But here, I still have confidence that Lyon can rise from its downfall and get out of the degradations zone. If later they will also be relegated then what can be done, but what is most unfortunate is that the reputation they have built in Ligue 1 will be tarnished, and they will no longer be considered an elite club. Club officials must spend a budget to improve the squad, not just replace the coach and hope that a turning point in performance can occur instantly.
The opportunity still exists and there may still be confidence that Lyon can get out of their downturn so that they can be free from the relegation zone so that next season they can still play in Ligue 1, but this opportunity will come in the next transfer window.
Lyon currently has chaotic squad, in fact each of their players is like player who is not qualified who knows what is affecting their performance, but they need progress to recover.
I don't know whether they will be busy in the next transfer window or not because it could cost quite lot so if the team officials don't dare to take risks in spending the budget then confidence and opportunities for Lyon will be lost in an instant.

And I think that later, if they are relegated, of course they can become the strongest team in League 2, but that is still just a thought because the team currently in League 2 will definitely also struggle to get promotion to enter Ligue 1.
Lyon will only have their last chance in January and after that, if there are no changes in their performance, it is quite clear that Lyon cannot avoid the relegation zone, but if there are changes, at least they can be a little more consistent, there is hope of avoiding relegation.
In fact, I see a lot of League 1 clubs that have changes in performance, such as Marseille and Lens, which currently don't have strong consistency like the previous season, which makes us always avoid betting on these clubs and Lyon is one of the clubs that has had bad changes this season.
If we talk about league 2 it uncertain and it is too early to say whether Lyon will be able to perform well there when they are relegated.

You are right and the Lyon's only chance will be in the winter when they can make some changes in the team and maybe even they should change their coach for another time but Lyon will definitely need to hire some other and better players to improve the team otherwise they can have no hope for the rest of the season because far there were disappointing in the French League.

I'm already dissapointed with PSG performance, they really have to  belt up because that's the only solid path to grow this season. There are leagues that are weigh below the standards of EPL and such leagues only require audience to boost the performance of the playes. Ligue One seems to be very unserious to me because there's absolutely nothing so interesting abut the league, only PSG becomes the only elite clubs there. Paris Saint Germain have top targets this season and winning the Ligue One is among despite their hunger tastes for the UEFA Champions League trophy this season.
The Ligue1 trophy is very common for PSG because as you said, in Ligue1 there is only one truly elite team, namely PSG. So the Ligue1 trophy target is no longer something extraordinary for PSG even though this trophy must also be considered important by PSG in every season. So far, PSG is still often targeting the UCL trophy, which in general PSG has never had while they competed in the Champions League, so this is still the main target for PSG this season, although I am still quite doubtful that PSG will be able to get it with the level of performance they have now.

PSG faced difficult qualify to 16 round on Champion League, Luis Henrique have questionable with his reputation after playing 5 matches on group stage still can't bring PSG qualifying to next round. Left one match and PSG must win if want get existing in Champion League this season and most disappointed for the first time seems PSG can't qualify from group stage.
PSG only have better performance back in the Ligue 1 and their biggest dream this season was to win the champions league but then it looks like this dream may elude them again this season because they are putting up a really poor performance that doesn't look like one that will get them the UCL.

They are literally struggling to qualify of which they most likely will if they are able to win their next match which will turn out their last group stage match in the UCL this season. They most likely should focus on the Ligue 1 title again this season because they are yet to get the kind of form they need to lift the UCL trophy. Except they will restrategise how well they will be able to get the UCL as that will help promote the status of the Ligue 1 too.

I will not be disappointed with PSG performance because even though it ended in draw, it is much better than losing without getting points, but I regret seeing Lens performance, which was beaten big team from EPL with big score.

But wouldn't it be fair to say that PSG can't change how Ligue 1 is perceived in public unless they do win the Champions League? It is the only result that would receive massive public recognition from outside. If PSG wins Ligue 1 with more than 100 points, who really cares when they get knocked out in the quarterfinals of the Champions League? I think it is nothing they can really be blamed for and at the same time it is also close to impossible for them to dominate the Champions League as they don't have the weekly sparring partners like Manchester City has in England or Real Madrid has in Spain.

In fact, there is nothing that forbids you from being disappointed with PSG. If we talk about Bangkit, PSG has done a good job in Ligue 1. Now, they are at the top of the standings even though they are only separated by a narrow point difference from the teams below them. even if Ligue 1 doesn't interest you, you don't actually need to watch the matches presented by this competition every week. so, it's that simple. and in fact, only PSG is the most elite team in this competition. they have abundant finances, they can even bring in the players they want. but even then, if there is a contract with the player they want.

