Hamburger SV have so many positive Corona cases that they have asked the DFB to postpone their match. They have no more than 15 players. The game against Aue is supposed to take place tomorrow. The request for a postponement was submitted yesterday. I hope that the DFB will decide soon, because both clubs have to plan.

but you also have to know one thing. injured players and suspended players are also part of the team.
you can read that on the DFB website.  Tim Leibold and Stephan Ambrosius are also part of the team, even though they are injured.
and Jonas Meffert is suspended, he is also part of the team. These are really strange rules that I didn't know before.

even up to now, 3.25 pm, there is still no news from the dfb. and the players from Aue are already on their way to hamburg by bus

Yes, it is strange that they take so long to make a decision. The facts are there and I don't understand why the DFB is taking so long. But apparently they have too much to do with their elections in the presidium. That seems to be more important.  Roll Eyes
In any case, Hamburg trained with 17 people today. 13 field players and 4 goalkeepers.

Heidenheim vs. Werder Bremen is the best match this weekend I guess. I Werder takes it home, they make a substantial step towards being promoted into the first Bundesliga, but Heidenheim could still preserve their chance to play a role for the first three spots should they win this match. If they lose it, I would say it is pretty much game over for them. This is make or break for them.

I don't think it will be a disaster for Schalke either. Okay, nobody knows the finances. But at Hamburger SV it was also said at that time that they would only survive financially for one year. And now it has already three...and there will probably be one more.  Roll Eyes
But at least they will get some money from the DFB Cup. Today was the draw for the semi-finals. They will play against Freiburg at home.
I do think that promotion is necessary for Schalke. Many of the structures are still from the first league, because they believed they could win promotion immediately again. If Schalke is not promoted this year, then the structure of the club will have to be adapted and downsized. In addition, the generous sponsorship agreement with Gazprom is no longer in place and the new sponsor is paying significantly less for the second league.

Schalke would still be in a very good position if they did not lose points in the last two matches. Schalke's performance was very irregular. They have consistently failed to perform well. And lost points against the weaker team. They have lost 8 matches this season. And they will not be able to qualify for the Bundesliga this season. Now they should think about next season.

The victory of Werder Bremen makes it even harder for Nürnberg, Hamburger SV and Schalke. They have to win twice themselves and hope that the other teams (Darmstadt and St. Pauli) also lose twice. That will be very close. It is not impossible and there are still 9 matchdays to go.
Well, this is a scenario that can happen, but due to the conditions that are left and few games left, both teams, both Darmtadt and St Pauli, will not want to give anything away, in fact I think that these teams will go for everything and will not let nothing in the air, that is, they will not make mistakes or be careless, because both Darmstatd and St Pauli have played very well despite the fact that some defeats have been very strong, I think that 9 games are seen a lot but they are not so many when it comes to going at the end. These positions are very hard-fought, I don't think they will deflect last.

@LUCKMCFLY I agree with you as I too don’t expect the top 3 to drop points now, and I believe that they’ll have an psychological advantage of being on the top and an added motivation to maintain their rankings. Lastly this very scenario means that we’re going to further witness more exciting football, and hence we should wager even more carefully in the remaining games.

After Schalke resigned Dimitrios Grammozis as coach on Sunday, the new coach was presented today. It is Mike Büskens and he will initially coach the team until the end of the season. This is the third time Büskens has stepped in as interim coach at Schalke.
However, he is currently in quarantine...  Roll Eyes Cheesy
Büskens is the 6th coach within 1 1/2 years. Are they doing that to imitate Hamburger SV?  Grin

Yes that was a really bad matchday for the two biggest clubs of the second Bundesliga Schalke and the Hamburger SV both are now already 6 points behind the third position which would at least bring them into the play-offs for the relegation. With only 9 more matches to go it really starts to look like already that most likely one of those two clubs and very likely even both of them will have to stay at least one year longer in the second Bundesliga, which will be huge disappointment. I guess that for the Hamburger SV it is not as bad as for Schalke because they already had to experience multiple times now how hard it is to move back up to the first Bundesliga.

in any case, it is a financially bigger disaster for schalke 04 than for hamburg if direct re-promotion does not work out. after this match day, however, it has become even more difficult for both clubs to occupy one of the first 2-3 places. bremen, darmstadt and st. pauli are having a good flow at the moment and will not give up points so easily.

I disagree regarding the financial disaster for Schalke would be bigger than for Hamburg. Look, Hamburg managed to survive three years in the second league by now. Everyone in Germany was discussing the financial disaster that you just mentioned. The thing here is that these huge clubs will always find sponsors, even sponsors that haven't been sponsoring soccer clubs before. That was the case for Hamburg I think three years ago. It will definitely be the case for Schalke as well. The real issue is that it becomes harder and harder over time if you don't get back into league 1. At some point you lose some serious credibility in terms of your promises and ambitions to make it back. Failing the first year will be ok and Schalke will be fine financially.

i think werder bremen will win today against dynamo dresden . then werder bremen will be on top again !
hsv, schalke 04 and heidenheim have lost their games. and the surprise team of the last few games...nürnberg keeps moving upwards.
there will be many interesting and very exciting weeks ahead.

You were right, Bremen won 2-1 and is now on the 1st rank again. Also Nürnberg won and we now suddenly have a pretty clear situation with Bremen, Darmstadt and St.Pauli >=5 points above Nürnberg, Hamburg and Schalke. The next weeks will show whether the league is moving towards an early decision for the Top3 or if the other teams will be able to catch up again.

I would say if we look at the table now and compare it to the one from even last week, let alone from a few weeks ago, it is the first time that it kind of starts to crystalize which teams might be top 3 in the end. With a five point gap between 3rd and 4th, we'll now might have some favorites. Hamburg looks so bad right now.

We will still have some duels between the top teams where they steal points from each other, so nothing is over yet.

somehow it was too quiet in the field of schalke 04 and to bring some action in the whole thing the club has sacked today after yesterday's home defeat against hansa rostock the coach Dimitrios Grammozis Tongue
somehow it belongs to the club (just like hamburger sv) at least once in the season to change the coach Grin

Darmstadt and St. Pauli both didn't make a mistake and won their matches this week. Werder Bremen are going to have their match against Dynamo Dresden today. And Dynamo Dresden are really one of the miserable teams this season as they are trying to cling to the 2nd Bundesliga. Werder Bremen shouldn't have any problem here at all and they should take the first place back. They are my number one contender for the title now. And they really seem like they can make it.

....
really 2 extraordinary games last night, with numerous goals and very exciting final minutes in both games.
darmstadt could still turn the game and continues to fight for promotion and holstein kiel has unfortunately not been able to equalize to get at least 1 point.

today with schalke 04, st. pauli and hamburger sv play 3 more clubs that want to stay in contact with the top of the table. schalke 04 has with hansa rostock, the supposedly weakest opponent. st. pauli (vs. karlsruhe) and hamburg (away at nürnberg), on the other hand, face clubs that will not be beaten so easily and may even win the games

Yes, the match was really interesting and not boring, it even had a tense moment until at the last minute I was finally able to score 1 more goal. The team from Darmstadt turned into happy smiles, not bitter smiles anymore.

FC St. Pauli is now at the second rank for a while, but it will change again if Welder can win the match. The point is very small so that everything can really change.
The most interesting one is the match of Numberg vs Hamburger SV, finally, Numberg could defeat Hamburger SV and now it is on the higher rank. The goal from Tim Handwerker at the last minutes really gave a big result on Numberg and make it the winner.
