That could be a blow to the proposed resumption, I also read that there would be a second round of tests to be carried out this week, should there be another series of positive cases, then I'm afraid they might decide take another chill pill towards resuming the league on the 23rd of May.

The German DFL has just announced that there were ten positive Covid-19 tests in the 1. Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga. More than 1724 persons were tested (players, trainers, staff etc.). Three persons were tested positive at 1. FC Köln. The DFL made no statements about at which clubs the remaining seven cases occurred.

The German magazine Kicker is reporting on the topic:

Quote
DFL meldet zehn Corona-Fälle in 1. und 2. Bundesliga

I wonder how the players of Team A would react when a player of Team B tested positive for Covid-19 and is now in quarantine.  Personally, I would not know if I would play the game with full mental capacity.

What if for example 2 teams will be stopped when they are missing 3 games, what they will do then?

That is the main issue imo. Once you have one single person testing positive, this whole construct will implode imo, because of this rather long incubation period and the possibility of being asymptomatic with this virus. You only have like 6 weeks at best to finish the season and if one or more teams have to go into quarantine for 14 days, this won't play out no more.

It could end in an embarrassing disaster for the DFL, but still worth to give it a shot imo, if certain institutions insist on contracts being fulfilled at any costs.

A solution where all involved parties (clubs, sponsors, TV broadcasters, government) could find a mutual agreement would still be the most reasonable one, but what can you do, money makes the world go round.

Smart is not enough, there must be skills
The German Teams Werder Bremen as Frankfurt and Leverkusen announced that there is no infected players on there teams .
Also at Dortmund it looks like there is nobody infected. The 2-3 players from Colonge that are positive got no contact to the other team members they have written.
Also there is today a second test on this teams and lets hope that there is no new infection.

It means that all teams must make a statement about the test about Covid-19 not to be infected so that this can start the match, if all is negative then I'm sure the match will be speeded up and started immediately.

I hope that the current test phase is not infected and all is well.

Let's see the test results later.

The problem will be when a player getting infected and it effects the playing against other teams.
This would bring some chaos to the whole league again , dont know how they would handle all that.
Or what there Emergency plan is when some kind of things happens , crazy times .

This is the same doubt I have if 1 player will be find infected they need to put in quarantine 2 teams of players plus every single person near them.

This should be different from the 1st time we got cases since they now should use blood tests and they can do quickly probably by the team themself for a very cheap price (for them).

So i guess all eyes are on the 6th of May and waiting for the outcome on that !
Fingers crossed they doing the right thing and that in the mean time the things get better with the pandemic.
If they choose to start there will be some real hectic goes on to manage all things for the 22th or 29th to start the League.

The first matches that are going to be scheduled would be very crucial.
If the hygiene rules are going to be kept then we are going to see a normal Bundesliga championship to happen till it ends. If not, we are going to see another postponement and if a second one happens this will be possibly the cancellation of the league.

Then at the latest when a player, coach, physiotherapist or anyone else from the Bundesliga environment gets infected and falls so ill that he has to go to intensive care, perhaps fighting for his life, there will be a completely different discussion. Surely the players will also consider then whether they will continue to play or not.

I saw the news of 3 positive players and I'm shocked that the training session will continue for the teammates of Cologne.

The final decision for a continuation of the season will be taken on the 06th of May.

Now that the lockdown is withdrawn the media is going to start saying that it is not such a huge incident of those people who got infected.
They will broadcast it as something normal and like something that it was eminent to happen.
The lockdown is decided to be stopped and there is no way back at least in the near future.

I still see no problem in resuming play with proper testing,
What about teams, just like cologne that have players infected by the virus, I know the players can be replaced, but it will obviously reduce the teams full strength, and this players will not perform to the best of their ability when they know their fellow teammates are battling for their lives with the virus.

You should put the full quote then, to not put it out of context Wink Because later I wrote:

So you will have some chaos and at some point this is unmanageable anymore schedule-wise and some teams have unfair advantage/disadvantage.

I see no problem health-wise with Bundesliga starting again. People get infected all over the place with this virus - these Cologne players, or at least one of them, got it outside of football as well. Playing football is their job and other people start working again as well. I give you, that football players can't protect themselves properly on the pitch, but otoh these are all young people with no underlying conditions, where the risk of severe cases is small. And they get tested frequently; not like average Joe, who only gets tested if showing symptoms.

I didn't hear any Bundesliga player saying "I am too scared to play", so they are fine with taking this additional small risk too, which really is an important aspect imo. You can't force players to play under these conditions, if they don't want to.

Non-health-wise there is of course a problem, if a player gets infected. I doubt there will be no incidents during these 9 rounds remaining. And this will cause chaos with the schedule and the things you and I mentioned fair-play wise.

I guess those plans just got a setback, because three players of Cologne tested positive now, while being asymptomatic.
This will of course play in the hands of those people that are against restarting the Bundesliga and make the governments and authorities think twice. I still see no problem in resuming play with proper testing,

I don't even know what I want anymore, if it's for the league to resume or they wait it out for some more time.
The final decision for a continuation of the season will be taken on the 06th of May.
That's only just a few days away, I'm very sure every detail will be put into consideration. Any decision that's reached will be fine with me, because i'm sure players safety will be considered first before anything else.

In the end, standings as of now will probably be the result of 2019/2020 season.

There really must be loads of untested people carrying this virus without knowing.......

The German newspaper Kicker just reported that the 22nd or the 29th could be "realistic starting dates" to resume the Bundesliga.

The decision as to when professional football in Germany could start again will be taken on May 6th. If there's green light from the government, May 22nd or May 29th would be realistic starting dates in order to give the clubs adequate preparation time in team training [Kicker]

The dates sound reasonable to me, let's see what happens.
As its all going I am feeling we will back in ground on 29th May as this is good time for all now taking some more time is realistic as its still risky to do all in very quick session right now.

i do not see this as something that is viable for any team to do, you know you will easily recognize whose fans are they, Bayern or 1860 or Augsburg in fact, (..)

Hmm, so when you see a person, who by ID resides in Munich and wears a Bayern jersey, you can tell that this person is in fact 1860 or Augsburg fan ? I couldn't and I doubt police officers could do.

did not say that i could say, i say that police officers can check that easily, and would not cancel the game/season due to that, without even checking their previous history of visiting matches and possession of season cards or similar, it is easy to guess that hard core fans will protest in front of the stadium, not crowd that want to visit the Allianz arena for the first time Wink

it is a lot of money to be left without check who those fans were, if anything similar to this happens, and just register the game 0:2 (or 0:3, as usual)
