I was about to say that I doubt that Schalke will climb up the table significantly because of their terrible defense and then I had a look at the table and saw that almost all defenses in the 2. Bundesliga are quite bad. St. Pauli is the only team that conceded a single figure number of goals (9). There isn't really any team that is doing really well in defending. I think if Schalke wants to achieve the turnaround, it depends on how they will do until Christmas or maybe the next four games. If they mess up the next four games more or less, I think this season is over and it's only about staying in the 2. Bundesliga.

I would not rule that out. We saw that last season with St Pauli, for example. They were at 15th place at matchday 17 before the winter break and after that even played for promotion. They reorganised themselves during the winter break and had a really good run. That is why Iam not giving up Schalke just yet.
I see it the same way with Hertha Berlin.

That was a decent win for Schalke and they offered a great fight in this game and also weren't the weaker team here. It was also the first time this season that they were able to win two consecutive games and I think that alone says it all.

The 2. Bundesliga is strange in many seasons because the relegation zone is quite close to the upper part of the table and if you now look at Schalke with their 13 points, it is a 7 points gap to Holstein Kiel. I really can't imagine that they will get involved in the competition for promotion, but I guess it is still early and a winning streak could flush them forward quite a bit in the next few weeks.

Every year the motto is: The strongest 2nd League ever. And it really is. As you have  already written, there is not such a big point gap even between place 3 and place 16; just 9 points. So I think that teams like Hertha Berlin and Schalke will slowly but steadily climb up the table.
Schalke is definitely on a better path. The team seems to be slowly realising the ideas of the new coach.

that was a really exciting saturday evening match . the hamburger sv could win yesterday evening in the sold out volksparkstadion against a strong magdeburg team with 2:0 .
because pyrotechnics were ignited by magdeburg fans in the stadium the match was interrupted for a few minutes .
but the smoke only harmed the magdeburg team because they did not score yesterday . Grin Grin
the hamburger sv is back on place 2 behind the 1.fc .st.pauli

so schalke 04 can still do it . today schalke 04 won the first away game of the season in nürnberg 2:1. 3 super important points for the team from gelsenkirchen .
in another match kaiserslautern lost 0:2 at home against greuther fürth . i didn't expect that . holstein kiel drew in osnabrück and thus missed the jump to second place .
tonight the top match hsv against magdeburg . let's see if the former hsv coach tietz can take one or 3 points with his team from hamburg

there was a surprise at the start of the 12th matchday in the 2nd bundesliga, with fortuna düsseldorf losing 1-3 at home to newly promoted wehen wiesbaden. at the same time, st. pauli won 2-0 away at the other newly promoted team, elversberg, thus extending their lead in the table (now to 5 points)

Düsseldorf and St. Pauli will not play against each other tonight, but the winner will be at place 1. St. Pauli will play away against Elversberg. And Düsseldorf against Wehen. Both promoted teams have won their last two games and Elversberg has yet not lose a game. That will certainly not be games in which the winners have already been decided.

Schalke is getting hammered this season and now I am asking myself what their plan is to save the season. They are now out of the DFB Pokal and thanks to their last win have some advantage over Osnabrück and Braunschweig in the table, but I wouldn't be surprised if they remain in the relegation zone until the end of the season. This would be a very fast degeneration of what once was a well-established 1. Bundesliga club with a hardcore fanbase and decent money and a huge stadium. 62,000 visitors is the capacity. I don't think there are many teams with such a stadium in the 3. Bundesliga. Wink

Hannover was the better team in the match against Schalke. But Schalke scored the goals in the right moments. Schalkes problem last year was the defence. At the moment, we can not say how the next games will be like under the new coach and if they will be relegated at the end of the season. The next game is against Nürnberg. That will not be easy because Nürnberg is only 3 points away from place 3.

