De Paul going to Atletico for only 35 euros! It is a coup and a terrifying gift for Simeone, who loves this type of fighting player.
I just saw De Paul, how he make Argentina to be champions for this year. I don't know why The other clubs like Manchester City, PSG and real Madrid didn't move fast to get his service. I congratulate Atletico they going to get big profit, who knows until next year the price could be 3x.

I have to admit here I have never heard about this guy,,, and that is the problem with a lot of us I guess to not really know the talents from South America (or even all of Americas) to really understand them until they get scouted and seen by Europe. Well done to Atletico for strengthening:)

Life, Love and Laughter...
At the end of the summer transfer window, I’ll be listing the top 30 transfers or so by amount and let’s see who pops and who flops at the end of the 2021/22 season across all leagues in Europe.  Grin

Let’s see which player’s transfer market value goes up and which ones go down.  Should be fun.  Kinda like watching the crypto market...  Maybe we could even do some side bets or some sort of prediction game out of it.

I am wondering, is it worth panic sell two-three solid players just to keep Mesi for two seasons more. As I say, he is old yes, he is a great player one of the best ever but it only brings marketing, he will definitely be gone soon. Some younger potentials won’t get a chance because of him and his guaranteed place on the team.
is he really worth more than Griezmann + Pjanic + Coutinho...

I think Messi means a lot to Barcelona, I'm not saying to the managers, but to the team as a whole (coach and players mainly).
His departure after so long could cause a shock and disruption to the team, both technically and emotionally in the players.
As much as he is "old", he is still essential for the team and I believe that Barcelona will be able to readjust the team with other players in order to make a lesser impact.

Just my opinion.

Maybe Messi is 34 years old. But he is still in better form than any other young player. It is not possible for Barcelona to replace him with any other player. He is fully involved with Barcelona at the moment. The Barcelona players have adapted to him. If a new striker is added to the team, he will not be able to perform like Messi. Any way Barcelona must keep Messi in the team.

I think Barcelona doesn't have the money to sign him anyway. The league asked them for assurances, they will have to sell some players and also reduce their wage bill significantly in order to make room for Messi's salary.

Him leaving on a holiday might actually help them, at least there will be less pressure on them to sign the deal. News are that they are working on it but they need some time to sell fringe players in Covid-hit market.

As we know that, his contract with Barcelona ended some days ago, and he's now a free agent. What happened next?
Is there a possibility of him staying at Barca? Or after his contract expired, there's no going back like what happened to Ramos?
Only Lionel Messi can accurately answer questions regarding his future, but in my opinion, the reason why there have not been so much talks about Lionel and where he's moving to is as a result of the just concluded Copa America tournament, I think Messi put every other thing aside to concentrate on the Copa America, he needed no distractions based on contract talks and other whatnots, and now that the tournament is over and he has actually won the trophy he has been craving for, he can now focus on club football and make a decision to either leave Barcelona or sign a contract extension, tbh, I feel Messi will remain in Barcelona.

but the american cup ended and messi is going to take a 3-week vacation with his family and he didn't talk about his future in barcelona, it's very strange all this. Is as if he had some disagreement about staying in barcelona, because i believe that if not had any problem and if messi remained in barcelona then both messi and barcelona would have already come to the press to say that messi will remain in barcelona. All this suspense is not good, in an interview I read yesterday the president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta said that he has made great progress in the negotiations for the messi contract... in the coming weeks we will know the future of messi

De Paul looks like a great deal for both sides. Atletico can use a player like him and he will fit well into their midfield and Udinese can use this money to strengthen the team in multiple positions - they need a bit of depth throughout their squad.
Indeed, it should be a great deal for ATM.
BTW Barcelona apparently took the lesson well of Suarez and won't let Griezmann join his ex team nor any La Liga team!

This probably means Atletico will listen to offers for Saul, there were rumors he's looking to move even before the De Paul deal. I expected a lot more from Saul a few years ago, not surprised they will part ways.
If there is a good deal otherwise his contract will end in 2026.

Transfer rumours:

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel wants club chiefs to make an "immediate" move to sign Norway striker Erling Braut Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, but the German club are planning to still have him at the Westfalenstadion next season as they are demanding 175m euros (£150m) for the 20-year-old this summer.

