The President can stop corruption but it will be very difficult for him to do it alone.  To stop corruption, people from all sectors, big and small, need cooperation.  But if the administration is much stricter, anything is possible.  However, this is possible only in a few countries because almost all countries are corrupt.  It has now become a global disease.

Stoping corruption is beyond only president or government responsibilities. It's really involved everyone. Corruption begins from home. We citizens have a key role to play to stop corruption in our country. Is it government that is in charge of school exam where student have to pay certain money to lecturer to be passed? Imagine people giving bride to jump a long quequ, it is president here as well? Stop corruption is the work of both citizen and the government.
The fight against corruption would never end that is why those people that are always comfortable doing illegal things and going everywhere they like without penalty is a big blow. It is good the government bounce on such people so that this would be reduced.
Getting law enforcement in charge to do there own thing is a way to make sure that people actually get what deserve.
A lawless country is a country that has no strong force in place to help make security stay bold.

Corruption has eaten deep into our bones. Starting from the family, to the churches, Mosque and all government institutions.
I think the government should just create a Ministry of Corruption so that a lot of Nigerians can apply for a job there.
Starting from the families, most parents show love to only children who they can gain something from. If you have kids and your sister who is married to a rich husband  has kids, if both children visit their grand parents you noticed that your sister's children will be well treated than the other kids.
Comes to the churches am mosque, all the monies collected from the poor masses in the name offerings are used to open schools that the tithe and offering payers cannot attend. When someone use the name of God to extort money from you is the worst form of corruption.
All government institution in Nigeria are corrupt. Jujuciary,Robberslators, Executhieves are all corrupt.
Our higher institutions are not left out in this web of corruption. Our schools no longer teach character but teaches sorting as a legal means of passing exams. A girl who went to school as a virgin, but because she want to pass her courses by all means will now graduate as ogbongidi..
Where do we start from fighting this corruption? Is it from the government or from the family?

We are the government, those who are in those offices where ones  ordinary citizens like we all and having the corrupt mindset taking it up that level of holding governmental power. Power does not corrupt a person but only helps in showcasing what has been inbuilt, so everyone needs to put heads together to fight against this corruption.

Today i saw on the internet where Cameroonians are busy heaping insults on Nigerian president, due to their colossal 2 nill loss to the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the round of 16 on AFCON. At this point i shared tears when Cameroonians reminded us of how bad our economy has become. They make a chibe at us with Dollar exchange of 1 dollar = 1400 Naira.
Could this be a see finish? Or is football no longer a game of sportmanship?
Does it not bother us as a Nation nicked named "Giant of Africa" but yet smaller countries are taunting us due to the poor situation of things that is so visible to even the blind? Should we really blame those who are making fun of us because of our bad situations?
Should we attack them back verbally? When a respected man choose to misbehave in public, it is other peoples children that will openly insult him. A mad man or woman who walks naked does not have shame but the family members are the ones who bears the shame.
Thats what our politicians are. They dont have shame anymore, so whatever abuses that is rained on them or the country doesnt bother them. But we the ordinary citizens are the ones feeling the shame on their behalf.
I wish God can put back the spirit of shame on our leaders so that they can feel the shame of what people doing to us because we manage to win only 2 nill last night.

The president have the power to reduce corruption in a country, it might not be really easy to do like in a country where every system and sector is corrupt . The president can make it work by fighting corruption if he can only lead by example, but if the president is corrupt on his own I don't think it will be possible for him to stop corruption.  When the federal government is corrupt every system and and sectors will also learn how to be corrupt just like the people at the top of the government.

Corruption can be removed from the country by making anti-corruption laws and strictly following them.  If one person is honest, he can not change the whole country. To fight corruption, the education of the masses is important. In a country where every department is corrupt and compromised, it is very difficult to eradicate corruption by just making laws. Authorities should set an example by punishing the corrupt before the public. Or the country is in dire need of the new system.

Im not sure what country this is but everything has to be in sync. If the president is a good man and really wishes to make an impact, the people under him can still hinder a lot of things through corruption. For instance, for countries that are under development, if the president decides to build a new hospital and gives the money to whoever is supposed to be in charge, the corruption from their end may end up resulting in a substandard hospital or an unfinished project. So everyone (at least the ones at the top) needs to all have similar goals and vision. Just my thoughts.

Yes it's not as easy as it looks or how people pretend it to be, Corruption is everywhere be it democracy or dictatorship/military rule because corruption is not something limited to certain group or party it's everywhere and it's in our mindset. I have a slightly different take on corruption and how it can be eradicated. It can start with us educating our kids and nourishing them with good ethics and moral value by teaching them how to stay away from corruption and shouldn't put the greed in their mindset because corruption start with greed and if we religiously follow this then may be after a generation we may see it gradually reducing and this has to be practiced by everyone which is not possible as the corrupt people will never teach these things to their kids. Or everything should be made public like the cost of tenders, council works and the amount they have in coffer and the amount spent on public work should be published over blockchain so that everyone can have visibility as this will bring accountability to every single penny as corruption is done for money which cannot be accounted.

Corruption trends are now evident in many countries around the world. Citizens of our country are now victims of corruption in all spheres of public affairs of our country. Our country has not yet made any significant announcements or initiatives to combat corruption. But sometimes, if the initiative is taken, it is stopped automatically after a few days or a few months, so there is no end to corruption.

