and again there is a new coach at hamburger sv. steffen baumgart will coach the hamburger team from tomorrow . baumgart was previously coach at 1.fc köln and
left the club in december . baumgart has signed a contract until 2025. the trust in Merlin Polzin was not so great after all .
i wish steffen baumgart all the best and hope he leads the hamburg team back to the bundesliga in the next 2 years !
maybe the hsv will even make it this season  Wink

Hannover 96 : Greuther Fürth 2:1
Hertha BSC Berlin : 1 FC Magdeburg 3:2

hannover took their chance today. hannover won 2:1 against greuther fürth today and reached 3rd place. hamburger sv is now back in 4th place but has one match less.
a few weeks ago it was thought that hannover would finish the season in midfield. but thanks to some good matches the team is back at the top.
but hertha bsc berlin should not be forgotten either. only 5 points behind hsv and hannover. there is still a lot possible this season

Hannover was one of the contenders for promotion tt the beginning of thisseason. It looked very well for htem at the start. But then they had a drop in their performance. During the winter break they refocussed on their goal and are now once again one of the teams fighting for promotion. They are just one point ahead of place 3 and if I look at the current performance from Hamburger SV they will soon move up to place 3.

the hamburger sv : a new coach and new luck ? no : the hamburger sv played only 2:2 in rostock . took only one point . is that now too little for the
planned promotion in 2024 ? i think so. because holstein kiel won 4:0 in paderborn and is with 42 points on promotion place 2 .
if st.pauli wins today against braunschweig st.pauli has 45 points . 7 points more than hamburger sv . i think it will be difficult again this year for hamburger sv
to get promoted. it could be possible that hsv will be in 4th place again at the end of the season. 3rd and 4th place is the favourite position of hamburger sv in the last years . maybe they can defend this position again  Wink

Promotion to Bundesliga 1 is the goal from Hertha Berlin to. Currently at place 8 with 29 points, they will play against Magdeburg tonight. Both teams won their last game against top teams. So both will try to win this game. Should Hertha Berlin fail to win this game, it will become increasingly difficult for them to climb back up the table.

The other game between Hannover and Fürth is also about promotion. Both are close to reaching place 3. It will be an exciting game and both teams will try to win.

Kaiserslautern sacked this morning their coach Dimitrios Grammozis. Although they reached the semi-finals in the DFB Cup, they are at place 16 in the Bundesliga. Grammozis was only hired as new coach at the beginning of December 2023. The team has played 6 times since then and lost 5 of them.
But Kaiserslautern have already introduced a new coach. Friedhelm Funkel. He initially has a contract until the end of the season. Can the legend coach avoid the relegation?

kaiserslautern, hamburger sv , hansa rostock , osnabrück , braunschweig and schalke 04 . these teams have already got new coaches this season .
or have i forgotten a club ? tim walter has been sacked in 3rd place. he leads the list if you look at the table . was today the last coach sacking this season ?
we'll have to wait and see . it remains exciting who will be sacked next . maybe we'll read about the next coach sacking in the media next monday  Wink

this sacking of the coach has been expected for a long time. personally, i would have sacked the coach during the winter break and used this time to present a new coach and train with the team. i'm really curious to see who will be the new coach in hamburg. funkel, breitenreiter, labbadia ,wicky or the man with the t-shirt and the cap? baumgart ?
will it really get better after that ? we'll have to wait and see what the next few weeks bring in terms of points

TIm Walter was given one last chance during the winter. But he did not manage to improve the performance of the defence. And of course, another coach who had bought in different players would have been better. Because a new coach has to work with the existing players. But in hindsight, it is always easy to say what would have been better.

For nthe time being former assistant coach Merlin Polzin is now head coach and he will be on the bench against Rostock. Those in charge will probably watch closely how the team will play and give Polzin possibly a longer contract.

Hamburger SV has sacked his coach Tim Walter. Hamburger SV have lost three times in a row at home. And conceding eight goals in the last two home games were obviously too much for the club. He was coach for more than 2 ½ years. That was a long time. Espeacially for Hamburger SV. No new coach has been yet appointed. Steffen Baumgart, who was sacked in Köln in Bundesliga 1, is a favourite.

10 goals conceded at home in 3 matches is far too many. you can't play like that at home. 1:2 against paderborn. then 3:4 against karlsruhe and today 3:4 against hannover.
that's a catastrophe . that shouldn't happen in the 2nd bundesliga either . the hsv won't be promoted to the first bundesliga this year either.
the hsv has already conceded a total of 31 goals. eintracht braunschweig in 17th place has conceded 33 goals.only 2 more.
and yes. the discussions will come as to whether walter is still the right coach

~snip~

and there was another surprise. because st.pauli lost today in magdeburg with 0:1 . so both hamburger teams did not get any points and the gap remained the same .
now holstein kiel and fürth have the chance to get 3 points each tomorrow and oust hamburger sv from second place . both teams play tomorrow at 1:30 pm.
kiel against schalke 04 and fürth against hertha bsc berlin. these are two top matches on sunday.

