The price skyrocketed and also swiftly went down. Is it just speculation or did people fix profits?

What if this is just prep for bigger move?

quite possible. Just dropped weak hands and fly up to $ 1000

Byteball has done its share of flying. Before, it has began with a 0.02 BTC price. Today, it is somewhere around 0.09 BTC. There is still some high probability that this GBYTE will still increase in price considering the heights that it previously achieved. But it is somewhere in the middle right now. A much lower point is better for buyers.

Sooner or later the price of byteball will rice. But i think there will be big blood when the airdrop phase is over. There will be a dump, but im sure with these dev we can only go up after all these weak hands are shaked out. So guys, just hold your Byteballs Smiley

nah. they've very wisely slowed the airdrops down. they'll probably taper down further. by the time it's over there should hopefully be some real usage and real demand from buyers and users.

I think it was a really good move on the part of the dev to slow it down. It will help avoid or minimize price dump on the next succeeding distribution.

For now, only the transactional part (bytes) seems to be a really strong point. But competition in this field is fierce (newest contender is HCash) and there is every reason to think that the concept of no fees (IOTA, RaiBlocks) will win out if payment speed and reliability are solved. For the rest, there is Bitcoin and Monero/Dash.

I really can't see HCash as a contender. Just another very dodgy ICO without anything substantial to offer.

Tonych is moving towards merchant adoption which is a very good think for the project. I like the change of airdrop strategy a lot.

I think Byteball needs a real life purpose:
- token attached to chat (young people?): then the chat function should be core and have features like Telegram, Snapchat, WhatsApp
- commerce (perhaps in combination with TenX type of solutions): only advantage I see now is low fees currently and free of Blockchain bloat. But blockchain bloat does not concern average users and it is too tinly spread out and unknown. And it is not accessible to third party witnesses/miners very much (=centralised)
- black bytes: a good angle is privacy coins or black coins (whatever you call this particular type of coins). Byteball scores in terms of having white and black in one wallet. But downside is that these are 2 types of coins with each their own markets/pricing. And sending black bytes takes some efforts (devices have to be joined first) so the privacy between the transacting parties is not so private.
- private assets: great idea but the implementation has some issues (see: https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@wekkel/byteball-create-your-own-tokens). Waves offers simple asset creation as well (have not tried this BTW) so it is not without issues and not unique.

So what do we have:
- a lovely wallet (derived from an open source Bitcoin Wallet I understand)
- interesting tech (DAG, private assets, black bytes, chat room)
- but none of these features decisive or done 100% right

For now, only the transactional part (bytes) seems to be a really strong point. But competition in this field is fierce (newest contender is HCash) and there is every reason to think that the concept of no fees (IOTA, RaiBlocks) will win out if payment speed and reliability are solved. For the rest, there is Bitcoin and Monero/Dash.

I think some hard choices should be made.

This is byteball powerfully jerked up! And I was already thinking that he was beginning to fade. Hunter can soon cost as early as $ 800

The price is surging because distribution and speculation about listing in coincheck.
This is one of the biggest exchange in Asia and they update their API with byteball.
Right now the API disappeared but it can still be used.  Huh
https://coincheck.com/api/rate/gbyte_jpy
Anyways, great times are coming!

Yes other exchanges listing Byteball will help the price to go up a bit. But lots of it, at least short term will be pump and dump. As long as distribution isn't over and more features getting implemented and more real progress being witnessed and recognized I don't expect to happen that much with the price. However some pumpers will always make pretty interesting meanwhile to trade it beside just holding.

Thanks for sharing the information. I was not aware of this. I have never heard of CoinCheck. According to the site it is limited to Japan only. So if it will be listed there this would not be a (additional) market entry to Chinese market. Japanese market is growing as well but it is not (yet) that big as the Chinese crypto currency market. So I think the effect will be limited. Just my presumption.

We are getting closer to the next distribution round. The price surges again. Almost 25% only today. Next distribution will be on 6th September. Less than two weeks to go. I will be interesting to see how the price behaves after the distribution due to the rule changes. I personally expect that it will be more stable and less volatile.

Yes, the correct statement, there are about distributions 5 if I'm not mistaken? How it will end the price may well go up
If I got it right it depends on the merchants to a large amount now. If the devs get a lot of merchants on board and they sell a lot of stuff there's less GBYTE left for airdrops.

Every monthly distribution GBYTE consistently loses its value, btc holders who acquired byteball always dump their coins immediately. I hope this coming monthly distribution will be different when their byteball have been significantly reduced.

BTC whales already have significant % of all byteballs from previous distributions, they will continue to dump for another year probably.

That's the only part about the project I don't like. That BTC whales have advantage. I think some anti dump restrictions could be applied...

What? So you want to censor transactions of certain people just because they hold a lot of coins??
I hope you just kidding and understand how ridiculous this is.
If they wanna sell, they should always be free to do so. Whales have that advantage because either they recognised this coin from the beginning are participating since round 1, or they were able to buy or trade a huge amount of coins. Just because you couldn't do that for whatever reason doesn't mean this is unfair. Then the whole world, society and political systems are unfair. Welcome to the real world!