The point is, for me PSG's probability of retaining the trophy in this competition is still very likely. It's just that Enrique still has work to do to make his squad more solid. and don't get your hopes up that PSG this season will perform well in the Champions League. as I said in several previous posts, now PSG's philosophy has changed. from the mega star project, to being more focused on building a team starting from scratch again. like, sort of building the foundation for the team and club. under Enrique PSG can be handled well, but the results will not be instant.

In fact, PSG's results in the Champions League were quite disappointing because it was a home match and they should have been able to ensure they would qualify from the group phase if they could win against Newcastle because Dortmund won against AC Milan so the sixth match no longer had an impact.
Meanwhile, Lens' loss to Arsenal was as predicted, but this crushing defeat will certainly really affect the mentality of their players.

PSG have had to forget about the not-so-good results to focus on the match against Le Havre to maintain their secure position as leaders of the standings. In this match, PSG is far superior to the home team, although they should not be careless because even a draw will probably bring them down in the rankings because their competitors are ready to take advantage of the poor results they are experiencing.
That's the problem, they are still not guaranteed and for a team that spends hundreds of millions every year, not being able to go up from a group stage would be suicide basically. They keep firing managers and then getting someone else but whoever is the person that decides on which manager to get, that's the problem. Is it the director of football, is it the boss, the owner or whatever I have no idea but whoever has this job, they are doing a terrible job. I have said this for years, and I will keep saying it for more years; getting Zidane to be their manager is more important than keeping Mbappe.

If you asked me would you get Zidane and lose Mbappe for PSG or would you keep Mbappe and not get Zidane, I would seriously say get Zidane and fire Mbappe on the spot. He would make PSG without Mbappe a better team than without Zidane but with Mbappe. That dude is an UCL master, he won literally three times in a row, how many people can say that in this age.

Breaking News!

Having only been Lyon coach for about a month, it is reported that Fabio Grosso has been fired as of today. This is very surprising news and I think this is a difficult decision because Lyon is still stuck in the relegation zone until week 12. Management seems less than happy with the results given by Fabio Grosso and they feel they have to end this partnership sooner than targeted in beginning.

I don't know whether this is the right decision or not for Lyon, but as one of the big teams in Ligue 1 they should prioritize more important things because there is no way they want to be relegated this season. On the other hand, for Fabio Grosso it seems that this is quite a regret to hit him and if he were still at Frosinone he would definitely still be the coach of a team.

Today in French Soccer League, Montpellier vs Clermont Foot was a tough match between two teams. For which neither team could win today's match. Clermont Foot started the game well in the first half. Montpellier did not play well before halftime which made Montpellier team not score any goals before halftime.  However, Clermont Foot had a poor performance after halftime for which Montpellier team scored 1 goal to draw the match. However, players from both teams received red cards.

I would have been happy if Montpellier could have won this match. Montpellier had a great performance in their home match today. The players of Montpellier tried their best to win. In the match we only saw the dominance of Montpellier players. Montpellier players have 63% of the ball possession. And they were able to make 32 shots in the entire match. On the other hand, Clermont Foot had a total of 5 shots, one of which was on target. Clermont Foot was very lucky so they managed to get 1 point in this match. On the other hand, even after performing well, Montpellier could not get 3 points. Clermont Foot are still in the relegation zone. The chances of the team getting out of the relegation zone are very low.
Indeed, statistically Montpellier had a great performance and can dominance that game, but unfortunately they could only get one point with a draw result. It is quite interesting, the Clermont team which is currently in the relegation zone have a good defensive in this match.
Yes Montpellier have a lot shot of attempts goal at there, but can't scored. Not only that, they also had lots of golden opportunities but could only scored on penalty. I think it's a bad day for them, but on the other side playing against a team with a full defense is really difficult for any team.

Even though PSG couldn't make the best start in the league first they still managed to get to the lead easily and opened a quite wide gap with the others - except Nice. This just shows the quality of the Ligue 1 clearly I'm afraid. PSG even made big changes in their lineup this season. But still there is a huge quality gap between their squad and the rest of the teams. Probably this season is going to be another one in which PSG win the league title no matter how difficult it becomes.

Maybe Nice can make things more difficult but I don't know. We need to see at least the same performance which Lens had in the previous season.

Although Nice is still unbeaten so far and also only has a gap of 1 point with PSG but still, Nice does not have good goal productivity at this moment. Thus, it is likely that this factor will make it difficult for Nice to overtake PSG. Although for example Nice can return to the top of the standings but yes, it still seems easy for PSG to take over the top of the standings again and until finally PSG will still get the Ligue 1 trophy this season. But yes, indeed, at least Nice also has a good defense so far, because Nice managed to be a team that conceded a very low total. But at least, that factor still won't be enough for Nice to compete well with PSG in the title race.
Yes, but the competition is still long while the difference in points is still very close and I still believe that Nice will overtake PSG again in the next match and my belief is after seeing Nice's excellent consistency, they have never even been defeated and have no scheduled matches in other competitions, whereas PSG It will be difficult with other matches in the Champions League, making PSG decline a little and have to focus on one competition.

