This season is quite different from the other, Leverkusen will struggled this season, already recorded their first defeats this season against RB Leipzig. Who to blame for their shocking defeats? Ofcourse nobody because losing is generally accepted everywhere. Success is acknowledged and accomplish when they've the best leading squad and the Bundesliga side, Bayer Leverkusen will not relent. Xabi Alonso is the main reason Bayer Leverkusen are in their best form till date. There's always a possibility for any elite club to bounce to winning, it's regular stats and offering for main tasks.
However, it is not easy to maintain an unbeaten result throughout the season and it must be underlined here that this defeat will not make them extinguish. On the contrary, Leverkusen will be crazier for this season and we will just wait and see what they will do after getting a defeat at the beginning of this season.

If it were not for Xabi Alonso, Leverkusen would definitely be struggling and that is why everyone wants him to survive. Not only that, his desire to survive is directly supported by Xabi Alonso himself so that fans feel safe that their favorite team is led by the right coach. However, there are doubts, for example, if this season he feels that he has carried out his full responsibilities and cannot provide anything better, then it is certain that Xabi Alonso will be open to other offers.

We have to accept the reality that Leverkusen are not winning the Bundeslisga for two consecutive seasons,

Can you just tell me what reality it is you are talking about? If you can see the future please prove it to us and provide us more information.  Grin

They had a great performance last season. They scored some very important last minute goals in some games. So, they were actually as lucky as they were very good last season. I have no doubt that they will be very good again this season, but I don't think they will have the same luck. Indeed, their 35-game unbeaten streak came to an end against Leipzig in the league. I think we will witness a better rivalry this season. Both Bayer Leverkusen and Bayer Munich will be more predictable teams...

Of course last season was a very surprising season for Bundesliga fans, we have seen how the greatness of the middle team at that time showed its best quality by dominating the league without experiencing a single defeat, and honestly I will say again that it was a surprising performance from a team that was originally ordinary.
Last season most of us predicted that this season would definitely be more interesting to watch because the competition would definitely be even fiercer and I also don't know whether Leverkusen will be able to repeat the success like when they were last season or not,
but what is certain is that to return to setting an unbeaten record throughout the match I think for now it is very unlikely, but for the title problem at the end of the season it is still possible for them to get it again, and I am quite curious about what Bayern Munich will do after failing to defend the title last season.

We have to accept the reality that Leverkusen are not winning the Bundeslisga for two consecutive seasons, they might turn up to be among strong contender for the title but they are not yet showing that trait of being able to lift the trophy. Previous season was really a good one for them, even on their imperfection they still turn out with the late minute winner and considering they can't have same luck on this new season. I probably would stick by Bayern Munich as the winner of this season Bundeslisga title, they came back strong and more reliant to defeat as much teams just to secure the space back to holding their eleven years consecutive Bundeslisga title.

Accept the reality? What reality Mr. Crystal Ball? Lol, 2 games played and now I am wondering whether you are trolling people or whether you know more than anybody else? The season is literally a little more than 1 week going on and you say that "we have to accept the reality". I love when I see experts like you posting nonsense like that. It's immediately the moment where one can tell that you are a deep-minded, thorough thinker who knows what he is saying. Keep it up!
It sounds ridiculous and condescending to Leverkusen, as if the Bundesliga is over. Hey, we've only just started, no club was as consistent as Leverkusen last season. Bayern Munich rivals are struggling to get back into the competition area which is still not promising. So it's more fun to talk about the results of the game than to summarize the whole competition. We've only played 2% of the 38 games left.
It seems he still hasn't accepted the results of last season, the fact that Leverkusen will continue to be Bayern Munich biggest obstacle for the next 1 season.

