Nice topic. We need an objective metric to evaluate the gangs to see which one is the most powerful. Does my Kitty Cult win? Tongue
Should we talk about something else? Can one member from one gang belong to another  Tongue I am talking about your Kitty Cult  Wink Me and many other WO members love cats (I have a cool cat on my hat  Grin), check our hats and you'll see that there are lots of cats  Tongue If I'm not mistaken, you are also active at WO. So we will belong to both gangs, right?

Oh dear - I seem to have been stabbing Suchmoon, Foxpup, and TMAN. All great members, but I seem to spend more time trying to merit the newcomers. Where is TMAN btw, I haven't noticed him around for a while.

CLASSIFIED: TOP SECRET

Nice topic. We need an objective metric to evaluate the gangs to see which one is the most powerful.

I propose the metric of a riddle:  Is your name a cipher, of cipher?  The metric is objective, and binary in its quantification:  The result is either 0 or 1.  The result is 1 iff zero, and thus is zero iff 1.  There can be only one of zero.

Does my Kitty Cult win? Tongue

I hope you win!  And I am relieved that you did not divine my secret plan before I managed to redact it from the Internet.  ++opsec.

As a certified cult leader myself, I unfortunately cannot join the Cult of Lauda.  It says so in the rules of cult-leading.  But I do appreciate her eddie13-endorsed power as “the greatest... threat” to TAKE OVER THE WORLD.  For that is only a part of my own scheme:  I will support Lauda’s conquest; and when her world domination is an accomplished fact, I will then seize her in blockchains and carry her off to the Castle of Nullity where from deep within the void, I will use her to rule this tiny speck of a planet by proxy.  It is only the first step in my own plans to TAKE OVER THE UNIVERSE.

The plan is perfect, if Lauda never suspects my intentions before it is too late for her.  I had better tighten up my opsec, and encrypt all my musings on the subject.  She will never see it coming.  Nice kitty.

Damn, my security against leaks is even better than the NSA’s and the CIA’s combined!  To read more, I suggest this felid command for opening my repository of secrets:

Code:
cat < /dev/null

With all due respect to all gangs here and without trying to flame things up (more than they are / more than I already did Smiley ), I think that Cult of Lauda can be defeated in a 1v1 battle only by the Mods Gang.

Please keep telling Lauda that!  It will keep her off-guard.  It is obvious that Lauda could be conquered only by the best and the strongest!  ++lauda

The Zeroth Rule of Unclub

Spare a thought too for the gangless, that vast array of bounty-hunters wandering about the altcoin wastelands not getting paid shit for their shit.

By so saying, you have inadvertently nominated yourself as Supreme Leader of the V8s.  I infer that it may be an unclub, in which non-membership is unobtained in the manner of two men who punch each other in a bar, then buy each other beers.  Expect few unfollowers—all of whom must be the rare and rarefied types who eschew Facebook on grounds of their not being ovine slaves its lack of an “I don’t dislike this” button.

If you don’t unwant more, I think the trick is that you must disclaim any interest in forming a gang, whilst previously having formed something better:  A cult.  You see, GazetaBitcoin did spare a thought for the gangless:

4. The Nullian Cult, also known as "The Nullian Gang (TINNG)"
Supreme Leader: nullius
...although the leader said he is "too much of a lone wolf to form a gang"...

Then, you must write autarchic essays so élite that they work best when translated to a beautiful language that relatively few forum members can read:  “Nu respingeți autoritatea: fiți propria voastră autoritate.“  Just as the best of thought was once upon a time writ in classical Latin, or even reserved in Greek, or...

* nullius is currently seeking Sanskrit translators for his most precious thoughts.

...kept private.

Great summary of Bitcointalk gangs and written in such a funny way that I couldn't stop to read.
Of course, it is quite surprising how many gangs actually are active on the forum right now because I was aware only about 4 of them.
~snip~
It has to be a lot of work to find all these gangs, with proper ANN threads, first mentions, members, dates and so on, tremendous work OP, kudos and merit for that from me.

Hehe, thank you! I'm laughing also when I'm reading it after I make another update. And indeed, I never knew as well about so many gangs. It was a lot of work, yes... As you can see, I'm working on this topic for two days already Smiley

Nice topic. We need an objective metric to evaluate the gangs to see which one is the most powerful. Does my Kitty Cult win? Tongue

Thank you for appreciating my work, Supreme Leader!

