His peak performance was at Real Madrid where he formed a strong bond with Ronaldo and Benzema. Sometimes I think he was not appreciated enough. Only very few players can match his technical brilliance. Few can even see the game in the way he does, let alone do the things he does with the ball at his feet.

I definitely agree, that Özil at his prime was a joy to watch because he was one of those very few players that seemingly enjoyed giving assists more than scoring the goals himself. That is also the reason why he was so popular among his teammates. I still remember, that Cristiano Ronaldo was very happy, when Mesut Özil left Real Madrid back then and of course there was a reason for that. Özil was the one who gave the most assists to CR7.
