This is why we need to elect or a point people with proven integrity into power. Although this is not easy in economies that don't have credible electoral systems. Where you will see dishonest  people being elected into power.

Political aspirants cannot be trusted until they emerge into office before we can truly know their colour, we know people that once they are planning to embark on a political journey, they try to appear being an honest person and shows the highest level of integrity just because they are having target to meet on their personal agenda, we cannot fully trust people like that especially when they are having intentions for a political ambition, just because they have money but lack the qualifications to emerge into office, people voted them in because of their money and not integrity, why wouldn't they be corrupted.

As I said earlier, in your own little way, whether in your business, workplace or in an associations, let us try to be incorruptible. It start with you.

Perfect solution, the change begins with everyone of us now.

Corruption is something no one can fight completely. but we can curtain it by learning about the danger of it to the community and society. corruption should be discouraged among the youths and children. these the future of the society, if we want to keep a free corrupt society,  But the real fear is that the youths are in ivolved in all kinds of corrupt practices. it will be hard to fight corruption in this generation, butwe must keep speaking against it.

I believe the best way to discourage anyone from partaking in corrupt activities would be to implement harsher punishment upon those caught commiting those crimes and then, make their trials and sentences to be widely known nationwide, so anyone would know what would happen to them if they get involved as well.

Though, fighting corruption in such drastic way would require a political administration with much transparency so their actions on combating corrupt officials or private entities would not be pointed out as an act of double standard. Someone once said that if one is willing to fight corruption, then that means to be willing to imprison one's own family and friends.

I believe every country has a very strict, harsh and appropriate punishment for corrupt practices but then it is also same corruption that make offenders to be let free at the end of the day. But if such laws and their punishment will be followed in letters then the spate of corruption will disappear.

Like in Nigeria for instance if you are a president or governor, there is immunity that covers some corrupt practices against you and you will never be tried. To me that is fragrant abuse of power because such officer will rely on such immunity to perpetrate some heinous crimes against humanity after all no court will try him in office. So it takes a political will to stop corruption by adequately punishing offenders without fear, favour or affinity.

How easy for a new president who is been elected to fight corruption in a nation where all the systems of government is been corrupted,  like in the force,  and judiciary,  even the politicians.

Having  the mind to stop corruption is not easy in a nation that corruption  is seen as nothing, making an attempt to do so some politicians will do everything to frustrate the agenda. Do you think a genuine president can easily end corruption of this level ?
Fighting corruption in any country can be redeemed if a credible president said is what he wants to do, why corruption continue to spine in a country that is corrupted is because of godfather's, if a president who is corrupt succeeded planting a successor that means the country is still unbalance, the incoming person will like to act on the capacity of the previous leader.

One person alone cannot fight corruption, especially in a system that has been corrupt for decades. Corruption is a canker worm that has eaten deep into almost every household. Out of 100%, only a tiny percentage of the people can boldly say they do not  engage in corrupt practices. We in one way or the other encourage corruption yet still blame the government for being corrupt.  We all have at some points encouraged tribalism,  nepotism,  favoritism , godfatherism etc. We only tag it bad when it does not favour us.
The president alone cannot stop thousands of people from promoting corruption. Only the few that are caught face the consequences while the majority not caught blame the culprits  for not being careful.

Fight against corruption is a collective effort.  If the president is good and the masses are corrupt,  it will be difficult for one man to achieve a corrupt free society. While blaming the government,  we too as citizens need to refrain from all forms of corrupt so the fight will not be in vain.

It is very difficult to actually flush out corruption in that sector because it involves so many people with different personalities. Because older generations have not set a good example for the younger generations, the latter have chosen to participate in corruption despite its negative effects. Since the older once have already failed them. And if you go around the government building, all you see are elderly people, and the kids' sole concern right now is fraud, not anything else. The leaders aren't even willing to give the youths another chance to lead.

