The opportunity to defend the title is still possible as I said above. This transfer window will be an opportunity for Alonso to convince Leverkusen's management to get new ammunition. If the striker position has been an obstacle so far, then they need to bring in a striker. If their defense has been a weak point, then Alonso needs to convince the management to bring in a defender.
I still feel confident that Leverkusen can be the toughest competitor for Bayern Munich. Alonso so far we still can't say that he is not successful with Leverkusen, it's just that he is preparing something that can shift Bayern at the top of the standings.
Yes of course the opportunity is still very wide for Leverkusen and it is possible that there will be a surprise at the end of the season because the new match has been played 6 times, other clubs will also take part in the trophy hunt this season, the most important thing is that those who compete can maintain their consistency in every match.
In the upcoming transfer market, Xabi can add ammunition because I see that for now their strength is lacking to compete with Bayern Munich, especially since the schedule they are currently undergoing is very busy, their focus will be divided into following the UCL and Bundesliga.
This season, Xabi Alonso is fighting harder.

Bayern Leverkusen have been showing competitiveness in the Bundesliga even when they had a little flop but they stood strong with determination though defending the title may seem difficult since Bayern Munich is also trying to maintain a consistent form at the top of the Bundesliga table but nevertheless, Bayern Leverkusen is doing well but i feel where Leverkusen needs more concentration is in the defense so by next transfer window Xabi Alonso should be able to contract some vibrant defenders to the squad if they still want to maintain a competitive ground against Munich. Though i feel the Champions leagues games might be a distraction to Leverkusen as against their quest for another Bundesliga title this season but let's watch how the season goes.

Xabi Alonso still uses the same gameplay as last season. where ball control in planning their attacks to encircle the opponent's defense. that makes Leverkusen's defense line also rise and of course has gaps that can be exploited by their opponents.
The game strategy was quite effective last season, but now all teams are more daring to play by utilizing fast counterattacks. when Leverkusen's defenders are unable to stop the ball when their attack fails. then it will end badly with a goal conceded.
6 matches, 16 goals scored, and 12 conceded. the competition is still long, but I think Leverkusen can still compete for the trophy. the points difference with Munich is not big. it can be caught up.

Bayer hasn't shown the same dominance as last year, but they are still in the leading group and haven't lost their chances to defend the title. You don't think Leipzig will become champions, do you? Probably Bayern? But Bayern has only scored 2 points in 3 serious games (Bayer, Aston Villa, Eintracht). If they have problems in games with strong opponents, then perhaps they will change places with Bayer.

Those 3 matches are quite difficult. Eintracht and Leverkusen are not easy teams to beat. Even if Leipzing met them, it might also be difficult. The league is a lot of matches there will always be surprises, those who are able to get maximum points and perform steadily they will certainly be the champions. Until this week, only Munich and Leipzig have never lost. Their points are also the same so, a defeat or a draw will make them shift. Even Eintrach could have displaced Bayern and Leipzig.

Yes, it is still a possible thing to happen, or what I mean is even though as we see that this season Leverkusen is not as fierce as last season and is a bit late but that doesn't mean they can't defend the title they won last season, the possibility or opportunity and chance will always be wide open, because in addition now the season can be said to be still quite long, and the most important thing is yes Xabi Alonso must be able to maintain their performance, don't let there be a decline in performance, and I think like Xabi Alonso is planning something, it seems like they will play more aggressively when it's in the middle or at the end of the season when some other teams are tired or run out of strategy and tactics, but of course in the end this is nothing more than just an opinion.

Yes I also believe that, or I mean I also believe that Xabi Alonso knows about what is best to do especially adding new ammunition that he thinks is right to increase sharpness in the front line or improve defense in the back line, if he can already understand an indication that this season several teams have improved especially Bayern Munich who returned to their previous performance and Frankfurt as a newcomer then the idea of adding ammunition should be done. Although basically now we have not seen significant aggressiveness from Leverkusen like when last season they ran a season without losing but of course it does not mean they are no longer one of the strongest competitors for Bayern Munich, I really look forward to their aggressiveness like last season because as we see that now Bayern Munich seems to have returned to their extraordinary performance, so if Leverkusen also returns to their sharpness like in the previous season then of course the competition at the top will be more exciting.

