Unborn babies can feel pain

Scientific evidence reveals that unborn babies do, indeed, feel pain

"With the advent of sonograms and live-action ultrasound images, neonatologists and nurses are able to see unborn babies at 20 weeks gestation react physically to outside stimuli such as sound, light and touch. The sense of touch is so acute that even a single human hair drawn across an unborn baby's palm causes the baby to make a fist.

Surgeons entering the womb to perform corrective procedures on tiny unborn babies have seen those babies flinch, jerk and recoil from sharp objects and incisions."

Well, so they say, but they won’t make that claim under oath today. Instead, Planned Parenthood will refuse to appear at all, calling the hearing an attempt at “political gamesmanship”:.............

That should be interesting, if they have them talking about selling tissue on the tape....

It seems unseen tapes are available in the hands of the Texan lawmakers. Not the ones we've seen so far...

Yup, that's what I gathered. Should be interesting.

Planned Parenthood on the run: Refuses to attend Texas hearing

The Texas state Senate’s Health and Human Services Committee plan to review the videos to determine whether Planned Parenthood broke any laws, and to debate how to put an end to cash trades for organs harvested during abortions. That will take place this afternoon, and AG Ken Paxton will testify to the activities of the Texas Planned Parenthood clinic:

But the release of the videos prompted calls for investigations from Texas’ Republican leadership, which led to a probe by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is expected to provide testimony during the hearing.

In announcing the hearing earlier this month, Republican committee chairman Charles Schwertner of Georgetown said the committee would focus on determining whether Planned Parenthood affiliates in Texas were selling fetal tissue and what steps could be “taken to put a swift and decisive stop to it.”

“I know many Texans are equally horrified by such a callous disregard for innocent human life,” Schwertner said in a previous statement.

Planned Parenthood health centers in Texas do not currently donate tissue for medical research, according to the organization.
Well, so they say, but they won’t make that claim under oath today. Instead, Planned Parenthood will refuse to appear at all, calling the hearing an attempt at “political gamesmanship”:

Planned Parenthood officials are not testifying before Texas lawmakers about covertly recorded videos that target the abortion provider, calling the emergency hearing “political gamesmanship.” …

Planned Parenthood says it has done nothing illegal or improper.

Perhaps, but why won’t they make that claim in the hearing? The existence of the CMP video of a clinic in Texas and the AG’s interest in it would at least tend to imply that there are legal issues that arise from it. Why wouldn’t Planned Parenthood want a representative there to push back, if those allegations are unfounded? It looks like an attempt to keep from having responses committed to the record, and avoid potential charges if they get proven to be false.

The vise is tightening, but the debate focuses too narrowly on the legality of tissue transfers for compensation. Planned Parenthood wants that debate, because they can then argue that this benefits humanity through research — even though that ignores the fact that they could just donate the organs, rather than maximize their revenue stream by charging on the “per-item thing,” as yesterday’s video showed a Planned Parenthood official explaining.

No, the real problem for Planned Parenthood is that this organ trade has exposed the core lie at the heart of the abortion industry. In my column today for The Week, I advise people to remain focused on that fundamental hypocrisy demonstrated in these videos:

Planned Parenthood wants to keep the debate on these points to deflect from the real debate — the nature of abortion itself, and the deliberate minimization in language that has allowed it. Abortion defenders claim that the procedure does not terminate life, and that it has no more moral meaning than excising a tumor or a cyst, a “clump of cells” in the most common construction. On Twitter, a young actor in Hollywood offered a more crude assessment this week. “A pile of goop should not have more rights than a human being,” Lucas Neff tweeted, “period.”

Now, though, we see that the same abortion clinics that argue for the “pile of goop” status see things very, very differently when it comes time to benefit from the results of their services. They adjust their techniques to extract and market human organs for buyers to meet demand, with the clear value attached on the basis of both their humanity and specificity. Clinic executives like Dr. Ginde want to negotiate those markets on a per-item basis because of the value that humanity and specificity provides to both parties, “just because we can see how much we can get out of it.”