Regarding metrics, I'm open for suggestions. I managed so far to write some of the alliances / beefs between the gangs. Btw, I didn't know about the expression "to have a beef with" before I saw it at nutildah. It sounded funny, as at first I was thinking at a beef and afterwards I understood its meaning. So I used it as well.

If your Kitty Cult wins? Well, from what I saw so far, it is a very strong gang indeed! I also noted some examples of its pure power -

Quote
Reputation: power comes in numbers; this gang is a small army.
Activity: controlling the trust system
~snip~
Union Trust - an inferior gang created for the sole purpose to fight against two lieutenants from Cult of Lauda, but also against this gang's leader. Of course they were smashed in pieces, without knowing who they're messing with!

With all due respect to all gangs here and without trying to flame things up (more than they are / more than I already did Smiley ), I think that Cult of Lauda can be defeated in a 1v1 battle only by the Mods Gang. Also, controlling the trust system is a proof of brute force! But surprises can appear from any side. Maybe even from Flat Earth Believers, which are considered to be inofensive...  Huh

Never thought to see my username in a gang, but surprise, surprise I am in the Spambusters Gang, which is true, only we have called it always club (Spambusters Club), anyways, I have to admit that "gang" sounds a lot better in my opinion  Wink.

It has to be a lot of work to find all these gangs, with proper ANN threads, first mentions, members, dates and so on, tremendous work OP, kudos and merit for that from me.

Latest updates:
- added Bitcointalk Gang, Anti DT Gang, Union Trust and TOAA gangs to the Defunct section
- added Monero Gang, FUD Gang, Cheaters Gang, Flat Earth Believers and Hardcore Bounty Hunter Gang to the Obscure section
- added The Objective Standard Guild to the Nascent section
- small modifications to the descriptions of the previous listed gangs, in order "to reflect better the reality".

Man, there are so many gangs in here. I'm starting to believe wolvoo Smiley

How about this picture, I like it more than your picture  Cheesy

Added!

Damn there's one big gang missing in the big picture, the bone bitcoin Collectors, those are many, with MJ as a top collector, but he is also a team leader of the The Escrow team. Things are getting more messed up when you add the IT Mining Crowd, many of them silently lurking in the Computer Hardware (in the Marketplace).
... I can continue if you want me to Smiley

Can you give me more details (more precise) please about the collectors and about the Mining Crowd?

This is a jolly good call. They lurk together in real life by the sounds of it and have communities elsewhere too. I'd prefer it if they were scarier though. There's not really enough venom on display. One of them needs to do the right thing and do a driveby.

A couple of things that could probably be expanded upon are Gang Signs and Beefs/Alliances.

I think the WO Gang is the only gang with a true gang sign, which is of course the letters W and O made in this fashion:

<...>

That hand is definetly mine.
I think the first use of that gesture on the thread is mine too (please someone with less alchol and more memory than me check this statement).

Regarding hats, I'd suggest checking the official hats repository by VB1001:

The Hat Gang / most WO-Regs will likely pool coin together to buy Madagascar, some-time in late 2032, and turn it into an entirely self-sustainable Citadel micro-nation.

I like this way of your saying  Wink It sounds pretty far in the future, but it's good for all of us  Kiss
That means a few things - we like to shit with the door open, we talk about pussy, we go on riverboat gambling trips, and we make our own beef jerky. That's what we do.
I love it all, but you lack the most important thing if we're together, we will say bullshit about bitcoin  Wink I will hope that I have the opportunity to do so in the future

I updated the Mods Gang, the SpamBusters gang and also the WO gang, with its smaller gangs. Still need though some reference about the Slack gang from Last of the V8s or from anyone else.

Working now on another bunch of gangs here Smiley I have to deeply analyze them.

Examples of Beefs/Alliances might include an occasional beef between Cult of Lauda and WO Gang, and the general alliance (more like overlap) of Cult of Lauda and Nullian Gang.

I question the legitimacy/existence of a few gangs because I don't think they're even aware they're a gang - they frontin poser busters - but thats OK, maybe this thread will strengthen everybody's divide and allegiances, LOL.
