The result of  game between Japan and Spain is a reminder that ball possession doesn't win a match until you scoring goals making good outcome of your chances converting them to goals is what matters more.
At the end of play who goes home with the three points is the winner of the match and not who's with the all the ball possession dominating the pitch. Congrats to Japan for a superb win.

Possession does matter if the team does not possess it for defense and constantly uses it for attack. Although if the attack is not coordinated properly then the chance of failure is also high. I would say Japan was incredible on the field and a bit lucky having 23% possession and still winning by a 4-0. This was the first time that Spain had lost so heavily in the world cup.
Spain should work on their defense because they are to face Switzerland in their next match. Let them prepare hard to avoid being dealt with many scoring goals by Switzerland since their defense is easy to penetrate
The game between Spain and Switzerland is going to be a very tough one particular for Spain with a weak defense playing against a Switzerland side that have not conceived a single goal  in their previous three games a goalless draw with Norway, Newzealand and a 2 :0 win against the Philippines side.

The stats sofar for Switzerland tells how much of a fine defense they have and Spain needs to very clinical and tactically prepared to get a win against them. Let see how things goes anyway.

Group E Netherlands vs Vietnam Meanwhile they started the game with attack and Netherlands women team lead by 4 goals. Compared to Vietnam, the Netherlands is quite a strong team. In the Group E points table, the Netherlands is on the first position with 7 points, while Vietnam is on the fourth position with 0 points. Vietnam conceded four goals in the first half at the beginning of the game, maybe more goals are possible in the end if the Dutch women continue to attack like this. And today's match, since Vietnam women are still not able to attack very well, it can be said for sure that the Netherlands will win today.

Conceding 7 goals without reply is a very painful defeat, indeed Vietnam is predicted to be the bottom team in the group, but by not being able to score a single goal in 3 matches proves that their quality is far below that of the participants in this World Cup. The Netherlands qualify very convincingly without losing and from three matches only when they drew with the USA they conceded, the rest they were able to keep their goal well.

The Portugal vs USA match has been a great battle between the two teams with neither team having managed to score a goal yet. However, in Group E, Portugal is third with 4 points and USA is second with 5 points. Points wise today's match is very important for the USA Women's team and it is very important for Portugal to win the match. But since both teams are still attacking with the goal of winning the match, they could not score any goals. Portugal is 1 point behind the USA so if the Portugal women's team can win today maybe good things will be waiting for them.
There would almost have been a surprise if a shot from a Portuguese player in the early minutes of injury time had not hit the pillar from the USA goal and it was the best chance Portugal had, USA could not score a single goal in this match which was quite surprising, maybe because they were only targeting a draw because one point was already enough to get them through from the group phase.

The two teams that qualified for the knockout stages from Group E were as predicted because indeed the Netherlands and the USA are not only the strong teams in the group but also the favorite teams in this World Cup apart from several other strong teams.

Still keeping an eye on the Lioness and how it will end in their final group stage match, I haven't seen the England team play out their best in this tournament but it doesn't matter if they go out to get a draw which I'm certain they would in this encounter against 3rd place China.
I expect this game to be a do or die affair for the China female national team but the Lioness won't give out the whole 3 point, if that happens it would be a disaster for the Lioness, while Denmark need a win to close the gap so if England loses they're going out so to me I see the Lioness playing out a draw today.

WOW! Japan women performed greatly in the game between them and Spain women. I have not seen women football team has done what Japan women did to Spain. According to the commentator, Japan has not loss any the matches they have played so far. That is they have not received any goal in their net. Football is a game luck as some said it but I also believe on their skills as well. When a team play well with their skills then goal is sure but if there is no luck them that day, even with their skills they can still loss. So luck is part the game. So what am I saying, Japan women players have the skills and also have the luck to win all their matches.the second Team I am also supporting is Nigerian women team, they are paying in the tournament. I will like to see Japan women and Nigerian women to play the final.
Football is definitely not a game of luck. Footballers train their whole lives for this and it is an insult to their career to call their winning against their opponents luck. No my friend this is not luck. It was a matter of may the best side win and the Japanese team was appeared to be a strong team, dominating and adapting well against different oppositions. Despite the Spainards having possessions of the ball for most part of the match, they failed to find the back of the Japanese next because their defense was strong. The Japanese team was able to have a clean sheet in this game as well as in their previous matches because they have displayed incredible accuracy and proficiency in their counter-attacks.