So far Bayer do not look like those who can become the main rival for Bayern, two draws out of six games and a defeat is too big a loss of points. Bayer is not as good this season as in the previous one and the loss of points with a team like Holstein shows this well. And the next game they will play with Eintracht, the opponent is very difficult and can take points from Bayer, but they do not have the best defense and if Alonso takes advantage of this, he can win.
The transfer market is actually a moment for Alonso to continue to strengthen the Leverkusen squad, but I think sometimes the transfer market is also often a nightmare for a squad if many of their players leave, in the transfer market last summer, Alonso managed to retain all his main players and bring in some new players, so indeed the stability of their team this season is still well maintained after their very impressive performance last season, So far they are still consistent in every game even though they have to get their first defeat from Leipzig, but I think that will not reduce their chances of being able to defend the title, because after all, last season experience can be a strong foundation to compete in the Champions League and also the Bundesliga this season, in addition to that with the right strategy and also Alonso ability to formulate strategies, of course make they can shift Bayern from top of the standings later, Sooner or later Munich will inevitably slip because indeed the schedule and also the storm of injuries that hit them at the moment and Leverkusen must be ready to take advantage of that for their advantage.

Leverkusen's success last season in winning the Bundesliga title and breaking Bayern Munich's dominance was the beginning of everything so that this season it is already clear that the Bundesliga competition is much fiercer with the development of several teams competing at the top.
However, for Leverkusen I am very pessimistic this season, it is still early in the season but we can see that their strength has not developed and is not even better than last season so in my opinion their percentage of being able to defend the title is very small.

I understand where you're coming from. I, too, started having doubts about whether they are capable of defending the title.
We all know the previous season was exceptional and impossible to replicate, but I still expected a better start to this season. You could justify losing points to Leipzig or Bayern, as they are the top teams, but the latest draw at home against Holstein Kiel, a team from the very bottom of the table, was particularly disappointing.

On a positive note, Leverkusen is doing really well in the Champions League, with 2 wins in the first 2 rounds (against Feyenoord and Milan). I still believe they have what it takes to defend the Bundesliga title if they manage to stabilise their performance at a high level.

Come on guys, you are are all talking like Leverkusen is the big power house in German football now. You do know that prior to last season Leverkusen had 2 titles right? They only won the UEFA cup in 1988 and the German cup in 1993. Last seasons success in Bundesliga and the cup basically doubled the number of titles they have.
So expecting them to perform on the same level as last year forever is not really the right season to do. See what happened to Leicester City in England for example. They had a miracle season in 15/16 and last season they were even in the 2nd tier in England but now came back to the premier league.
So, unless you work hard, get lucky with players and the competition doesn't stack of like crazy it's hard to maintain this kind of level. That's why expectations should also be adjusted accordingly I think.

Totally agreed with you. We have all seen the way Leverkusen fans celebrated their first ever Bundesliga title. They were so hungry for that.  Grin  Xabi Alonso must have already become a legend for them haha.

I don't say Leverkusen were never close to winning their first title here. There were a couple of times but they failed in the last moments all the time as far as I can remember.

Now they have a good squad. Xabi Alonso achieved a huge success for this team in his first proper year of his manager career. However maintaining this won't be easy just like we are witnessing recently.

Maybe Leverkusen slowed down at the beginning and picked up speed in the second half of the season. I think that's in line with their current situation with points not far from the top ranked Bundesliga teams. As long as their performance doesn't decline or they can defend well, there's no way they can't pick up speed to compete for the title at the end of the season.
My other guess is that when the transfer market reopens, they can add strength by bringing in some ammunition to strengthen what I said.

The Bundesliga is now getting tighter, we don't see what used to happen in previous seasons where Bayern Munich could comfortably dominate the Bundesliga, but this season looks a little different, this is something we really expected. I don't know, but I feel that Leverkusen's success in winning the Bundesliga last season was a big motivation for other teams that they could do the same, that's what ultimately made the competition tighter as we see now.
But this is just the beginning of the season which I hope that this will happen until the end of the season. Because one of the problems that is often faced by several teams is that they decline when entering the second half of the season which makes their standings even more distant.

It should not only talk about Bayern Munich as one of the champion candidates or only limited to Leverkusen because actually there are several other teams that also have the potential to compete. But unfortunately the club's vision has a different path where they only try to take advantage of the business field in football. Dortmund, which we know as a team that always produces talented young players, has difficulty competing for the Bundesliga title.
I also think so, but for now I think it's still too early to talk about it because currently there are seven teams that are not far behind the top of the Bundesliga standings. So the position of Bayern Munich itself is still not completely safe because there are many matches that must be won by each team in order to strengthen their position in the standings and I think Leipzig can also make a surprise for that this season. Because Leipzig could change their focus after the next few matches so that they can become real champion candidates in the Bundesliga this season.

This season looks a little different compared to previous seasons, several teams are starting to show their quality to enliven the competition in the title hunt. Munich still looks dominant in the Bundesliga, Leipzig could threaten their position because they both have collected 14 points until matchday 6. Frankfurt also looked very impressive, their success in holding Munich to a draw showed they cannot be underestimated. Leverkusen is also still able to provide competition at the top despite failing to maintain its performance after achieving success last season. Based on my observation of the overall strength of the team, Bayern Munich has a greater chance, but it depends on their performance in the next match.

