To a more German Bundesliga related issue, do you think Bayer Leverkusen will be able to retain the league title this season or will the bookmakers' favorite Bayern Munich win the German league at the end of the season

Clubs and teams like Real Madrid are always the favorite in every game they playing in the league or in the international Cups.
Nobody was thinking that Frankfurt will win back 2 years ago in Barcelona in the European League and they did it.
But this is to much off topic here as we here in the German League thread , maybe we can discuss this in the other thread where it belongs.

Leverkusen would have had a chance if they had only been focused on the domestic league. However, since they have shifted their focus to the Champions League, they are unable to devote the same amount of energy to their home league, which would have resulted in significant differences. In my opinion, Leverkusen lacks the energy necessary to maintain a strong lead in either league, and the Champions League is worse because of the level of pressure they will face to effectively manage both. Alonso might be in a tight condition this time around we know Alonso might be the one with the brains but this is about capacity and a lot of clubs are looking more capable this season, it will look more challenging.


Bayern Munich are the one people are even expecting more from because of their new coach and they are positive that with their new coach. Will be at their rescue and they will be able to get back at their feet.
Kompany looks like still does not look like who is going to win the Bundesliga for now their are more reason to this his new and this is first attempt of leading bayern and this might be a season for him to fix and Improve the club that should be like the starting point for him, to focus on winning the trophy might just look like a set back for him. Everything is boiling down to the point that if they don't choose now just because they want to impress people and when they start that way they won't be able to keep up that show for a while but the outcome won't end well.

I don’t understand why people are so hopeless. Only two matches have been played. And already keep saying that Leverkusen might not have a chance to win the Bundesliga? That is really unbelievable.

By the way, I will definitely say that Leverkusen might actually not be able to play as well as they have done in the last season. Because now the other coaches know what to expect from that team. So they are obviously going to be ready for Leverkusen. But just because they have not been able to win both the starting two matches of the season, does not mean they will not be able to win the Bundesliga title. The first two matches of the season does not prove anything.

Leverkusen are one of the strongest team in Europe and whenever you mention the likes of Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester City e.t.c, you have to mention the Bayer Leverkusen team because they have done what no team can do in a long while. Competing in the champions league will give them a new challenge and if Alonso don't manage this team properly like he did last season, I don't see them doing well because injuries can spoil the plans of the team.

I would not judge the team by its past merits, there are many examples when the team starts playing differently in the new season, of course Alonso tried to do everything possible to keep the team in the same squad, and even tried to strengthen it in the off-season, but if we remember the Europa League final, we can see that even in its best times Bayer was not ideal, and the Champions League is a tournament of a different level, I suspect that Bayer's results there may be worse, which by the way may also affect the team.

The opportunity is not just open to Bayer Leverkusen only but to every other teams in the league which is what is raising the dust about Leverkusen going through an early defeat for a team that had an unbeaten  streak all throughout the last season. Fair enough to say that they may not be able to repeat an unbeaten streak as it were but basically the early defeat just at the start of the season can affect their winning mentality.

However, I do agree with you that the season is still fresh and there's a much window of opportunity for the Xabi Alonso side to restrategize, not putting their guard down in order that they may prevail because it's really a challenging season as other teams ain't smiling which we will be seeing many surprising results this season in the Bundesliga.

I think it's too early to say that Leverkusen are in bad form at the start of the season just because they lost against Leipzig last weekend, it can't be used as a reference because overall Leverkusen have played well, it's just that they were a little unlucky to have to admit their first defeat of the season so quickly.