The true danger to Planned Parenthood and the entire industry is the exposure of their hypocrisy. The two positions of “clumps of cells” and negotiating over human organs from abortions are mutually exclusive. One cannot extract human organs from “a pile of goop,” or from tumors or undifferentiated “clumps of cells.” Human organs come from human beings, and the only way to harvest them from unborn human beings is to kill them first. The videos cut through all of the misdirection, all of the antiseptic generalities used in defense of abortion, to expose its true nature — and that’s what has Planned Parenthood panicked over the videos.

That may also be the argument that Planned Parenthood wants to avoid by bailing out of the hearing in Texas, too. We have them on the run, and we should make sure that they keep running.

Camille Paglia takes on Jon Stewart, Trump, Sanders: “Liberals think of themselves as very open-minded, but that’s simply not true!”

[...]

Now let me give you a recent example of the persisting insularity of liberal thought in the media.  When the first secret Planned Parenthood video was released in mid-July, anyone who looks only at liberal media was kept totally in the dark about it, even after the second video was released.  But the videos were being run nonstop all over conservative talk shows on radio and television.  It was a huge and disturbing story, but there was total silence in the liberal media.  That kind of censorship was shockingly unprofessional.  The liberal major media were trying to bury the story by ignoring it.  Now I am a former member of Planned Parenthood and a strong supporter of unconstrained reproductive rights.  But I was horrified and disgusted by those videos and immediately felt there were serious breaches of medical ethics in the conduct of Planned Parenthood officials.  But here’s my point:  it is everyone’s obligation, whatever your political views, to look at both liberal and conservative news sources every single day.  You need a full range of viewpoints to understand what is going on in the world.

The One Minute Case For Abortion Rights

[...]

There is no right to be a parasite

Rights derive from the fact that human beings need freedom from the coercion of others in order to live. Two properties are essential for a being to possess rights: physical independence and the capacity for rational thought. “Physical independence” means that a being’s existence is not necessarily dependent on the sustenance of another.

A fetus is not an independent entity – in order to live, it must drain the resources of the mother – it is literally a parasite until it is born. A newly-born infant is also helpless, but it does not impose a burden on the mother by its very existence – others may choose to provide for it. A parent who chooses to bring an human being into the world accepts an obligation to ensure that it is provided for, but until that choice is made, the fetus has no more right to live of the mother than a thief has to live on other’s wealth.

Planned Parenthood Tries To Silence Undercover Videos By Sending Threatening Letters To TV Stations

Tuesday the third undercover video of Planned Parenthood’s despicable practices was released by the Center for Medical Progress, but as the blog Jammie Wearing Fools highlights, some people may not see it if PP gets its way:

Planned Parenthood of Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota warned news outlets today that airing undercover videos from the Center for Medical Progress could violate “patient privacy.” Planned Parenthood says the videos violate laws however no wrong doing by the Center for Medical Progress has been proven.

“The material should not be aired,” states a press release sent out to the stations. This absurdly transparent attempt at damage control is no surprise. The organization has been engaging in mafia-like strong-arm tactics in their all-out attack-as-defense strategy, including congressional pressure, an Obama Department of Justice investigation. and the same from the California Attorney General’s office.

In short, PP is willing to do just about anything to stop people from hearing bad things about it. Well, anything except for not selling baby parts.

Re: Center for Medical Progress Expected to Violate Patient Privacy

The Center for Medical Progress (CMP) is an extreme activist organization whose sole mission is to prevent women from accessing health care and to destroy Planned Parenthood. The board members of this group believe that abortion is “genocide,” and employ people who went to jail for attempting to bomb a women’s health clinic. They are also connected with the man who murdered abortion provider Dr. George Tiller.