Personally, I see the competition for the Bundesliga trophy this season will be tight, and not as usual. I mean, most likely the race for the trophy will be enlivened by several teams at once, usually we only see competition formed in two paths. Leverkusen was very lucky to be able to break Bayern Munchen dominance last season, instead of considering the success of Xabi Alonso squad as their lucky season, I tend to see it as a way to relieve boredom. We remember that for more than a decade Bayern Munchen has dominated it. Despite all that, Leverkusen still has the opportunity to catch up on the points in the upcoming matches, the teams that are currently in the top four of the standings should remain vigilant. Meanwhile, Leverkusen has only suffered one defeat in the Bundesliga so far, meaning they are not completely struggling, and are only 3 points behind the top team. The opportunity to top the standings is still very open, with quite a lot of matches left. Besides that, Xabi Alonso actually deserves praise, because he managed to lead Leverkusen to an impressive performance in the Champions League by achieving 2 wins.

All teams that focus more on business than on trophies in a competition will always find it difficult to achieve greater success except for certain positions in the final standings. And for this season I also hope there is a little difference for every competition in the Bundesliga, because Bayern Munich has worked hard to be able to rise again and Leverkusen also still really wants to win the trophy again. As for other teams such as Leipzig, Frankfurt and Freiburg I still have doubts about their level of consistency this season even though the three teams have started this season very well.

Moreover, with several clubs like Leverkusen, Leipzig and Frankfurt who do not have the ability like Dortmund in producing talented players. We hope that the Bundesliga competition can be more interesting so that many investors will try to provide funds to the club.
Actually there must be goals that are achieved one by one, let say they are trying to win the title and compete for the top position, then the concern is optimizing the team performance to appear stable, this will not be possible if accompanied by efforts to form and develop the potential of each player because in efforts to develop the potential of each player there will definitely be problems such as decreased performance.
Only certain teams can produce great players and really develop and create players with above average quality from the start or from the players who are still very young and do not have much experience, most teams can only rely on money to be able to buy the great players they have.
Here in the Bundesliga the competition is always dominated by 2 certain team and that is Bayern Munich and Dortmund, they are the top two team with the best percentage of dominance throughout the season even though for the last few season Dortmund has indeed seemed unstable and in declining condition.
In my opinion, Leipzig might still have good chance if they can survive and always perform consistently, for Eintracht Frankfurt itself I doubt them but if they succeed then it will be big surprise like Leverkusen showed last season, in my opinion now the Bundesliga is like mystery where in the future there will be big surprise that we might not expect now.

This season is a hot season in the Bundesliga because they are improving, my eyes are on Frankfurt, they are quite solid and in the previous match they held Kompany's team to a draw who have so many superstars or stars in their team, but this team can match their game with their own quality and I think they are better this season, I think they have a good chance when people focus on Leberkusen's game and also Munich I see Frankfurt as a candidate or strong candidate this season to win the Bundesliga.

Frankfurt is currently in 3rd place with 13 points which means only one point away from their superiors, this will be a big momentum when they meet Leverkusen in the next round and having points there will be very important for them and I think it can happen because Leverkusen is a little bit down and I think Frankfurt can take advantage of that at Leverkusen's home, Marmoush who is the top scorer at the moment I think he will help Frankfurt in the next match with 3 points.

If Dortmund and Leipzig they have indeed been clubs that competed tightly in the top 3 for years not only now they always make it difficult for Bayern Munich but in the end they have not been able to break Bayern's dominance, while for other clubs like Frunkfurt, Freiburg and Union Berlin yes they are playing quite well at the moment but I don't think they can compete for the trophy because in my opinion their performance is still doubtful to finish the season consistently but we'll see if one of Frunkfurt, Union Berlin and Freiburg will be a dark horse like Stuttgart last season who performed impressively but it seems they are quite difficult to take 1st or 2nd place.
There are some rising clubs in recent seasons like Leipzig, Frankfurt, Freiburg but in the last more than 10 seasons, only two clubs succeeded with their efforts to take Bundesliga trophy from Bayern Munich. These clubs are Dortmund and Leverkusen, with Leverskusen in the last season and Dortmund in more than 10 seasons ago.

In the last three seasons, Bayern Munich had many signals that their squad are no longer dominating quality than other clubs in Bundesliga and it continues in this season. This time gives very perfect opportunities for clubs in Germany to beat Bayern Munich and break this club domination in Bundesliga. The decreasing quality of Bayern Munich makes Bundesliga title competition more exciting but for a whole league, it does not help to increase domestic player quality and the league quality. Clubs from German need more good home-grown players and better finance to buy star players to compete with clubs from La Liga and Premier League.