A small example of how we are exposed to corruption in our society in our daily life is the trend of bribery in government jobs. Even if the people are vocal, corruption can never be eradicated from that country or society if the government does not take initiative to fight corruption.

Corruption is like a pandemic that has eaten deep in the mindset of people because you can't fight corruption without looking at how people reason or behaves towards corruption and one of the things that's increasing corruption is looking back at other people who have been involved in corrupt practices in the past and then you also want to do same thing they did with the believe that if you're to be probed then that means your predecessors also needs to be probed as well.

Corruption should not only be focused on the government but to every individual in the society because we all are the government as one way or the other you might be opportuned to hold a public office in the future so a situation whereby you're have been involved in corrupt practices in the past then there is every tendency that you are going to continue when you hold a public office.

In summary, the rate of corruption now in our society is very very bad like almost every area of human, be it in their daily lives, in government offices, and in different perspectives of the life of human which is gonna be very dangerous in the future because the younger one now will grow up with that same corrupt mindset tomorrow which will be very bad for the society at large.

How easy for a new president who is been elected to fight corruption in a nation where all the systems of government is been corrupted,  like in the force,  and judiciary,  even the politicians.
It will be difficult for such president to succeed in eliminating corruption in the country because, those corrupted leaders that sponsored his or her election with money or other things will like to recover their money back by telling the new elected president to allow corruption so that they can get their money back.

Quote
Do you think a genuine president can easily end corruption of this level ?
Yes, if the president is genuinely elected by those that has majority that want corruption to be eliminated from the country, I guess it will be easy for such president to delete the corruption that is affecting the country because, those corrupted people will no longer have strong hand to fight the majority in the land.

It is about getting it under control as much as possible to it does not get as bad as in countries like mine. People talk about the European Union as if was the perfect and ideal place to live and had zero corruption, when in reality, there has been serious cases of high level corruption happening in the EU.
I specifically recall the case of a politician who has alledgely bribed by Qatar, so she talked as possively as possible about that country in the European parliament, and did favors in order for the Qatar football world cup to take place without problems coming from the European Union, regarding the human rights problems and the work conditions of those who built the stadiums.

Still, the European Union took a step ahead and arrested that politician, that is the important part within the fight against corruption: to hold those ones guilty into account. So others won't dare to try to do the same in the future.

Corruption is constantly increasing in every country in the world. I don't know when this corruption will decrease. In the country where I live, every single citizen of our country, including us, is a constant victim of corruption. There are also countries where bribery is required to get a simple job which is part of corruption. So we all should speak out against corruption otherwise the whole world will be full of corruption one day.

The reason why corruption can't be easily eradicated in highly corrupt countries is that corrupt exist in almost all sectors of the country. Starting from the young ones in school to the old ones. Imagine when student bride teachers to pass examinations. Patience briding doctors and nurses before they can perform their duties deligently.
I do believe that humans have a percentage of unbuilt greed I them that leads corruption, the examples you gave above are all as a result of greed driving individuals. If not greed there is no way a doctor will have to take bribe before attending to a patience. Like you said even in the smallest sectors we do experience corruption but for corruption to be wiped out totally we have to start with our selfs and change our mentality gradually every other sectors will have to option than surrender to the right things.

I think it's not easy to get rid of corruption in the government but I think our previous president did it, he didn't get rid of everything but he reduced corruption and I think more than 50% was stopped. Right now I don't know if our president is still doing the same thing, removing corruption from the government or if he is one too, I don't know. I hope not, because he was not the one I voted for so I have a doubt.

I don't see a new president having that ability to fight corruption that easily. If he must then he needs to start as an example of transparent and accountable leader then slowly surround himself with people of like minds not necessarily political leaders then from there he can slowly make implementations that will put the country in check of bad leadership and corrupt practices.

But fighting it completely is not possible the highest that can be achieved is reduced corruption
It would be very difficult to fight corruption when all coners of the government are corrupt. This would be a difficult move for any government or president that has the mindset to make things happen. We need to understand the arms of government and see for ourselves because it would be difficult for corruption to leave the cycle of the senators and governors that hold the country. We just have to live by it because corruption can never ends.

Yes, this is exactly what you are saying, it is right, we should fight against corruption because it is the benefit of our own country, if we will support the corruption as it is and not its graph landing, then our own country. There is a lot of damage, that is, what we need is that we should implement a law for this, that in any country, in any society, if this corruption occurs, then this punishment will be given, then people will be afraid of the punishment and They will act on it and this program will benefit the entire country, that is, it is not a benefit to a person, it is also a benefit to a society, but it will become a benefit and security for an entire country. Besides, we all should take a necessary action against it

Everyone should try together with the President to rid the country of corruption. Because it is almost impossible for one person to make the country free from corruption. The state can enact various laws and regulations to eradicate corruption, but if the common people, businessmen and government officials cannot eradicate corruption themselves, then the country can never be eradicated by anyone. Basically, the efforts of all the people of the country should be equal to make the country free from corruption.
Corruption is something thay every nation is fighting against because of the reaction of the people.
Even the most advanced country is facing corruption within it premises. There is no way corruption can stop that is why we need to try as much as possible for us to stay safe and releave ourselves from something that is going to make us commit crime.
Corruption will continue if a country has no plan to work on security.
