This is disappointing and shameful for Germany. Compared to Japan and Costa Rica, Germany was definitely the stronger team. But they lost their first match against Japan and fell behind. It is difficult to believe. I always thought that teams like Japan are there in the world cup to just make up the numbers (and to give some representation to the AFC). But this time they surprised everyone by defeating two of the strongest teams. Who would have imagined that teams such as Belgium, Germany and Denmark would fail to qualify to the next stage? This world cup may be the first signal we are getting to hint that the football power center is being moved from Europe and Latin America to Asia and Africa.
