The OP has misunderstood what gambling is, because if it were inherently bad, it wouldn't exist in the world. If you are in business, it will be easier for you to understand what gambling is. I would agree that gambling is risky, but it's not inherently bad. Its 'badness' is based on an individual's experience, especially if they don't know how to manage the risk.
Many things are risky; even entering into business is risky because there's no guarantee of success. When you start a business, you risk your money, and if you fail, you lose your money. It's the same concept with gambling—you take a risk. However, as we all know, gambling is not a reliable way to make a source of income, so everyone should only see it as a form of entertainment.
I agree, it always depends on every individual who does gambling. If a person will let the addiction overcome, this will be really bad and result in having a bad personality and make you do bad things. If it is really bad, the government in each country will ban it and stop it from operating.
So the question now is, if you want to be entertained, are you willing to spend money?
We already know the answer even without asking that question. Aside from being entertained, the other reason why people are willing to spend or risk their money is because of trying to have a chance to double their money.