There are many things that need to be evaluated by Xabi Alonso, especially for the defense position because this weakness is the most crucial point. The strategy can be used like last season, but there must be a few changes so that the opponent cannot easily read it. The international break is a point of evaluation that needs to be improved and if not many Leverkusen players strengthen the national team, it will make it easier for Xabi Alonso to see the weak position. Against Hoffenheim, they really have to get full points because if they find unsatisfactory results again, Leverkusen will lose the opportunity to be in the top five of the standings.
No, Xabi doesn't need to do much, believe me if the defeat in yesterday's match was just a small mistake when Xabi used the wrong goalkeeper. I don't know whether my opinion is right or not but Leverkusen still has a very good appearance from the attack line and even the defense line is still very stable. However, I support your opinion if even though last season was successful using what Xabi used, it would be better to still have other alternative strategies so that they cannot be defeated by opponents in the next match.
In the upcoming match Leverkusen doesn't need to try too hard to get 3 points but remains consistent without being defeated even though it's only 1 point but that's much better than losing points. Against Hoffenheim should be an easy task for Xabi.
If in the defeat against Leipzig with score of 2 - 3 it is true that this defeat was the goalkeeper fault then that is true because Leverkusen managed to take the lead with 2 goal in the first half.
After Leverkusen advantage showed Leipzig got their first goal and this was Matej Kovar fault who was unable to read the direction of the ball from Kevin Kampl header and then the second goal was obtained with kick from Lois Openda who directed the ball and managed to enter Matej Kovar leg gap until Leipzig third goal was obtained again thanks to Lois Openda from kick outside the penalty box, but speaking of which, if there was no offside, Leverkusen might have lost by conceding 4 goal.
But seeing how Matej Kovar plays with Leverkusen also shows that he is not the main goalkeeper considering that last season he only played lot in the Europa League and for the Bundesliga itself Matej Kovar often sat on the bench and became second-string player.
I prefer to see Lukas Hradecky who became Leverkusen goalkeeper and his performance for last season was really amazing, I think he was one of the best goalkeepers in the Bundesliga for last season.
For the next match, Leverkusen remains the favorite and I sure Leverkusen can win to increase their points tally.

It is only two weeks passed and it is very difficult to make assumptions on who will do what this season. Maybe it wasn't the best start for Leverkusen but I don't see any problem there. In time the players can get better in defense and be more aware against such comebacks. On the other hand I liked the way Kompany's Bayern Munich started the Bundesliga.  Smiley  He has a reference from Guardiola so I would like to see a good work this season.

Yes, that's right, the Bundesliga has just started, it's not the right time to determine which club will win the Bundesliga this season, it could be Leverkusen who defends the title or maybe Munich can win it back. Or Borussia Dortmund who will give a surprise, we'll just have to wait until the end of the season. What is clear is that the Bundesliga is now more competitive, it looks like the participants are getting stronger, even the weak teams show their respective advantages, unlike the last few seasons where Munich always dominated, guessing who will come out as champions is not too difficult.

I totally agree you about Bayer Leverkusen great season. They only lost one game which was final against Atalanta. That shows how well they played all season. Their coach Xabi Alonso is very smart and figured out how to make his team play their best. He got most out of his players. We do not know if they can do it again this season but last season they worked hard made smart decisions and played well. Alonso is great coach because he can make plan and make it work. Bayer Leverkusen success shows what can happen when you have talented players work hard and make smart decisions.

It's TWO games into the season. TWO. We're not hitting the panic button yet. Yeah, Leipzig exposed some weaknesses. 5 goals conceded in two matches? That's a problem. But Xabi Alonso isn't some rookie coach. He turned this team around last season. This isn't a crisis, it's a wake-up call. The defense needs work, plain and simple. But the attack? The midfield? They're clicking. This international break is a gift. Time to tighten up at the back

Leverkusen's got the talent. They've got the coach. They've got the hunger. This ain't over. Not by a long shot

He might mean the last season was one of the case where a unpredictable team performs very well to win the league in a single season and fail to perform on the exact level on subsequent seasons. This is a seen pattern with many of the teams as always the better established and rich teams prevails in long run and smaller teams just take one title here and there.Like how Wolfsburg won the season in 2008-9 and since is an average team.
More recent example is Leicester City in premier league where they won the 2015-16 season while were relegated for 2023-24 season.

Bayer Leverkusen did not make many changes for this season so we can conclude that their strength is still as strong as last season and regarding their defeat last weekend against Leipzig I think it is not necessary to be considered too exaggerated because overall Bayer Leverkusen has shown quite good performance in the match but unfortunately they were unlucky so they had to accept their first defeat this season so quickly.

Xabi Alonso has proven that he has been quite successful in lifting the performance of the Bayer Leverkusen team since his arrival, so for this season too, no one doubts Xabi Alonso to be able to make the Bayer Leverkusen team remain strong this season.

Bayer Leverkusen's defeat against Leipzig was good for Xabi Alonso. Because Bayer needed to bounce back at some point. It reminded Xabi that he needs to focus on higher goals. Leverkusen showed signs in the Super Cup and in the league opener at Gladbach that their attention to detail is not what it used to be. Leverkusen had been showing bad signs defensively for some time.

Xabi Alonso will make the most of the break and learn from the defeat against Leipzig. In my opinion, Leverkusen's defeat was good and brought them back to life. This season is very important for Leverkusen to stay in the Bundesliga championship member. Because if they become champions this year, they will make it a continuity.

