And my simple analogy to gambling, I consider that coming to a casino is like coming to a "theme park." By getting money from a big win, the winning gambler forgets to take care of himself by cashing out his winnings and immediately leaving the casino. Some can get out easily after getting that big win, but there are still many who have difficulty leaving the casino because they are still tempted to get an even bigger win. However, getting a win from gambling is difficult, so we have to know our abilities, and we cannot always win. I can see your point, in theory gambling should be just like any form of entertainment that exists, in which you exchange some of your money for the fun and the excitement that you are looking for, but there are many gamblers out there that are not really pursuing that goal, and when confronted about that fact they try to make it seem as if they were trying to gamble for fun all along, something they know is not true but that can shield them from the criticism of others.

Isn't the initial engagement in gambling is due to temptation.  A person is tempted to try their luck and engage in gambling activities.  If they are not tempted of the big wins or temporary solace the gambling brings, then people won't be engaging in gambling.

Despite of the temptation of the chance of winning huge amount of money, a gambler should control himself.  A gambler must be a responsible gambler so that their gambling venture won't be a disastrous one.

I believe whether gambling is good or bad depends on the person who is engaging with it.  Gambling is just a tool for entertainment for some and a tool to gain profit for others.  The effect of it whether bad or good is dependent on the player's decision and performance and not gambling itself.

Regarding the idea that gambling is just for fun, I feel ambiguous between agreeing or disagreeing. Because in fact at this time many people use these words just to be a defense for the bad gambling they do. And what they say is far from what they do, where they spend money and time just to play gambling, and when someone tries to make him realize, he says that this is my pleasure and I gamble just for fun. They say that gambling is fun but when he loses, he regrets it.

Sad to hear about what happened with your dad. You're right, gambling can be harmful but only if it gets out of control. It's all about balance and knowing your limits. If you're gambling just for fun and not risking more than you can afford to lose, it's like any other paid entertainment. The moment it stops being fun or starts hurting your finances, it's time to think again. Gambling definitely should never be seen as a way to make money. This was the warning for the people who can't handle their emotion in the gambling sites,if the gambler can handle their emotions in the gambling sites.The possibilities of loss in the gambling sites was very low,So the gambler try to keep their emotions after the big win in the gambling sites and loss from the same gambling sites.After the big win,you get tempt to play for the long duration for the big win from the holding dollars.But the fact is different,you will lose your self control after some losses in the gambling site.Even if you won 10x of the deposited money,the 1x loss from the winning money will affect your mindset and you start to play the game till the loss 1x money was recovered. First, Im sorry for the situation you are living in, and sorry that your parents and family is ruined because of gambling. But when you see Alcohol, gambling, medical drugs and many other stuff like this were created for a good purpose in humans lives. Personally, I can’t say that gambling is good nor bad because it’s a coin with two faces and everyone has the freedom and choice to take which side he wants to choose.
Let’s take for instance many gamblers here in Bitcointalk, that I know personally are gambling and never had issues or ruined their family. I, also gamble enjoy sometimes and feel bad sometimes but I take it as watching a football game, sometimes your favorite team wins sometimes lose but not to a point you spend all you family saving or even sell important things for gambling. It’s can ruin lives true! But only for those who doesn’t control or think well.

Perhaps they know the right time to stop betting, but most gamblers find the temptation increasing so much that they cannot stop themselves from gambling. They are getting deeper into gambling, and some are dominated by greed because some win, and instead of stopping gambling, they continue playing and hope to win more money. That's why we always have to be careful when gambling and don't need to indulge our ego in continuing to gamble because we have to be responsible with ourselves and our money. We can gamble another day, and by stopping gambling today, we can control ourselves well, but we have to keep practising it so that we won't be tempted by anything in the casino.

Those that don't have a happy ending considers it bad and you can't blame them because that's what they think gambling did to them.

The average person gambles very often beyond the limit so that they are very easily addicted to gambling which is why what they do has a bad impact on themselves, even though they can limit it to a moderate amount without having to use a lot of money to gamble. It is always because of someones decision making and on how they do treat up gambling in the first place. Most gamblers are really that delusional on which they do really believe
that they could really be able to make money or make themselves rich with gambling and this is something a mindset that would really make you push into your limits.
Gambling isnt bad if you are really just playing just for fun but on the time that those intents had changed up overtime then this is where bad things do happen.
You would be able to caught yourself on a bad situation when you dont have the money anymore or simply does have that huge problem with finances

Yes, it is true that psychological impacts such as emotions always influence a gambler mind to become worse and become greedy, so as you said, many gamblers fail to know the right time to stop betting while their minds are dominated by greed which is caused by this psychological impact and all gamblers who have been around for a long time in gambling have experienced this situation.
Gambling games are good or not depending on how we perceive gambling and also how we manage our minds so as not to be influenced by bad things like that and if a gambler manages to manage his mind without being affected by bad things, gambling will definitely be a very interesting thing.

The longer you are making  yourself getting involved with gambling then those initial thoughts and plans would really be gradually changing until you would be coming into a point
that you will really be that playing not already for fun but already for the sake of profits and specially on the time that you would be experiencing losses then those intents and mindset
would really be definitely be able to changed up. This is why it would really be that important that if you are really that having plans on not to make yourself that get addicted
and you do find out that you are emotionally impulsive then it would be better that you should really be avoiding gambling while its still early.

OP's mindset is like a logical fallacy if you ask me, because he blame something while the actual mistake was done by his father.
He should blame his father who could not control his gambling habbit that ruined the whole family's life including him as his son.
Ironically, he suggested others to stay away from gambling but he is still participating in gambling related thing (giveaway) from casinos LOL.
Although maybe he is participating in giveaways only, but it is a proof that he cant keep his own words because he himself unable to stay away.

This idea of business where they can be able to pull out profit just like that is most common amongst gamblers then the main idea of entertainment and fun, even those who claims they gamble for fun, at some point are more interested in making the profit than having just fun.

Like you rightly Said, if you wan to stay profitable in the gambling industry then own a casino, anything outside this make the gambler luck dependent, because you can't out play the chances of loosing at some point provided you are consistent with your gambling habit, they only time you don't lose is when you don't play, as a player there's no assurance of staying profitable all the time regardless of your strategy.

Gambling is not bad, you yourself are responsible for everything that happens in your gambling activities. btw, Bitcoin is actually one of the best solutions to the financial difficulties experienced by many people, but many people make the wrong use of Bitcoin, such as transacting criminal things and sometimes as gambling capital. I like gambling but I don't like using Bitcoin as gambling capital. Gambling might be bad for irresponsible gamblers or people with addiction issues that aren’t wise with their money. For a lot of people though it’s a way to add entertainment to games they’re going to watch on tv or maybe add a little fun with their friends when watching an event. Like everything, a little fun in moderation is perfectly fine.
