Neymar left Al Hilal and returned to his old club in which he faced huge financial losses. He would have received a lot of money at Al Hilal, a fraction of which he would not have received at that club in Brazil, but he still wants to play football so he accepts these losses.
When Neymar first broke into the national team, everyone thought he would be one of the best players in Brazil's history and that he would achieve a lot for the country, but he was unable to do much for himself or the country despite creating so much potential due to constant injuries. With the 2026 World Cup ahead and Neymar's desire to make one last attempt at the 2026 World Cup, he chose a new club at the end of his career to remain injury-free.
I hope that he can stay injury free for at least this one season and perform his best in the 2026 World Cup to lead the team to a good position.
He made so much money, I think it doesn't matter for him anymore. If you add up all the money he made from his time in Barcelona where he got allegedly a huge signing bonus, then the huge deal he had with PSG where he made close to €60 million per year and then the roughly ¢100 million he made per year when he was playing for Al Hilal. He actually only played seven games for them as far as I know, which is insane if you break the salary down in an average per game

It is said that at Santos he will make around 1.5 million per year, so I think he is going there to only have some fun in the final phase of his career and maybe he likes to be in his home country. It's probably not quite the European lifestyle, but since he didn't have it anyway when he played for Al Hilal, maybe this move it what was on his agenda for a while.
When he had his breakthrough at Barcelona, it is hard to believe that he decided to go from there to PSG, then Al Hilal and then Santos. To me it sounds like a wasted career of a super talent.
