These people support the good efforts of the users, that is the meaning of a community. I don't think most users will be in this thread from 0 merit, as most are those whose countdown to the next rank is very close. This opinion has also been shared by other users, I guess it's true and they don't go away even though it's actually not forever in this thread.

After you said that those who rank up thanks to this thread disappeared, precisely under our post appeared @Sandra_hakeem who needed 6 merits to be able to rank up to SR.

You can see for yourself that after @_BlackStar gave some examples of accounts that create countdowns in this thread with very reasonable explanations in my opinion, there are new examples like @Asiska02 who put the countdown to the next rank just a few more merits.

In essence, this forum is very helpful for anyone who has the desire to rank up as long as we walk on the conditions that have been set. Not necessarily in this thread.
In my case, The Pharmacist and several other users have helped me to be able to promote.
I will never forget all of this and I really enjoyed the promotion to SR from FM.

No need to be surprised mate. You don't need to find this thread to rank up, without this thread you can still go to a higher rank. Do something valuable for the forum, you can learn from the seniors here how to make posts that are constructive, informative and useful. You have to believe, merit is not hard to get if you understand how. Check out the Contributors and Merit Sources here, they are so enthusiastic about helping anyone to quickly reach a new rank. Without quality posts, don't ever dream of being able to get merit, now you determine the direction.

why should you be surprised? many threads that can help you get support to rank up.
after all, not everyone posts here to earn extra Merit.
some are still quite far from the rank-up target. They can also use posting here as their motivation to be able to reach the target faster.

I don't think is a most for people that have been ranked up to keep on posting on the thread frequently, I think if their is not anything serious to say then you don't have to post, the thread should be clean, the thread is just to announce Post Count Down To Your Next Rank, anybody that's having smerit can help. Most people that receive their merit to rank up are not always active here by giving other people that apply merit because most of them don't really have much smerit, I think we should always bring the thread to merit source attention so that they can help people that apply rank up. I haven't been active here because I don't really have much smerit but I received some merits from @The Pharmacist recently so I will be checking users that are having like 5-10 merits left to rank up and I will be meriting them.

It was because this thread allowed some of users to get the last few merit ^{[10 or 20 for example]} to rank up. Most of them get some merit from various other threads and post a countdown to the next rank when it gets really close.

Why do you think that's the problem, even I don't think they are obliged to continue sharing merit in this thread if they don't find suitable users. Although they gained the last few merit to rank up in this thread, but disappearing or returning to this thread is not an mandatory.

Those who get an account rank promotion thanks to this thread will not do what you think friends. They will also help others as much as they can, because every account that puts a post here will be seen by many people. From the lowest ranked to the highest ranked accounts will see it. If they open our profile and they think our posts are worthy, of course they will help.

Not here, maybe in another thread. Not this week, maybe next week. That means we have to be sure that they will. They understand how the merit system works.

My thought too, and with this am more than certain there are more merits to go around from ordinary members than merit sources themselves! And if we the ordinary members took time to read other people's posts and reward the deserving this could give m-sources some time off reading/reviewing our good, bad, ugly posts week in week out! Put oneself in a merit source shoes, I feel the extra effort it needs from these guy's #hats_off_to_you_MVPs

I had posted on this thread before it got so popular, and I'm still occasionally lurking to see if anyone requires a little bit of merit in order to rank up. I don't remember receiving much merit deriving from this thread before ranking up, but it's okay, I decided to help anyway by giving away all my smerits.

I've helped quite a few members here rank. However, I'm also doing a brief review of your posts in order to send you merit. As awful as it may sound, I won't be giving merit to someone who posts one-liners or generally doesn't put an effort into their posts. Sources may have stricter rules when providing merit and may not also actively watch the thread in order to participate.