That may be random, luck is needed always as they say the ball is round and sometimes goes easily into goal even against the strongest team and defenses and sometime fails to do so to even go in goal against very weak defenses and this is called bad luck.Of course with discipline which the Japanese have a lot it can change the outcome of a game like they did in these games but over time it won't work well as like I said the ball is round and no matter how good of a defense you have it will pass through.I never thought Japanese team to be doing this good against stronger sides like Spain but they showed it once again that sometimes with the right mindset and discipline you get what you want.

A little prediction that I tried to do in these two matches, I saw the opportunity for the Dutch and United States national teams to come out as winners. If you see the quality of players, I am sure the Dutch will advance easily because the Vietnamese women's national team is not too strong and their quality is under the Netherlands. I think Portugal's chances are a little smaller to qualify for the next round because they are now in third place in the group standings.

Today's fixture looks like cliché to me, I'm taking the England, USA and Denmark all to win their respective fixtures @ over 2.50 Odds on local sportsbook,
while speaking of the groups standing itself. I think Portugal should be able slow the USA down a bit and you'd expect a rampant Netherlands to take it all out on Vietnam, so there is the chance of Netherlands finishing as group leaders, except if they themselves are not able to wreck havoc at Vietnam's side of the goal net.

Well The Netherlands are 1.01 to win and Vietnam are 70.0, its an impossible task
for Vietnam to beat a quality side like The Netherlands but they are not worth bettin on.

Portugal are 13.0 to win and 6.2 for a draw, eventhough USA are the number 1 team
I dont think they have shown their true class so far in the tournament, a win or draw
will carry them into the knock-outs. Portugal are only 1 point behind the USA and
Netherlands...is a shock outcome incoming?

The actual multi bet looks very easy in this case Cheesy
The significant difference between the Netherlands and Vietnam makes this very easy for them, especially considering that for Group E, Vietnam is just like a club for the granary of the other 3 clubs considering the 5 goals they have received in the last 2 matches.
Portugal too I'm not too sure they can withstand the Americans especially with Alex Morgan who is like a role model of women's soccer because it's hard to contain her achievements and there's no way she wants the same result as in the previous match against the Netherlands.

IMO for this group E, America and Netherlands just need to determine who will be the leader and runner up.

USA seems easy but I'm betting the draw in that game.

That's gutsy bet! I would say, I understand that USA have lacked the very high standards they usually produce at this stage and have become a victim of their own past high standard, and although a draw would be enough to USA qualify for the next round, but given the fine margin between a draw, and losing a game that'd see them get eliminated. I would back the USA not to take such risk, and get the win in a seemingly easy fashion.

The way Japan played against Spain was really impressive as they beat them 4-0 and based on this i would say that Japan will give a tough time to other teams in the tournament. By the way, where do you see the Nigeria and Japan match to be played ?
Japanese appearance is very impressive in this tournament and they look extraordinary, thus reminding me of the male national team who in the 2018 World Cup managed to reach the round of 16 if I was not wrong. Maybe he meant he wanted to see Nigeria and Japan meet in the semifinals or final?

Today, the first match will be between Vietnam and Netherlands while Portugal will take on the United States.  In the Netherlands lose their match and Portugal wins the match, Portugal could still qualify however, the Netherlands will fancy their chances to reach the round of 16 as Vietnam is a weak team.

Anyone here betting and making good profits or are you guys having trouble predicting too?

This world cup is having fewer goals than many expected. It's true that we've already had some routs, but in general it's been a very balanced cup.

In today's games, maybe we'll see more goals in Costa Rica vs Zambia, and maybe Ireland vs Nigeria too. Undecided

Costa Rica vs Zambia, both teams have nothing left to play for, as they both have been eliminated already. while Spain vs Japan will be more tricky match as both teams are fighting for who would top the table, the winner of the group will face Norway, while the loser get to face Switzerland in the round of 16.

Zambia with an early lead against Costa Rica, while it's pretty much an even affair here between Spain and Zambia in the first 10 minutes.

EDIT:

Japan have just taken the lead just after a few seconds of my post, with a very quality finishing.
The result of  game between Japan and Spain is a reminder that ball possession doesn't win a match until you scoring goals making good outcome of your chances converting them to goals is what matters more.