CMP has used footage obtained through deceit and unlawful behavior, including possible violations of state recording laws, federal tax laws and falsified state identification. Then, they concoct wildly false stories through selective editing. We expect this video will be no different in that regard; however, footage yet to come is expected to represent an extreme violation of patient privacy by including footage of post-abortion fetal tissue neither patients nor health care professionals authorized be filmed.

When your network decides whether to consider this story newsworthy, or whether to use any of this footage at all, we urge you to keep this in mind: The extremists who entered Planned Parenthood labs under false pretenses violated research protocol, and, worse, violated the privacy of patients involved. Those patients’ privacy should not be further violated by having this footage shared by the media.

The storage and examination processes that CMP used to get this footage are medically necessary. It is necessary medical professionals ensure an abortion is complete so that patients do not get an infection. When tissue is donated for medical research, these steps are also necessary for the donations to be completed. It is also medically necessary that researchers evaluate the laboratory procedures of a medical provider for safety standards and best practices.

Some of the conversations and protocols that occur in medical settings and among professional peers can sound jarring when taken out of context. While this can be difficult to hear or watch, it should not be used as an excuse to defund Planned Parenthood.

CMP gained access to Planned Parenthood facilities under false pretenses and filmed without securing approval from the Planned Parenthood staff being filmed or the patients whose privacy is compromised by this secret videotaping. The material should not be aired.

Planned Parenthood taps crisis communications firm

Planned Parenthood has enlisted high-profile Washington public relations firm SKDKnickerbocker as it scrambles to deal with the ongoing scandal and release of a third undercover video Tuesday showing a clinic’s staff handling fetal tissue after an abortion.

The additional PR firepower reflects the growing pressure on the women’s health organization amid building GOP calls to cut its $540 million in government funding. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) earlier this week called to halt Planned Parenthood’s federal funding while Congress investigates whether the organization broke a federal ban on profiting from fetal tissue donation. The Senate plans to hold a vote on a defunding amendment from Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and others that is likely to fail.

SKDKnickerbocker is no newbie to working on Planned Parenthood issues. The Democratically aligned firm is run by well-connected operatives, including Anita Dunn and Hilary Rosen. It also worked with the group during the 2012 election cycle, according to SKDKnickerbocker’s website.

“Planned Parenthood is a longtime client, and we are proud to help them push back against these extremist attacks from people who want to end reproductive health care for women in this country,” a SKDKnickerbocker spokesman said in a statement.

The group circulated a memo to reporters and producers late Monday that discouraged them from airing the undercover videos, arguing that they were obtained under false identification and violated patient privacy.

“Those patients’ privacy should not be further violated by having this footage shared by the media,” the memo reads.

Planned Parenthood also has lobbying firms Capitol Counsel on retainer. Glover Park Group has also previously done work for the group. Planned Parenthood spent nearly $1.3 million on lobbying during the first six months of 2015, according to federal disclosures.

Third Planned Parenthood Undercover Video Released – Photos of Procured Baby Tissue

For 6 months, Holly O’Donnell’s job was to identify pregnant women at Planned Parenthood who met criteria for fetal tissue orders and to harvest the fetal body parts after their abortions.

As if the first two videos involving fetal organ harvesting and haggling over price weren’t vile enough, yet another video has gone public from the Center For Medical Progress. This one looks to be the first of a new angle on the series, entitled “Human Capital. Episode 1: Planned Parenthood’s Black Market In Baby Parts“, and it takes on more of a documentary type of feel.

This episode feature the story of Holly O’Donnell, a phlebotomist-turned-whistleblower who was looking for work drawing blood, “I thought I was going to be just drawing blood, not procuring tissue from aborted fetuses“, as she applied for a job with a company called Stem Express. O’Donnell says that Stem Express didn’t even tell her what job would entail during her interview. She later learned that they hire procurement techs to “draw blood and dissect dead fetuses, and sell the parts to researchers. They partner with Planned Parenthood and they get part of the money.”

