa Rica i didn’t really watch it but for some moments we thought Spain also will leave the Mondial if Costa Rica kept that score of 2-1, but unfortunately for them they couldn’t and Germany won 4-2 but for nothing since Japan also won.
We saw many surprises on this World Cup in the very begging as i always said many low expected teams will play with all their power to prove and show the world their potentials and make their country proud

Germany once again finished the World Cup with disappointment. They were shown among the championship candidates, but it turned out that they were not that good. Despite losing, Spain went ahead and maybe it was much better for them to finish 2nd in the group. In the round of 16, they were paired with Morocco instead of Croatia. Japan has done a great job, will they be able to beat Croatia and reach the quarterfinals? Asian teams are getting good results in this tournament.
Spain was playing well in the first half and they scored again with Morata and took the lead, but at the beginning of the second half Japan was much better. Even though Spain was under the control of the match, they couldn't score any more goals. This raises questions, is Spain's offensive power good enough? They will make it to the quarter-finals without difficulty, but what will happen next? After all, this is a short tournament and now that the group matches are over, the teams can't afford to make mistakes. I still consider Spain to be one of the major favourites.

This was probably a difference from Moriyasu's tactics. Against Costa Rica they were more open in their game and more daring to play the ball in the middle which was not very good and they had to lose but against bigger clubs like Spain and Germany they were much more careful and played enough devensivie so they don't lose. concede goals and this strategy is very good indeed carried out by them. 2 wins against big clubs clearly gave them more enthusiasm to face Croatia in the knockout phase later.

For quite a number of world cup years now, I can't really recall the last time that Germany did not qualify for group stage games in world cup.
For Japan vs Spain, I was not surprised to see Japan won Spain, that could be seen from their performances in those last matches they played. I sensed such win could happen, with the evidence of what the smaller teams are doing to the bigger teams in this tournament, left me with no doubts.

Why did Spain avoid Croatia? Does Croatia look so strong to Spain that Spain is trying to spare itself from Croatia. Because I saw that Spain also tried to win the game even though it failed for Spain today and I don't think that Spain deliberately lost just because they wanted to avoid meeting Croatia in the next round. Japan was really outstanding today despite statistically having less ball possession, but was able to take advantage of the opportunity not in vain.

Surprisingly, Japan succeeded in winning Group E after beating Spain 2-1, Japan lead first standing with 6 points and Spain as 2nd position have 4 points the same with Germany but ahead on goal difference. Costa Rica was actually able to keep up with Germany's game after winning 2-1 until the 70th minute and opening up the opportunity to qualify for the last 16, but conceded two goals at the end of the game making Costa Rica's dream of qualifying for the last 16 dashed.

They seem to have managed to level the score, but they are still last in the group...

Somehow Germany have made a comeback leveling the 2-2. We don't know what's gonna happen at the last minutes. Spain could've never thought Japan in such a way. Big teams of the tournament are struggling hard, and taking position as game changers. As stated the underdogs are making the win throughout the day starting from the Belgium vs Croatia, Canada vs Morocco, now these two matches.

Japan really brought almost all of its players in defense when they were already ahead with a fairly quick comeback because it was only 3 minutes away.
It was really a very good match but Germany had to be a victim in this case, they really played very well actually and indeed they wanted to score a lot of goals in the game against Costa Rica but it was in vain for them because it was the goal difference very different quite a lot but it will be a different story if Spain manages to draw in this match but it is very unfortunate indeed that they also failed as a superior team.

Japan really deserves the spotlight in the group phase this time because indeed 2 matches with big clubs they don't even flinch and I like their transition in defending and counter-attacking quickly when facing stronger opponents. Moriyasu really excelled in tactic in this match, on the other hand, the tireless Japanese players really deserve credit in this match.

What a day in the world cup and what a group we have in group E.
Here we've got Belgium crashing out of the world cup, Germany also have crashed out of the world cup, we've had the resignation of the Belgium coach and the tournament just keeps getting interesting.

It's just been turns and turns of events in the group E with the group haven't been restructured over 3 different times with a high rate of inter dependency on each side. We had turns where it was Spain and Germany leading as group favourites in the first half. Shortly into the second half, we had Costa Rica and Japan leading with both teams beating the giants of theee group by 2 goals to one. Next, we saw a German equalizer and win to put Spain in while waiting on Spain to equalise and possibly win Japan to get Geemany in but, Spain just couldn't and Germany is out.

Interesting group it was and a well deserved level up for Japan, haven't beaten both Germany and Spian.