Saying I was impressed by Japan would be an understatement, they have been very clinical with the chances created, but to do that against a team like Spain is another whole of class.

They result wasn't by any chance a fluke, they were very organized, had a perfect game plan which in my opinion they executed perfectly.

Spain must have felt horrible but to be honest, they were no match for this Japanese side with huge level of confidence and a perfect team organization.

Thats wrong perception about football. It is the game that needs skill as well as stamina, one cannot easily frame it within a circle as it is a luck based game. There are matches in which teams get to be lucky to win with self goals from the opponent and so on. What we see with these matches isn't luck based. They've got skills and the same have rewarded them with the massive win. Three more weeks left and teams are doing their best to reach the top spot on their respective group. Japan Women vs Nigeria Women going to be really interesting and lets see who gonna reach the finals.

Japan had performed more than expected in this Women's World Cup, nobody could ever believe they are to win 3 of their match, scoring 11 goals without conceding a single goal in their 3 matches despite playing against Spain, Costa Rica, and Zambia.
Spain should work on their defense because they are to face Switzerland in their next match. Let them prepare hard to avoid being dealt with many scoring goals by Switzerland since their defense is easy to penetrate

Yeah they look in top form.  I've caught some parts of all of theor games and these aren't games they are winning by luck.  No one will want to have to run through them in the group stages.  Might be worth a stab at putting some money down on them to win the cup.   What's the current odds for them?

The first half didn't leave any strong impression. But, the second half showed improvement than the first half. Second half was more strategic and intense, despite it ended goalless. However, Nigeria's performance allowed them to make last-16 of the Women's World Cup. Now they must focus on making further improvements if they wish to go far in this tournament, especially in terms of their finishing skills. Otherwise, there is a risk of being eliminated in the round of 16.
Nigerian women have excelled in a group that they would have failed out without Hardwork. The worked hard for the qualification, that is why they got it. When they will play against the winners from Group D which will most likely be England, they will be very prepared to not get kicked out from the competition, since they have played some difficult games already. England has not been their normal self; they have not played at the level that thy are known for. If they do not try to improve before they play Nigeria, they may lose the game because of how tactical and physical the Nigerian team is.

Both what you said for Nigeria and England is correct, but one thing will be different after the group stage and that is the performance level of some teams who underperformed in the group stage. Nigeria has done very well in their defense as they also had the best defense during the group stage. But to knock out England, it takes a lot when you make it to the final rounds. Defense is the most important part as it can carry you during a game and make the English team nervous once Nigeria keeps a clean sheet for longer than one half of the game. But It will be so much more difficult to not concede a goal against England during the full 90 minutes and if it happens, they have to score themselves and this is where I am rather pessimistic for Nigeria.

Thats a remarkable score with only 23% possession, that proves you dont have to have the majority
of the possesion to win a match and Japan were super efficient with te possesion they had.
@elevates don't get wrong am not undermining possession in football it shows you're in control of the game on the pitch but what am saying is that the game between Japan and Spain with the ball possession percentage of 23% poorly not even average one may think that such possession can't earn you a win against n opponent like Spain not to talk of getting a score line of 4:0.
It's so shocking, and obvious that you can gain all the possession as you want but it doesn't mean you have won the match, and Japan just proved it, we shouldn't always push outcomes like this to luck all the time.
Nigeria and Ireland ended the game in a goalless draw. Ireland was just playing for the honor because they were already out of the competition after losing their two past games against Canada and Australia. But they improved today holding the super falcons to a barren draw. The game produced few goal attempts because the two teams were desperate to get a point. The Nigerian team has now qualified with Five points and didn't lose a single game. Before now the Nigeria technical team and players made it clear that they will not underrate the Irish team even if they lost two of their games. Congratulations to the Super Falcons.

Yea I was watching on and off, Ireland played well enough - better maybe than the previous games
but yea ball in the back of the net is what counts, I suppose a win today would have carried them
through then ahead of Nigeria?

Just looking at the table I see the Super Falcons in second place behind Australi and ahead of Canada
after they were beaten by Australia, very well done to them indeed.
It them mean the super falcons has qualified to the next stage followed with Australia. You know one won't have thought that Canada won't be making it out to the stage in their group but that's the interesting aspect of football we can't always predict right as the outcomes are only determined on the pitched.
