With only 25 points, Borussia Dortmund are currently ranked sixth in the German Bundesliga. The team has won eight games and lost six games, which is a lot of losses compared to their normal standard of performance. The way Borussia Dortmund have been playing this season has really caught my attention, since they are usually able to hold the second or third place in the German league every season and I am really surprised by how they have been playing this season. I think the coach will be able to find out their mistakes and work on them as soon as possible.
The mistake they make is always selling their best players, so currently Dortmund is having a hard time getting wins because players who often score goals have been bought by several other big clubs, as happened to Erling Haaland, who left Dortmund. Erling Haaland is one of the best strikers from Dortmund and always gives them victories.
I think Dortmund don't do the timing very well. Before they plan selling their players it will better if they already have available players in that can Replace the player they wish to sell out. It doesn't make sense selling a player and their is no one left that can be a replacement.
exactly, what kind of team want to do that ? they barely even have competent players to try and fight with Bayern Munich and other teams, but sometimes players want to change clubs, like Erling Haaland, he for sure wanted to take that offer to join man city as soon as they made an offer to sign him, a team can't force players to stay.

Dortmund spend money in buying big talented player. Dortmund is known for breeding players to make them talented  and sell them to other club for very expensive amount of money.  Not all club ate capable of buying Dortmund players because they are too expensive to afford.
true, not all teams can do that because other teams are more focused on getting trophies than earning money from selling their star players. If Dortmund didn't sell Haaland, I'm sure they would be able to compete with Bayern and maybe even be able to compete with other teams in the Champions League, but Dortmund didn't do that because they don't like long-term investment in a player. if dortmund officially loses bellingham then I'm sure in this season, dortmund will only finish in the top 10 (not in the top 5).

This is what confirms what elders say that you don't know the value of anything until they lose it, that is what Dortmund are facing right now in Bundesliga since they sold Halland to Manchester City and not that it was a free transfer but some cash facilitated that transaction because he is yet to finish his contract, now they are struggling to maintain what they were trying to seize from Bayern Munich to be the winner of the trophies. It may take a while before the coaches may realise his mistakes and by that time, they would probably be going to the Europa Conference League which other underperforming teams always go to at the end of the season.

I don't think it's too much like that because indeed they always make a profit from selling players and of course the profits are huge.
Examples such as the purchase of Haaland which only spent 20 million but were resold at a price of 60 million, on the other hand now it's about Jude who only bought 23 million from Birmingham but now Jude's spending clause is in the range of 80-100 million. so I think the expenses they incur when buying young players are commensurate and even far exceed expectations so Dortmund has nothing to lose with that.

Dortmund wouldn't think of bringing top players into the team of course because it doesn't fit their business model. They would just target to scout and sign skillful young players to make them improve their skills much more and faster there. It has been like this for many years and Haaland is one of the greatest examples. His growing speed was so fast that it didn't take him a long time to find a huge team like Manchester City for himself. Bellingham is indeed another one waiting to be transferred by Real Madrid most probably.

Maybe after selling Bellingham in the summer they can look for a talent like him to maintain this cycle.

the news about bellingham leaving dortmund is getting louder, and when he meets chelsea, dortmund's strength will definitely disappear drastically and it will be an easy match for chelsea. dortmund are waiting for which team makes a fantastic offer and in a moment we will see which team bellingham will move to.

If Dortmund gives out Billingham before the Champions league clash with Chelsea it will not be a good outing for them.
Before the February many Chelsea players will be fit to feature in the match which will make it even more difficult for Dortmund.
Christopher Nkunku is not match fit because of the World Cup injury. Will he be fine before then?
I'm not really sure about the performance that Nkunku will give to Chelsea. while defending Francis in the world cup he was injured and will his injury not recur? chelsea seems to be spending a lot of money in the current transfer market, and hopefully potter can make good use of the chelsea squad now. if chelsea buys players then dortmund sells players, really 2 different teams, therefore I have big doubts about the performance that dortmund will produce, for this time I will not bet on dortmund.

The Champion league fixtures between Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund are scheduled to take place on 15th February 2023, and by then Borussia Dortmund may have given out their supper star midfielder; Jude Bellingham. If this happens, it will make an easier game for Porter's side. The only problem is the lack of coordination in the pattern of football porter has introduced to the team. With the absence of Jude Bellingham and the arrival of Christopher Nkunku and Enzo Fernandez, I think Chelsea has an upper hand in qualifying for the next stage.
Chelsea has more chances of winning Dortmund.  Chelsea have scored more goals and better performance than Dortmund in Champions league.  I think the game will favour Chelsea based on the results of previous games.

hmmmm that's quite interesting to talk about dortmund but just let dortmund to continue its journey in the bundesliga. we are in the bundesliga thread mate. i meant chelsea against dortmund was in another case other than bundesliga and it must belong into the ucl thread. Dortmund itself is not so strong in the bundesliga. i don't know what's gonna happening woth dortmund after it will be losing some players. The dortmund was rarely winning the trophy but it was always making bunch of money through selling its players to the another club. The fact that if dortmund will always be losing the chance to get the title if the club will always be continue its football business.
Dortmund is a team that is quite relevant, but I don't know, there has been a lot of speculation about that team, because apparently they have a business model that is quite peculiar, which is about preparing players who play at a fairly high level and then sell them, I don't know if you remember, but when Lewandowski came out, he did a great feat and put Dortmund at the top, it was crazy, Haaland too, they were players who made the difference in everything, so Dortmund has great football, but I don't know if they can stand out much more if they start to generate a more aggressive football so that it competes at least with the team that is always in first place in the table.