I agree with you. Leverkusen needed such a defeat. Leverkusen has not lost a match in the Bundesliga for a year and a half. Leverkusen won the first match this season as well. But their performance was a bit slow. The team failed to win against Leipzig in the second match. In both matches this season we have seen poor defense from Leverkusen. Leverkusen conceded 5 goals in two matches. From this it can be assumed that Leverkusen's defense is quite weak this season. The opponent is able to easily break the defense of Leverkusen.

The international break will give Xabi Alonso enough time to fix the squad's weaknesses. Xabi Alonso definitely needs to strengthen his squad's defense. Leverkusen's attacking players are capable of performing well. I think if the defense is strong then we will see more stable gameplay from Leverkusen's midfield and attacking players as well.

The defeat that was greeted with the international break will be an opportunity for Xabi Alonso to evaluate the weaknesses of his squad, which at first glance seemed to lie in their defense which was easy to concede. In addition, the strategy used last season must be updated, because it has been read by the opponent. Leverkusen still look collective, but their intensity and ambition in the game have indeed decreased a little. With the same manager and players, Leverkusen can create a positive trend again in the next match against Hoffenheim.

I stand with Palestine.
Bayer Leverkusen only defeat of last season was in the UEFA Europa League final against Atalanta and there's no way a team would be so lucky to almost finish an entire season unbeaten. Xabi Alonso found the best tactical approach that brought out the best from his team players and that was what made them stand out. Wether they manage to repeat such impressiveness this new season or not, it doesn't change the fact that hard-work, tactical masterpiece and ability helped them achieve everything they did achieve last season.

It was evident that, with Xabi Alonso and Bayern Leverkusen, last season was not just about luck. When for 51 games in a row a team keeps on showing good performances, it is no more a fluke but the resultant effect of a coach’s acumen, tactics, and strategy. Alonso has already proved himself that he can guide his side to perform on different fronts. So, if he continues to do so, there is no reason why they cannot make an impact in the Champions League as well though the path is far from easy.

In the Bundesliga, they know their opponents better. While in the Champions League the challenges are greater. Because of a different level of competition. Alonso needs to maintain his team’s focus and work hard to be able to compete in these two major competitions. The key to their success does not lie in their individuality, rather it does not only lie in their individuality but also it lies in the teamwork and the coach’s clever strategy.

It's quite strange to see how to decide that the club is not capable of winning or not winning the league from just 2 matches, to be honest, it's too early to judge. Although whoever wins in the end, we just need to see how it goes, because this is only 2 matches. We might see the results when the middle of the season, it will start to show which one has the highest potential. That's just sometimes still often changes.

There are still 32 matches left, and clubs like Bayern Munich, Leverkusen, Dortmund, Heidenheim, Leipzig, and others, are still ongoing to race the top standing to the end. Let's enjoy the matches without judging too early and underestimating others. Unless we are a big fan of the club, then it is very natural to support our favorite club to become champions no matter what the conditions.

They screaed to stand against Leverkusen because they saw the perfect performance from this team and the performance of Leverkusen during the last season was well enough which made this team unbeaten during the games they had in the Bundesliga. However they recently lost a game because of a comeback but still, Leverkusen is scary for any team in the Bundesliga.
I think Leverkusen fans also expect to see much better performance from them because they still want to see their team win the title at the end of the season.
Been scared of Leverkusen isn't what I see, rather I see the lack of confidence in that they feel already they aren't a good matchup because of the records Leverkusen has got but loosing to Leipzig might literally reduce the threat they be posing in the bundesliga all this while because firstly it's now clear they can maintain an unbeaten record again this season so they are not actually undefeatable if only their opponents are mindful to challenge them well enough. Somehow I'm beginning to see signs that Leverkusen may not be the only strong contender for the title race, they are definitely going to have serious contenders in this season and they may likely loose the title so their fans should just keep their expectations realistic enough and they will be good.

It's important to realize that at the moment (this season) the burden on Leverkusen is much greater because apart from them being the defending champions, our expectations because they were the club that set an exciting record of being unbeaten for more than 50 games last season made us set our expectations and hopes too high for Bayern so this will also definitely affect Xabi because his focus is not on playing well again but they are trying to repeat last season's glory in a similar way. Moreover, we can see that when they lose, the criticism will always be far greater than the praise which will certainly add a big mental burden to the players because their pressure is too high.

It is difficult to change expectations like this but in the end it does not mean that Leverkusen also does not have the opportunity to make expectations a reality because the opportunity still remains.