But I will say that there is still a chance. I cannot even say that for the other team in this league. They have fallen off so far that there is almost no chance for them to be able to catch PSG. If any team can actually catch PSG now it is going to be Nice. For every other team, the point difference is just too much to be able to close. And even though I also do not think that PSG will face any big problems because of Nice I still hold out hope. But I still do not think that PSG is going to be beaten by any team for the title.
PSG had a very good winning season with Luis Enrique. In fact, the point gap with Monaco can be closed. While Paris has 30 points, Monaco has 24 points. That's why not only Nice but Monaco are still following them as the second team. Even though there are important teams in the French league, the game shows us that PSG is at a much higher level than other teams. If they win the championship by a long shot, it should be considered normal.

Paris Saint Germain are the strongest club here, they have everything that is superior to other clubs. It would be very strange if they couldn't defend their title, however I don't think there is a club that can match Paris Siant Germain in LIgue 1, because they have a lot of money. They need expensive players even though they will be able to buy them, as happened last season, where they are inhabited by star players, such as Messi, Neymar and their young star Mbappe. This is something that other clubs can't do, so it makes a huge difference in quality.

They are a very rich club that have enough money to sign any player they would like indeed. However they will need to make extra effort for keeping their best players in the squad for long years as well.

For now they aren't very good at that. First Messi and Neymar have left the team. And now there is a high risk for losing Mbappe by next summer as well. Losing Mbappe means losing most of their strength. Because Mbappe equals PSG at the moment. They are too dependent on him. I wonder what Luis Enrique is planning against this possibility. If he doesn't get ready for playing without him then PSG could even crave for these times.  Sad

There are a number of teams in Ligue 1 who have the ability to break the dominance of PSG but not too strong to hold PSG until the end of the season. The depth of the squad is also a problem when a number of players are injured, for example we talk about the Nice, Monaco, and Lille squad this season and the problem is when some important players in the first team are injured so that it is difficult to compensate for the match until the season ends.
Difficult to see how consistent performance the other team pressure PSG dominance in Ligue 1 regarding some of teams debt of the squad and difference with PSG huge financial condition make them easily for signing new player when winter transfer window opening. Current standings have Nice success give pressure for PSG on the first place behind one point left make it excited if loss points next match will make PSG have drop to second position. But its not easy waiting for PSG drop from top position because doubt with consistency performance from Nice, AS Monaco or Lille with teams have fewest difference points with PSG.

PSG has a solid squad and reserve players they have also have almost evenly distributed abilities when talking about competition in Ligue 1. But it will be different when talking about the Champions League because in addition to having a solid squad depth also requires experience for its players Management target is more focused on PSG in the Champions League through Luis Enrique and I must agree with you that the strength they have at this time does not have the opportunity to advance to the semifinals.

I have said before that Nice and Psg are teams that so far are strong candidates in the competition at the top of the standing because they are close on points to each other at the top of the standing. In the last 3 seasons we have seen that many changes have occurred in the top 4 and there are often surprises like what Lens did in the previous season. So this season, PSG has made big changes to their team, such as selling Neymar and the departure of Messi, which is one of the imbalances that has occurred but that can be corrected by Luis enrique.

I think that PSG returning to winning ways in a row will make them stronger and will not give Nice a chance to move their ranking. Mbappe played an important role in PSG revival in achieving consecutive wins. He has found his sharpness to score many goals in every match. Fans certainly praise Luis Enrique performance in bringing change in a better direction and this is a pretty good start for him.
Current standing, Nice remaining one point from PSG and both teams are strong candidate become the winner of Ligue 1 season 2023/24, AS Monaco could be third option favorite team but they have less consistent in last several matches and make gap six points from current top standings PSG. Seems very early for predicting about both teams PSG and Nice are favorite team will be candidate Ligue 1 winner because left many matches and all possibilities happen due still have Marseille, AS Monaco and Lille will make pressure for PSG on top standings.

I don't think anyone is going to be able to beat PSG for the lake title. They should be able to win and the other teams will probably not be able to cause too much trouble for them. Nice is still in the chase. But I wonder for how long they are going to be. Because let's be honest, no other club is actually at the same level of competition as PSG. But on the other hand, Nice is definitely a team that will face a lot of competition. So it is easier for PSG to continue performing well and keep winning compared to Nice. That's why I don’t think any team will actually give them big trouble.

This PSG we see in this season is far better than the last season and their performance has been amazing so far in this season. I think the problem in PSG was mostly because of their coach and now after having Enrique in this team, they have a much better performance the only teams to race with PSG in the French league are now just Nice while even Nice is not strong enough to win the title.

PSG only gat a very impressive performance in the Ligue 1 but lesser performance in the champions league, after their encounter with Newcastle in their last UCL game, I came to the conclusion that they are quite inconsistent especially in the champions league.