Yes I know I have seen some parts of the game, but really this win was key for them to not completely go bust so early in the season. They have the second weakest defense in the 2. Bundesliga, but some hope might still be there as they are doing ok when it comes to scoring goals. It is not fatally bad. But measured against their main objective for the season, which was the promotion into 1. Bundesliga, this season is already wrecked and I would bet pretty much everything against Schalke coming back from this and fighting for promotion. It reminds me St. Pauli last season and even they failed after this incredible run they had. I believe it was like 9 or 10 wins in a row.

and holstein kiel has once again lost its big chance to take second place. kiel lost 2-0 at home to nürnberg and kiel thus remains in fourth place with 19 points.
st. pauli is first, düsseldort is second and hamburger sv is third. next saturday the volksparkstadion will be sold out again.
magdeburg will be in hamburg. it will be a great match in the late evening at 8:30 pm.

Another great performance from St. Pauli. They were 1:0 behind and kept trying to score. Got rewarded in minute 80. After that they continued to play for victory and were rewarded for it in injury time. Great performance and showed the character of the team.

Schalke managed to win for the second time. A very important game for the team and the coach. Nevertheless, they are still at place 16.

Tomorrow evening St. Pauli and Schalke will play against each other in the DFB Cup.

at the start of the 11th matchday, there were a total of 9 goals in the two games yesterday. in game #1 of eintracht from braunschweig after the coach dismissal, there was a clear 1-4 home defeat against the currently new teable leader fortuna düsseldorf. the second game fürth against the promoted osnabrück ended with also clear 4-0 for the host

Certainly not wrong to strengthen the central defence. Braunschweig has conceded 18 goals so far. A reinforcement makes sense. Ermin Bicakcic was previously in Hoffenheim, but had not played much since his injury in September 2020. Most recently in the 2nd team from Hoffenheim.
When he played for Braunschweig in 2012-2014, his nickname was Iron Ermin.

iron-ermin...there sounds super dangerous .  Grin well then iron-ermin can show tomorrow what he can do on the pitch. because already tomorrow evening
at 6:30 pm starts the match braunschweig against düsseldorf . and then it should be possible for braunschweig to finally get 3 points again.
zero points from the last 3 games. that's too little to stay in the 2.bundesliga next season .
also tomorrow Fürth play against Osnabrück. also at 6:30 pm.

and today eintracht braunschweig signed a new defender. 33 year old ermin bicakcic will play for eintracht braunschweig with immediate effect.
bicakcic was without a club and is therefore immediately eligible to play. and bicakcic is already known in braunschweig!
under the former coach lieberknecht he already played 2 years for braunschweig. i hope for the team from braunschweig that he is a real reinforcement.
it would be a pity if braunschweig would be relegated to the 3.league again. the braunschweig fans don't deserve that.

i already hinted at it on saturday, and unfortunately it happened today. last place in the table eintr. braunschweig sacked its unsuccessful coach Jens Härtel. the 54-yo JH was only able to celebrate one victory for the club in the 11 compulsory games.

Jens Härtel was only with Braunschweig for 4 months. Based on the performances so far it is understandable that the responsible have pulled the ripcord. The team was only able to win one game. And the teams performance in the last game against Elversberg was also miserable.
For the first time Co-trainer Marc Pfitzner, who is also the coach of the U23 team, will take over. The next game is already at Friday against Düsseldorf. That will not be an easy game.

Yes, I was totally wrong with my tips. But that is how it goes. Fürth was definitely not an easy opponent and Hamburger SV had often had problems with them. But they won and that is important. But they also lost two important players. Reis and van der Brempt got injured and were probably not able to play for several weeks.

this is really not good news for the fans of hamburger sv. actually, it's a bit of a catastrophe for the club. two of the best players of the last few weeks might be out
injured for a few weeks. midfielder ludovit reis and right-back ignace van der brempt got injured so badly in the last match against greuther fürth that both
will probably be out for weeks. for me, van der brempt was one of the best players in this team. i hope that both can be replaced reasonably well.
of course, that will be difficult, because both were in top form.