“We were asked to procure certain tissues, like brain, liver, sinus, pancreas, heart, lungs, and pretty much anything on the fetus. It’s basically a huge trafficking of fetal tissues” she reveals. “They weren’t looking for a compassionate individual, at all. They were just looking for someone who could get as much money, as many samples. I think that’s why they were interested in me, as a phlebotomist, cause I can draw quick… They wanted someone who could get the numbers up.”

O’Donnell says that the owner of Stem Express, Cate Dyer, used to be a procurement tech, but started her own company. “Now she’s making, a lot of money, based off the poor girl who half the time don’t want to get abortions. It’s a pretty sick company.”

“Whatever we could procure, they’d get a certain percentage. The main nurse was always trying to make sure we got our specimens. She knew that Planned Parenthood was getting compensated, so she wanted to make sure that everything was going great for us” O’Donnell explains. “The harder and more valueable the tissue, the more money you get. So if you can somehow procure a brain or a heart, then you’re going to get more money… I guess that’s the incentive to get the hard stuff.”

O’Donnell goes on to explain her first day on the job, where her trainer and other people were digging into tissue, separating vaginal tissue. Using tweezers, the trainer explained “This is the head, this the arm…” and shortly after, O’Donnell blacked out when she began to dig through the parts. “I woke up in the recover room, and the nurse looked to me and said ‘You’re new, huh. Don’t worry, it still happens to a bunch of us. Some of us don’t ever get over it.”

Anti-abortion hackers attack Planned Parenthood, release databases, employee data

Planned Parenthood has been hacked.

Late Sunday night, a group of hackers who oppose the healthcare nonprofit's abortion practices released Planned Parenthood's website databases as well as names and email addresses of the organization's employees.

The attack on Planned Parenthood follows a storm of controversy over the organization. Anti-abortion activists sparked the uproar earlier this month with the release of an edited video showing a Planned Parenthood director discussing the donation of fetus organs and tissue to medical research facilities, a legal but highly controversial practice.

One of the hackers, who goes by the pseudonym “E,” told the Daily Dot that the cyberattack was politically motivated.

“Trying to mold an atrocious monstrosity into socially acceptable behaviors is repulsive,” said E. “Obviously what [Planned Parenthood] does is a very ominous practice. It'll be interesting to see what surfaces when [Planned Parenthood] is stripped naked and exposed to the public.”

Planned Parenthood Chief Information Officer Tom Subak told the Daily Dot on Sunday night that the organization was previously unaware of a breach in their systems.

“We think we have really good security, especially on flagging suspicious behavior,” said Subak. “We have not [received any flags].”

Subak was unable to provide additional information early Monday morning.

The hackers involved say that they plan to decrypt and release internal Planned Parenthood emails “soon.” No emails have yet been released in the dump.

On the website featuring the database dump, the hackers gave some insight into their possible motivations.

“We've noticed quite a lot of attention has been diverted to a supposedly malicious organization known as Planned Parenthood. The actions of this 'federation' are not seen as right in the eyes of the public. So here we are, the social justice warriors, seeking to reclaim some sort of lulz for the years and thousands of dollars that Planned Parenthood have wasted and made harvesting your babies.”

The hackers say they used a so-called Blind SQL, an attack that exploits unseen error message returned from a website database. It is “blind” because the attacker does not need to see the error messages to carry out the attack.

The hackers say they attempted to deface Planned Parenthood's site or have it redirect to the hacker group's Twitter account. However, they were unable to accomplish this goal because, according to E, Planned Parenthood's website “backend is so terribly configured,” which thwarted their attempts to gain further administration access to the site.

The group is calling themselves 3301, the same name used by a famous group of secretive cryptographers known as Cicada 3301. The two groups appear to be entirely unrelated.

Last week, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), a 2016 Republican candidate for president, vowed to defund Planned Parenthood using “all legislative vehicles” available to him.

Apparently this is from May, and has been "debunked' a bit. But it's pretty disgusting.

