A difference of 6 points in the 2. Bundesliga at this stage of the season is pretty big as most of the 2. Bundesliga teams are playing erratically and it is quite rare that they have long lasting winning streaks. No need to specifically address Hamburg in regards to winning streaks

Exactly. The defence is the problem. But they have had this problem very long. They had it already last season in Bundesliga 1 as well. If they could solve their defensive problems, they would not be in the danger zone. But they have not managed it for over 18 months.