And apparently everything is ready for the transfer window:

Report: Borussia Dortmund set for quiet January transfer window

Quote
Borussia Dortmund are not planning to make any major purchases or sales during the January transfer window, according to reports.

The January transfer window is upon us and rumours are in full swing. There has been plenty of transfer speculation involving Borussia Dortmund in recent weeks. But the likelihood is that it will be a very quiet transfer window for the Black and Yellows.

According to Kicker, Borussia Dortmund are not expected to make any major signings this month. And the only players who could leave the club are Felix Passlack and Nico Schulz. The former will be out of contract at the end of the season, while the latter hasn’t featured yet this season and is free to leave the club.

Youssoufa Moukoko, Thomas Meunier and Emre Can have also been linked with moves away from Borussia Dortmund in recent weeks. But it is unlikely that the BVB bosses will let them leave the club in the middle of the season.

It won't happen. Big clubs don't want to sell their star players in winter transfer and don't want to buy star players with too expensive cost in winter.

Dortmund are not ready to sell Jude in January and big clubs like Chelsea have more hesitation and are not ready to approve big transfer budget for big transfer deals in January. History has its voice that Winter transfers usually bring bad results.
It is obvious that Chelsea is definitely better, but that doesn't mean that Chelsea will be the winner, they are not too far apart enough to say that there will be a clear winner. I believe that in a good day Dortmund could play better, so the winner will be decided on how they will play. Chelsea could play worse than they usually play and lose this game as well, or Dortmund could play better than usual and win this one.

There is also two games which means that even in one game if things go right, in another it could go wrong and suddenly you could lose as well. Nobody is saying Dortmund is the favourites, but it is not a huge difference between the clubs neither.

A lot of football teams and german clubs selling there good players at some point , specially the small ones mostly.
Its a normal thing as this Clubs cant handle the salary for this players if they are very good and getting even more better.
Dortmund was just unlucky in the current german League and first half of the season with a lot of injured and missing players.
I really hope that they will come back on the table in the second half of the season.

I know that a lot of smaller clubs does end up selling their players. But there is a big difference between a small club from Bundesliga and Dortmund. Dortmund is certainly not a very small club. Or at least that’s what I think. The business that they are doing for quite a long time, should be able to give them a lot of money by now. And they should be able to bring in a lot of good players that they want in the team.

I do not think that Dortmund was unlucky in any matches. I would like to rephrase that, I do not think that Dortmund would have been unlucky in any match. If they actually cared about winning any title. The problem is they do not care. I do not have any high hopes for them going into the second half of the season.

I want to see the response from Borussia Dortmund's management after they haven't performed well so far. They looked down and everyone noticed it. There is still plenty of time for Borussia Dortmund to improve their performance, which is currently unable to appear very promising, even as you said they are still in an unstable state and it is easy for them to drop points. 15 matches with 6 defeats is bad for them.
Edin Terzi must think of a good strategy to improve the team he has and get another win, because if Dortmund lose again in the next game, it will embarrass Dortmund. Being in 6th place from the top of the standings makes Dortmund have to get back up, and by taking advantage of the next game against Augsburg, Dortmund should be able to get a win.
against Augsburg, I believe there is nothing to complain about. although the results obtained from several friendly matches were not satisfactory. this is a warm-up for the team. and Dortmund should be able to see the shortcomings of the current squad. the game against Augsburg, I believe 3 points for Dortmund.

With only 25 points, Borussia Dortmund are currently ranked sixth in the German Bundesliga. Yes, that is right. The teams are very close in terms of points.
I hope the top of the table could be as close as that, the way the season started i thought that we may see another bundesliga champion that is not bayern munich, but sadly they are back on top of the table. Union Berlin were on top for a few weeks, but right now they are 5th, i never thought Union Berlin would win the bundesliga though, the team i expect should be competing with bayern munich is Dortmund, but they are 6th, 9 points behind bayern munich, i think it is over for them. While teams like Freiburg and Leipzig that are a bit close to bayern munich cannot compete with them for the title. I'm sorry, all of us that want a new bundesliga champion are about to be disappointed once again.

The top 16 in the UCL is not a coincidence all the clubs that have qualified must have done a tough job getting to that point, so there is no need to underestimate Dortmund I think also the Champions league event is still a long way off, so it is difficult to predict early on, I am worried that Chelsea will get a surprise from Dortmund  Grin
From my point of view, Chelsea got a very balanced opponent in the Champions League in the round of 16, so nothing will be underestimated here because Dortmund is also not in a bad condition so it is very possible that Dortmund can surprise the Champions League when they face Chelsea. However, considering that the matches in the Champions League are still a long time away and this discussion is more suitable for the topic of the Champions League, not in the Bundesliga.

Schalke are the only team worse than Bochum in the bundesliga this season, and things are not looking good for the both of them. But the bundesliga this season is so tight, Bochum in 17th position are on 13 points, while Mainz up in 10th position are on 19 points, just 6 points gap, everything is all so close and positions can change very fast, maybe even Bochum has a good chance of escaping relegation.

Yes, that is right. The teams are very close in terms of points. When the first games start again we will see who continues to play against relegation and which teams do not. At the moment it does not look good for Schalke and Bochum. But the long break will certainly help one team more than the other. So I am curious to see who will cope better with the long break.