I doubt if PSG meets Dortmund they will be able to get complete three points from them because their inconsistency again may play out and I Also have some form of doubts as it concerns how well they will do in the round of sixteen because if they are finishing the group stage in the second spot then, they should be sure to meet tough teams and their form in the champions league is such that gives me some doubts if they will be able to make it pass that stages, except if they will be able to make good use of the transfer windows by January to strengthen their team further, after all they have got the financial capacity.
I think that's true, PSG has two different performances between Ligue 1 and the European Champions League. On paper they should be able to progress smoothly, considering that Enrique has quite good squad depth. However, it is quite difficult to explain what they really need apart from luck, even now Enrique squad is having difficulty getting through the group phase, so they are required to try in the life and death match against Dortmund on matchday 6. PSG failed, to get their revenge against Newcastle yesterday.

In the first leg, PSG managed to beat Dortmund, but when I saw their game against Newcastle yesterday, I had a little doubt about Mbappe and his colleagues. However, keeping in mind the importance of this match, PSG will try desperately to secure 3 points. Because if they draw, Newcastle will get an advantage here, but with the condition that they have to beat Milan first. I think it's important to wait to see who can actually secure another slot in group F, before we look further ahead about PSG future.

The groups in the Champions League with PSG and the other teams and the one with Manchester United are highly interesting. PSG is still at risk if they don't win their game and Dortmund would lose their first position, which I am sure they will try to avoid. The game against Newcastle was very important as well as now the risk is still there that Newcastle wins their game, PSG ties the game against Dortmund and ends up having the same number of points, but Newcastle would have an advantage over PSG because of their two games against each other. I expect some good action for matchday 6.

I was surprised, even though this match was played without spectators, but it seemed the tension in this match was very high. The proof is that there are lots of cards in this match, especially red cards. I wonder if these two teams are rivals that have been going on a long time or maybe there is something else going on . The reason is, for a match that brings together a lower team in the standings, but the match should go fine, but in reality that's not the case at all. Even though their position in the standings is also quite wide, Montpellier is in 13th position and Clermont is in 17th position and is in the relegation zone. But even so, they only have a gap of 3 points but ya, many incidents occurred in this match and it was a match that had very high tension of course.

I really believe that Nice's present shape is a trick. Yes, they haven't lost yet, but those five draws show something else. It doesn't look good for their long-term chances that they've had trouble against teams like Lille and Lyon. They beat PSG, Monaco, and Marseille, which is great, but in a long season, stability is very important. There needs to be more wins instead of draws if they want to be seen as a real threat to PSG

I think PSG's attention might shift based on how they do in Europe, but that doesn't mean Nice will be able to play in Ligue 1. PSG is a tough team to beat in any game because they have a lot of depth and experience under Enrique's direction. Although I'd like the race to the top to be more competitive, PSG currently appears to be ahead of all the other teams

Yeah.. Lyon is in dangerous situation. Their current chances of avoiding relegation are decreasing with each of their next matches. The team's inconsistent performance, plus their inability to score and defend leading score, has put them in a critical position. I'm convinced that the upcoming winter transfer window is the only moment of chance for Lyon to make a big change to their squad, potentially introducing new players who can inject fresh energy and improve the team's overall performance. But, I think even with such changes, it remains to be seen whether or not lyon can reverse their fortunes and escape from relegation zone.

I think that the chances for lyon to avoid relegation are slim but not impossible. Their investment in the upcoming transfer window could provide a hope, but the team's performance will determine their fate. The hope of staying in Ligue 1 would depends on their ability to retain key players, attract new talent, and adapt to the different style of play. And their potential relegation, the outcome remains uncertain, with their future success hinging on their adaptability and ability to rebuild.

Lens were demolished by Arsenal in the Champions League by a score like 6-0 last night. They are still most likely to move on in the Europa League from now on though. But I'm curious about whether this big loss will affect their morale too much in their next Ligue 1 game. They actually have a good opportunity to make up for it.  Grin

Because their opponent this time is Lyon in a home game. We all know how bad Lyon have been so far. Lens have been in a good form in the league recently as well. Therefore I feel like Lens will make a good effort and increase their winning streak to three games.
I think this defeat will not have any effect on Lens' performance in Ligue 1 and they will still focus on maintaining their existing winning trend. Maybe they lost to Arsenal in the Champions League but they also did the same thing in the first round by beating Arsenal. Even though there is only a slot left in the European league, at least it is still better than not continuing the competition at all in Europe.

Lyon is not an obstacle that will stop Lens and I don't think Lyon is still able to make it difficult for Lens to keep getting 3 points. Lens must win if they want to overtake Reims and then they will be closer to the top 4. The current Lens is different from the Lens we previously knew at the start of the season and I'm happy to see them back on the right track.
