Transfer rumours:
Chelsea have restarted talks with Willian, they want a new contract.
Everton are keen to re-sign John Stones.
Tottenham have rejected a move by Juventus for France midfielder Tanguy Ndombele
Arsenal are favourites to sign Thomas Partey
Manchester United s willing to wait and be patient with Jadon Sancho and will not pay more than £50m.

I don't think Chelsea will give out Williams to any club at the moment, he is the backbone of the club, William style of play brings more success to the club because he was already good at former club in Ukrainian side Sharkter Donersk. William would not disclose or rather reject any new contract.

Ronaldo was sold to Juventus for something like 100 mil when he was 33, but it was before coronavirus and Ronaldo is physically in much better shape than Messi - he always was.
For players like Cristiano, Messi, 100 million isn't a big deal provided that how much fan they have. Juventus had sold 5,20000 tshirts within 24 hours of release with name of Cristiano, worth of $60 million although Juventus will be receiving 10-15% of the revenue- https://www.cnbc.com/2018/07/18/juventus-sold-over-60-million-of-ronaldo-jerseys-in-just-one-day.html
Nevertheless, Messi is still fit for another couple of season.

hmph..
But I can't agree that no club would pay him big wages. Cristiano too joined Juventus at the age of 33; Messi is still having good performance. So, if he wants, he can join some other club too with a big pay certainly.

Yeah, currently this just a rumor, and lot of media published about this atm.

I agree with you, 33yo sometimes not too old for players, we can remember players who still have a skill and power to play even he was more than 33yo. So, messi still have a skill and can bring a motivation to the players in the clubs.

Inter Milan can be calm because the purchase offer of Alexis Sanchez has been approved by Manchester United.
Great piece of business if it happens.

For who? I don't remember the last time Alexis played a good game, let alone an excellent game and I am sure he has one hell of a lucrative contract. He is also not that young anymore. I am thinking Man UTD is getting the better end of this deal.

Sanchez have been playing good in Inter Milan actually. He is doing his job quite well along with Lukaku. I mean feeding crucial passes, making plays but Serie A is a different level. I also think Man Utd is getting a good deal and a good chance to off load Sanchez who had a bad time in PL playing for both Utd and Arsenal.

With these kind of transfers it's almost all about the potential marketing effect. When Ronaldo joined Juve the popularity of the Italians was boosted all over the world  So I am pretty sure their huge investment in him was well worth it for Juventus despite the fact that he was alread 33 years old back then. Here is a great read if you are interested in this topic.

Messi does have a similar fanbase around the globe. He and Ronaldo shaped a generation of footballers like no others. So even though he's already 33 years old, he could still be a valuable transfer target for some rich clubs. And I don't wanna brush off the recent rumor about him not wanting to renew his contract as a strategy to get more money. As I have written in a post a bit earlier in this thread, the recent transfers of Barcelona weren't really successful but rather expensive misunderstandings. Barcelona lost a bit of its shine imho so I can totally see the possibility of Messi leaving the club.

Yup, I'm aware of the marketing appeal of such transfers. But to be fair, Ronaldo's was the only one so far.
If it was a period before the corona outbreak, I'd maybe agree that Messi's transfer might be in that bracket. However, in the current state of the market I somehow think it is not really possible.

I'd like Messi to leave and go to a club where he'll have a dedicated role, it's hard seeing how much he has on his shoulders in Barcelona. He's the best player in the world for me and playing in a club in which he would not be responsible for everything would probably extend his career for 1-2 more years at a top level.

Could be a great signing for Liverpool, I just looked at his age though & he’s 29. Liverpool don’t tend to sign players of that age, maybe that will change though.

Partey linked with Arsenal move – Arteta will not sell prized assets to fund recruitment drive
I'm sure he'll manage to somehow offload the deadwood players and bring Partey in.
- I've read about another installment deal [like what they did for Pépé].

Great piece of business if it happens.

Isn't the contract of Sanchez ending this summer?
AFAIK, he'll be a free agent in 2022.

will Thiago move from bayern munich to fc liverpool...?
It's a good move for Liverpool, they have good midfielders but i don't think any of them is really creative, Fabinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Keita and even Milner cause he plays I'm midfield sometimes are all good midfielders, but they are not the type of midfielders I'll call creative, that can penetrate a tight defense with a good skill and a good through ball.

Thiago imo is that sort of midfielder, i enjoy how he moves with the ball and also beats players with his trickery, he'll solidify an already excellent midfield with his own set of talents, he has played in Spain, now in Germany, trying the epl out with Liverpool is also a good move for him.

Of course they cannot get 100 million for him, not even close. He's still the best player in the world but he has 1-2 more seasons on a top level and has no resale value after that.

Before the FFP rules some clubs with mega-rich owners would have bought him as a statement signing but a deal like that would be impossible to do without damaging the club in the long term.

If he goes, it will be at the end of his contract on a free transfer or at the beginning of this season for maybe 50 million - even that would be huge money for a 33-year old player.

Barcelona should pay Messi a ton of money just because of what he has already done for the club even if not on what he could do.

Yes he is a superstar, yes he is one of the best players in the world even at the age of 33, and yes he is the only player in Barcelona that can change the whole game very quickly, but a team may not want to give a 33 year old player a 4-5 year contract, I can understand that, even if it is Messi we are talking about.

However when you consider all the things he has done for the club, if you remember the sextuple that they had, Messi made this team from La Liga giants to world club that will be super famous even after he retires, so he deserves a big pay even if he doesn't end up playing, you pay Messi what he wants even if he doesn't show up to games, it is Messi we are talking about.

realized Inter Milan can get Sanchez cheaply for players as good as Sanchez, Manchester United sell cheap because they want to reduce
Sanchez's salary is too big.

Isn't the contract of Sanchez ending this summer?
I thought that this is the case and having said that they are going to sign him on a free transfer.
If they are not signing as free agent then it is good to sign him with not so much money for alleviating their position in financial fairplay.

If I was barcelona, I would look at the Real Madrid method. If you sell Messi right now he could still worth something, and yes I know the loyalty aspect of the situation makes it a lot harder and that is why even considering a sale of Messi by Barcelona sounds unreasonable, if you are spending 30-40 million dollars on useless players, it makes no sense to sell messi for even 100 million because he worths a lot more and fans would ask "if we needed 100m, you shouldn't buy all those useless players". However what is done is already done and if they can somehow get 100m for Messi and also not have to pay him, they could build a very rich future for themselves as well with all that extra money and open salary position.

@AakZaki @masulum Messi is not going anywhere, and this is his tactic to gain a long term contract at Barcelona, and along with the new contract he wants more power in the club hence he’s doing this drama. Also let’s get realistic at 33 he’s not young, and therefore no club will pay him the big wages he so craves for, hence I’m sure that Barcelona will be able to retain him beyond the 2020 - 2021 season.
It's none but a rumour I guess. I have shared my thoughts in other thread as well in this issue. Messi won't be leaving Barca. It's drama or whatever. But I can't agree that no club would pay him big wages. Cristiano too joined Juventus at the age of 33; Messi is still having good performance. So, if he wants, he can join some other club too with a big pay certainly.

33 or not, he's still playing brilliant football and any team would have him - if they could afford him, of course. There are definitely teams that can (City and PSG as frontrunners because he won't consider Real of course), United could pay him as well but somehow I feel he wouldn't go there at this point in time.

If he decides to go, he'll have his options. And those options will come from the best teams.