Magdeburg : St.Pauli 1:0

Yes, both of them failed to get full points and the difference between the two is still the same, but Hamburger SV must accept that their steps to climb to the top will take longer because they require winning and waiting for Holstein Kiel to lose to be able to occupy the position 2nd.
This will become an increasingly heated competition and of course the three teams will both fight to maintain or reach the top position, Holstein Kiel have managed to win and of course they will be competitors for St. Pauli is in the race for the top of the standings.
Bundesliga 2 can sometimes seem to have very competitive matches, but quite often there are also matches that don't make sense, such as the top team with all the advantages they have, losing to lower middle team.
Surprises like this are normal but make many people feel disappointed, in terms of betting or in terms of liking the favorite team, St. Pauli and Hamburger SV have felt the surprise.

I will really wait to see how when the top teams meet each other, of course this will be very interesting match.

Their chance was lost and now St. Pauli is the team that is closer to maintaining its position and being promoted for next season to enter the main Bundesliga, maybe Hamburger SV will have to start again next season.
Bundesliga 2 which is the lower competition for this season is really not as amazing as the last few seasons but some surprise matches have been present here.
But I don't know whether there will really be change for Tim Walter who is the current coach of Hamburger SV.

What a game in Hamburg. We can start a separate thread about the actions from the fans. But the Hamburg team lost their second home game in a row. With 3:4 against Hannover. And two Hamburger SV players even got a red card. Hannover are now back close to the promotion places. And Hamburger SV could even drop back to place 4. The discussion about the coach will be come back.
Yes, it was an extraordinary match because they were still able to play hard to beat Hannover even though everything failed, they not only experienced an embarrassing defeat but also had to lose 2 players in the next few matches.
For some reason, Hamburger SV, which is clearly the team in second place, should be able to play well, but instead suffered a series of very disappointing defeats, they previously had the opportunity to be promoted to the main Bundesliga, but now it has changed completely.

In the city derby between Hamburger SV and St Pauli at the beginning of December there was no winner. But lots of pyrotechnics. And burning pyrotechnics is a penalty and the club has to pay for it. The DFB has now decide and Hamburger SV have to pay a fine of 92.850 euros. The DFB also mentions the number of pyrotechnics. At least 146.
I wonder always how the fans manage to smuggle pyrotechnics into the stadium.

well . it's really cold in the stadium in winter . no warm tea with rum . then the fans have to keep warm with pyrotechnics . and they don't pay for it .
the club pays for it . but it's a cool idea from the fans of both clubs  Grin

and this weekend is another little derby. the hamburger sv welcomes hannover 96 . the stadium will certainly be sold out and we will certainly see a hell of a lot of action again .
maybe not on the pitch. but guaranteed by the fans in the north and south-west stands !

slowly fc.st.pauli can prepare for the first bundesliga. they won today in a really good match against greuther fürth with 3:2 . st.pauli are now 6 points ahead of second place .

The team from St. Pauli have found the right answer after the defeat in the quarter-final of the DFB Cup. That victory is very important for their self-confidence. St Pauli are on the right track. But a lot can still happen until the end of the season. They still have to play 14 times. In any case, their defence is admirable: they have only conceded 18 goals. Exactly as many as Osnabrück have scored.

the hamburger sv is now back on place 2 in the 2.bundesliga . the hamburger won yesterday in berlin with 2:1 . the match was interrupted for 30 minutes because the fans also protested against the dfl in this match . two hamburger teams on place 1 and place 2 . after the last matchday that would be a cool situation for all hamburger fans .
that would be a huge party after the last matchday . here the statistics of the match hertha bsc : hamburger sv

and yes ...schalke 04 can still win . schalke won 1:0 against eintracht braunschweig today and thus secured an important 3 points in the fight against
relegation from the 2nd bundesliga . tonight then the match hertha bsc berlin against hamburger sv . the match starts at 8:30 pm in berlin .

A difference of 6 points in the 2. Bundesliga at this stage of the season is pretty big as most of the 2. Bundesliga teams are playing erratically and it is quite rare that they have long lasting winning streaks. No need to specifically address Hamburg in regards to winning streaks Tongue And when the end of the season is approaching, it is almost guaranteed that Hamburg will fall apart, haha...

But seriously, St. Pauli now got away from their draws. Despite the fact that they haven't lost a game this season, it didn't look as promising because they had so many draws. But now they are winning their games and I think I would put them at a 90% chance to get promoted into the 1. Bundesliga.