The only way corruption like this can  be defeated by a president who is different from other leaders who have served in the past, is if the citizens of that country can fully support and stand by their president. If other bad politicians sees that majority  of the citizens  are against corruption,  I think it will be tough for them to go against the president.
 Like in South Africa,  it was easy for Nelson Mandela  to fight for good governance because  he was fully supported by other citizens  of South Africa .

That was then, the citizens of then differs from nowadays citizens. And the government differs again. Meaning, the kind of people on government sit now are heartless and doesn't have human sympathy.
Everyone on government sit are swallowed by corruption and they can do anything possible just to maintain that because of there selfish interest from president down to the lower positions. The citizens are on their own and can't even protest against them, small protest now you will see forces (police, army and other para military) dispatched to disrupt the peaceful protest.

There several institutions for fighting corruption, these is institutions should be strengthened by organizing frequent retreat in other to give them a standard orientation on what is applicable in their job. These institutions are as follow.

1. Judiciary
2. Legislature
3. The force in general both paramilitary
4. The electoral body

The Judiciary which is seen as the hope of the common man should be given total autonomy to act on their own without the influence of the executive or anybody to overturn the rule of law, in so doing every individual irrespective of how influential the person is, will be made to face the law depending on the stipulated punishment for such offense, any matter brought in the honourable court will be given adequate verdicts with favouritism for any side.

The legislature which is regarded as the law making body of any country should propose strict laws that prohibit vote buying, public funds embezzlement and so on and this laws should come with strict sanctions.

The force and paramilitary which serves as security and law enforce agency should be scrutinized frequently to erased the bad egg in the system in other to get effective enforcement of law without biased or compromised mindset, this institution has power in some cases to report whosoever that's is found wanting be it executive to the parliament for questioning which might possibly lead to impeachment if findings are clear that the person involved is the perpetrator of the crime being reported for also defending the country unity, the internal and external security should be of utmost important to this institution but this is dependent on the good information management and equipment available.

The electoral body, this body conducts and announce the winner of an election in any country, to me this body should be independent both in their budget for financing of the institution or the election itself and this should be done without any form of interference from the executive in other to avoid possible padding of the budget, this body has to work with the law enforcement agency to secretly investigate an individual which is interested in any position and if been found corrupt in any way should be disqualified and prosecuted this will yield a good result by eradicating vote buying and giving way for good governance by allowing the electorate to elect their preferred candidates by buying him or her for effective representation without any form of fair or intimidation.

With all this be in good place both the president a country and other lower elective position like governor and parliamentarians will be careful in carrying out their duty as their position is required by law withoout any tendency to maltreatment if the citizen by depriving them their right to social amenities, like good road, schools, hospital, market and steady power supply.

With all these mentioned above I think we can enjoy a less corrupt society.

The fight against corrupt should be continued and should not be stopped because there are people that have the blood in them to corrupt other people without thinking twice. We need to make sure that we fight for our right and do the right thing and the right time so that will not affect some persons who may need our help to do some certain things.
Well, the fight shouldn't really be stopped but you know that this isn't just an easy battle for those who are standing in the front and showing themselves and their families that they're eager to eliminate corruption. But in countries where corruption is rampant, these whistleblowers and front liners are the ones that are having the collateral damage. The accused are going back against them and taking the revenge to the next level and that's to the point that they'll never like and they'll be silenced afterwards.

The fight against corruption works by:
1. Obeying the Ten Commandments of the Bible;
2. Following the spirit of the 10 rather than only the laws;
3. Love people as you love yourself;
4. Do to others as you would have them do to you;
5. And see that those who are blatantly disobedient to the 10 are prosecuted for their crimes... made to repay those they harmed.

Start with yourself, and then the corrupt politicians who are liars.