Today a big german newspaper reported that Roman Abramovich personally approved the transfer fee of €175 million demanded by borussia dortmund for the transfer of Erling Haaland. If this is true than Dortmund would get the money that they have asked for and they basically have to let Haaland move on to chelsea if they stick to their word. I personally think that the executives of Dortmund did not expect any club to really pay 175M€ for Haaland and therefore asked for that huge amount of money so he plays for another year in Dortmund. The question is, if Haaland really wants to go to Chelsea. I mean they won the CL last season but other clubs like Real Madrid or Barcelona still have a bigger name.

There isnt that many top clubs out there that could offer him a huge paycheck . Even if he is now a free agent, it doesnt mean that clubs will be able to offer him like lower than 50% of any amount that he received in Barcelona. Besides that, PSG seems to be interested with Messi but  Messi seems reluctant to move to another league.
The probable factor for the huge wages could be due to the taxation laws in Spain. I don't know much about taxation in other countries of Europe, but I read somewhere that In Spain, the salary taxes can go as high as 50% which can have an impact on the final wage of the player, so I guess that's where the problem to renew the contract at a lower salary comes in.

But that aside, I think Pep would also love to work with Messi again and Manchester City just let Aguero go, so I think they can afford him. PSG and Manchester City. Those are the two clubs I can also think of right now that can make the move.
I can't see PSG sign with him, I think that they already maxed out their wage cap they already have players like Neymar and Mbappe that earn large amounts weekly and for previous season the total wages for PSG were €236M and with year additions like Ramos Donnarumma Wijnaldum and Hakimi that number would have risen higher compared to Man City last year bill players wages that's close to €175M so It's considered very high wages when you look at Man City who definitely have better resources of income.
So it will be either Barcelona somehow will be able to offer him a contract and he is willing to continue his journey with them to the end no matter how lesser then he used to take or just look at Man City if he still wants to get the best paycheck.

I didn’t see De Paul's gameplay before the Copa America match. His performance in the final match caught everyone's eye. Great performance. I am happy that Atletico Madrid has signed him. They will be more stronger if they can make proper use of De Paul.
Miss watching Copa America final and do not know how quality from De Paul, I think have bigger value pay by Atletico Madrid to get De Paul sign's from Udinese. I think will be great tandem for Koke as midfielder, I think good position for him and will be top performance by playing for Atletico how ever he has great chance to play on champion league this season than Udinese without participant on champion or erope league.

Only a few clubs can afford Messi or Ronaldo also. Even if a big salary is not an issue, they are too old and they are not players you can count on for more than two years.
Indeed. Since they have a big salary, only a few clubs are interested to sign them. But it was in the past, I don't really know if there are still some clubs really interested to sign them right now. There are already top young players right now, Mbappe and Haaland are the perfect examples. Right now, I assume, top football clubs are more interested in Mbappe and Haaland than Messi or Ronaldo.

Sometimes as a backup option is an older player, but I don't believe Messi will agree to sit on the bench.
Sure, Messi or even Ronaldo isn't a typical player who wants to sit on the bench if they are not injured.
Considering them for a substitution player is impossible.

They can afford him but that doesnt mean they need him on the club. Manchester City needs to fill the pure striker slot left by Aguero so its either Haaland or Harry kane. Both requires a big amount so they are not going to try to sign Messi and aside from that Premier League is not the at the same level as Ligue 1 so they cant just sign Messi and hopes Messi will carry the team
Only a few clubs can afford Messi or Ronaldo also. Even if a big salary is not an issue, they are too old and they are not players you can count on for more than two years.
Top teams from PL, buy young players who have potential and they have several years of good football ahead of them. Sometimes as a backup option is an older player, but I don't believe Messi will agree to sit on the bench.
Of course, neither Ronaldo nor Messi in their current state will agree to sit on the bench, because they still feel the strength and desire to continue playing at a high level. If you remember, for example, at the time of the leadership of Sorry Juventus as a head coach, Ronaldo generally caused a scandal at the club when Sarri replaced him during the match. I think that there are other clubs in the Premier League besides Paris Saint-Germain who would agree to the transfer of Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, despite their age. Of course, any top club wants to have strong young players for the future, but in such clubs the result is needed immediately, so very often young promising players are sent on loan to other clubs so that they gain experience and skill there.
