In my opinion, it is no longer shocking news to know Germany was eliminated in the group stage. Previously, they were defeated by Japan, then they only got a draw against Spain. So, their chance to qualify for the next round is very small, they only can qualify if Spain can defeat Japan. In reality, Spain is defeated by Japan today, so Germany should go home today. The biggest mistake done by Germany in this world cup tournament is they were not ready to play against Japan in the first match. As the result, they got defeated by Japan 2-1 although Germany very dominated in that match. It is actually the main cause of the failure of Germany.

Each team of Germany and Costa Rica shared the time on dominating the game. What a night! We saw all the details that make football beautiful tonight. It was unclear until the last moment whether Germany, Japan, Costa Rica or Spain would advance to the next round. We watched two matches with a very high threshold of excitement. I really wanted Costa Rica to surprise and go to the next round, but they failed.

How could they have been after loosing there first game to Japan, come to the second and get a draw against Spain and then in the third, the managed to secure a win. That's the same complexities that I had ..... I really felt numb and couldn't believe the whole damn thing... Espanyol lost before my eyes, to an international team like Japan. This is the same way Japan qualified as the first asian country to win against Columbia; it was a 2:1 win just like this one, in the round of 16.
Spain has got a good lineup team that's formable - atleast to my overview - that could have atleast, battled for a draw just to maintain the sporting preference that some fans would have over Japan....they had complete dominance in the game but it turned out, something so fucked up like that. They'll just have to join 'em in the round of 16'ss.

The 2022 world cup is giving us a lot of surprises, i used to have my favorite teams of: France, Brazil, Spain, Argentina, England and Portugal, and even if it is still very possible that one of these teams is going to win the world cup, i am not so sure again, i think anything can happen, we may see a country that nobody is giving any chance go very far and even get to the final. I love how Japan play, they are fearless and they may go far in this tournament. Before the world cup started many people were unhappy because of the host country, but i appreciate how Qatar have hosted the world cup so far, they have done very well and i thank them for not bending their laws and cultures because some European countries wanted them to do so.
If you remember this is the 2 time Japan has win, Japan win in a similar and dramatic way so we can consider Japan as the underdog

Despite the win of Germany over Costa Rica, they're still out of the World Cup. I'm sure that many are disappointed about this fact with Germany. And for Japan, it's also another surprising win from them. Who expected that Japan would be this good and beat Spain? Japan also has a good record at the World Cup, they often penetrate the knockout rounds and this year they did it again.
Big win does not always mean a win with many goals, even 1-0 can be called as a big win because the win give a team a ticket to the next round of a competition. In this case, Argentina won with 2-0 and it is understandable if ShowOff call it as a big win because the win make them qualify for the next round and they deserve the 1st place in the group stage.
If it is the reason, I think it more deserves to call an 'important win' or 'crucial win'.However, it is my opinion and it is from my own perspective.

Japan performance is outstanding, they surprise people by defeating 2 favorite teams in the group stage. Sure, everyone must expect Germany and Spain to qualify for the next round, but Japan makes Germany be eliminated very early. We must give a big appreciation to Japan, it is very rare to see a small team defeating 2 winning candidates in the world cup tournament.
