I watched and commented on that goal already and I said it wasn't as crazy as the media say it was. It is a ball relatively slowly coming back and a goalkeeper hitting it in a way that makes him look very stupid, but in reality this type of goal has not happened for the first time. Frankly, it does inevitably look stupid for the goalkeeper.

But I was disappointed but St. Pauli to tie the game after that 2-0 lead. It has become some sort of meme that Hamburg messes it up to get promoted into the 1. Bundesliga wherever they can. I anticipate that meme to still be of relevance in 20 years from now. Tongue

It turns out that quite lot of people initially considered St. Pauli won because they were ahead in the first half with 2 goals and quite dominated the match, plus St. Pauli has home game advantage.
But the end of the match was only draw and this was extraordinary for Hamburger because they managed to press and make St. Pauli couldn't do much in the second half after Glatzel and Pherai scored to equalize.
Hamburger played very well in this match against St. Pauli, which is the top team even though they failed to have full points, at least Hamburger can narrow or reduce St. Pauli in increasing his lead in scoring points.

Now the top five teams only have very narrow difference in points for each position and it is certain that the shifts and competition can be very interesting.
They are fighting for first position to be promoted in the Bundesliga.

In contrast to Schalke, Hertha Berlin have a small gap to the danger zone. But it is still very dangerous with a gap of 5-points. At least they have performed better than Schalke in the last few games. Nevertheless, it will nit be easy for Hertha Berlin to get points this weekend. They will play against Elversberg, who are currently at 6th place and are keeping pace with the top gruop. Who would have thought that at the beginning of this season?

Local derby time in Hamburg. The first time that both teams are at a direct promotion position in the table. Since 2021, the home team has always won those derby. I think it will be the same this time. By the way, Hamburger SV is not good away from home. So far, they have only picked up 6 points away from home. Unfortunately, the game cannot be seen on free TV.
Schalke against Osnabrück will also be exciting. As already discussed here, both teams absolutely needs 3 points.

There is no more reason to talk about promotion into the 1. Bundesliga, but I believe that they have some severe problems within the club which will take them down for many games. It is hard to believe they would really fight against relegation, but they are conceding about 2.5 goals on average per game. It is annoying for a coach to stop problems in the defense if they are so bad.

hans peter briegel should be the new coach at kaiserslautern. together with kalli feldkamp . Grin

then these stars from kaiserslautern would know what real training means . kaiserslautern started the season really well. i thought they would be among the favourites for promotion. but the last few games were sometimes a disaster with the highlight > > defeat at home against holstein kiel with 0:3 .
that was enough for the club management and the coach can look for a new employer . which coach of the 2nd bundesliga will be sacked next?

Dirk Schuster was sacked today at 1.fc kaiserslautern. the club was forced to take this step because after a good start to the season, fck has only picked up 5 points in the second bundesliga since october.
Michael Wimmer and Enrico Maaßen, who was recently sacked in augsburg, are now being considered as successors

This is really not good news for Schalke. Drexler is very often injured and it is somehow "normal" that he cannot play for 90 minutes. Regarding to the remaining programme, Schalke normally would take 7-9 points from these games. But with their current condition, it will probably be only 1 point at most. Probably against Osnabrück.

so. the football weekend is over and we have seen 37 goals in 3 days . it has been a good matchday for the fans. and was there a big surprise this weekend ?
i think no . but there were still two three small surprises ! holstein kiel wins in kaiserslautern clearly with 3:0. that is already a small sensation.
but also the team from elversberg surprises me again and again. elversberg wins against paderborn with 4:1 . all other results can be seen here below.

and took a deserved 2:0 lead . after half time it was a very poor performance from the hamburger team .

Achieving success is not easy as it seems. I always expects winning results from competitive clubs and expects lesser from average teams. They last appeared in the Bundesliga in the 2017/18 season but after that they were still able to appear with several teams such as Stuttgart in the Bundesliga playoffs, even though they lost, at least there was some learning when they had to appear against team that were stronger than them.

Now Hamburger SV is in second place with 24 points and the first place is still occupied by St. Pauli with 27 points.
These two teams will also meet at the beginning of December, of course this could be match to determine which of the two is actually the strongest when they meet.

Of course, Düsseldorf is the favourite in this game. But Schalke has improved a bit. They have won 2 of their last 3 games in the Bundesliga. However, the defeat against Elversberg was a disaster. Nevertheless, the new coach seems to have slowly found his way into the team. But it is very unlikely that Schalke will win this game. A draw would already be a success. But it will probably be the next defeat.

I am not sure about that. The team spirit at St. Pauli is completely different to that at Hamburger SV. It is much better.
But what is interesting (as I recently read in a newspaper) is that St. Pauli perform better in odd-numbered years than in even-numbered ones. So if that will happen again, then their performance should collapse next year.
But to behonest, I see that St. Pauli is more ready for promotion this season than in the last years.