Cool
I agree with all of that but everything changes when an official sits on his position and chair and sees something underneath his table.  Roll Eyes

I do not disagree with you, but we also need to keep in mind there are countries where Christianity or Judaism is not the dominant or most widespread religion, so these principles (which are based in the old testament) could not be applied in an easy way because they would not be in the same cultural realm of the nation.

For example, let us say that you are in charge of reducing the corruption in some Asian poor country, would not be hard to apply a religious approach there from the ground up if the population religion is completely different?

The president will not be able to change his country with corruption into a clean country, because basically the law in that country makes a country full of corrupt officials, light punishment for each corruptor will never deter dirty officials from stopping, also the electoral system makes it very possible for politicians to continue to be corrupt, because politicians have to give a lot of money to their political parties so that they can be carried out in presidential and parliamentary elections and these politicians will try to take what he has spent with corruption after taking office.
The president must be supported by the legal system and law enforcers to give harsh punishments to corruptors so that it will have a deterrent effect, and in my country, an asset confiscation law will soon be passed for every public official who is proven to have committed corruption or when his assets multiply unreasonably, and hopefully this law will reduce the number of corruptors or at least when proven they will not stay rich and live in luxury.

The change we need today in the society in respect to corruption begins with us, we don't expect a corruption free society when we we encourage it in one way or the other but must time when you fight corruption with the apparatus you gat with all the strength in you it fights back with the apparatus and this always happens in government using law enforcement agencies that turn to be bad eggs.

Be the change that you need. I believe that this should be the watch word for any one that wants to see a corrupt free society. It is easier to stay in the background and point fingers at people who are in power. It is not easy to be in a position of power where one can easily steal money and cover their tracks.

This is why we need to elect or a point people with proven integrity into power. Although this is not easy in economies that don't have credible electoral systems. Where you will see dishonest  people being elected into power.

No, a president, even if they are genuine in their intentions, cannot easily fight corruption that has seeped into every crevice of government and society that it was institutionalized and normalized. To really stop corruption, the system itself needs to be overhauled - either by removing everything that is touched by corruption or by revolution.

Even if the system is overhauled, there would always be opportunists who would take advantage of the temporary power vacuum to destroy any semblance of honest governance. Why? Because nothing could be gained from a corrupt-free government. History has shown us again and again, even on smaller scales, that there would always be people who thrive in chaos and corruption because there is money to be made from it and they would fight progress itself if it means getting more money.

I suggest that a lot of politicians tend to ignore the fact that charity begins at home, and the bedrock corruption begins with the leader and his lieutenants. Any leader who wants to run a successful government and fight corruption to its barest minimum must begin with himself, making sure that he has integrity and character of a good leader. He must also operate differently from the previous government thereby ensuring that he selects a purposeful cabinet with integrity too. His cabinet members in this case are his lieutenants.

A leader must also be upright and operates an open door policy. His policies must resonate with the needs of the followers and he must employ dynamic strategies to achieving his plans for his followers. That's who a president, a governor or a council Chairman should be. Especially in a democratic setting.

With money being the major causes of corruption, I'm still researching how, Bitcoin can be used by a government, to reduce corruption or corrupt practices.

It is impossible to end corruption, everyone in power resorts to greed and it will be impossible to stop it. There is an expression "it's not the size of the bribe that pisses you off, but the inability to participate in it."

Why so pessimistic, man?
Corruption can be fought and can be reduced, you may be right about Corruption being impossible to eliminate completely, but there are societies around the planet which have showed us good examples to make your cities and governments more transparent.

So perhaps it is more difficult in some countries than other but it does not mean it is a lost battle. I would personally be in favor of death penalty to high profile cases of corruption which involved high quantities of money, if it helps to clean society of such terrible problem. I know about the consequences of corruption, because I live in a country with many corrupt people in positions of power.

I call that playing because there is no way you could remove corruption when you yourself is corrupt.
Corruption is everywhere but it has a level when we know that this is too bad for a quick change to happen.
Things are happening so fast and we need to make sure everything is safe for everyone.