Dead Babies In Your Food, Drinks & Makeup Illuminati Exposed! 2015

Which Companies Are Using Aborted Human Fetuses in Their Food?

"Last week, Oklahoma State Senator Ralph Shortey introduced a bill that would ban "the manufacture or sale of food or products which use aborted human fetuses." But which foods or products use aborted human fetuses? Let's investigate.

NPR speculates that Shortey's bill has to do with a recent boycott aimed at PepsiCo for working with a company called Senomyx that "has been accused of using proteins derived from human embryonic kidney cells in its research.""

Snopes tried to debunk it, saying, "neither Pepsi nor any other U.S. food company is actually manufacturing or selling any consumable products "that are actually made using the cell tissue of unborn babies that were murdered through abortion." What we're talking about here is a cell line derived from a single (healthy, aborted) fetus over forty years ago"

Either way, I don't like these companies using fetus's cells at all. Why do we need that around food and drink that's been ok to eat for years beforehand?

Why do bills like this need to exist?

Bill Would Ban Aborted Fetuses in Food

" "There is a potential that there are companies that are using aborted human babies in their research and development of basically enhancing flavor for artificial flavors," he told KRMG Radio. "I don't know if it is happening in Oklahoma, it may be, it may not be. What I am saying is that if it does happen then we are not going to allow it to manufacture here."

Shortey may be acting on claims that the San Diego-based company Semonyx used proteins derived from human embryonic kidney cells to test artificial sweeteners, NPR reported. The cell line, known as HEK 293, was created from a human embryo in 1970 and has become a staple in biochemistry labs around the world."

Damage control: United Way Issues Statement On Backing Planned Parenthood…

United Way Worldwide said Friday (July 24) that it has never given money to Planned Parenthood, but that a few independent local chapters do. It released the statement after a number of blogs and social media posts asserted that “The United Way” funds Planned Parenthood, a national non-profit organization that provides reproductive health, maternal and child health services.

Michael Williamson, president and chief executive of United Way of Southeast Louisiana, said separately that his chapter has “never provided funding to Planned Parenthood, and we do not now.” The 1,200 United Ways in the United States are each independent entities, with their own volunteer boards that determine funding needs, Williamson said. He said local United Ways do not take directions on funding from United Way Worldwide, the sole purpose of which is to assist local entities with marketing and training.

The worldwide organization said less than 6 percent of local United Ways provide support to Planned Parenthood—”less than 1/10th of 1 percent of total United Way revenue.” Its statement continued: “No United Way funds are currently used, or have ever been used to support abortion services.”

The price of fetal parts

Planned Parenthood’s reaction to the release of a clandestinely recorded conversation about the sale of fetal body parts was highly revealing. After protesting that it did nothing illegal, it apologized for the “tone” of one of its senior directors.

Her remarks lacked compassion, admitted Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards. As if Dr. Deborah Nucatola’s cold and casual discussion over salad and wine of how the fetal body can be crushed with forceps in a way that leaves valuable organs intact for sale is some kind of personal idiosyncrasy. On the contrary, it’s precisely the kind of psychic numbing that occurs when dealing daily with industrial scale destruction of the growing, thriving, recognizably human fetus.

This was again demonstrated by the release this week of a second video showing another official sporting that same tone, casual and even jocular, while haggling over the price of an embryonic liver. “If it’s still low, then we can bump it up,” she joked, “I want a Lamborghini.”

Abortion critics have long warned that the problem is not only the obvious — what abortion does to the fetus — but also what it does to us. It’s the same kind of desensitization that has occurred in the Netherlands with another mass exercise in life termination: assisted suicide. It began as a way to prevent the suffering of the terminally ill. It has now become so widespread and wanton that one-fifth of all Dutch assisted-suicide patients are euthanized without their explicit consent.

The Planned Parenthood revelations will have an effect. Perhaps not on government funding, given the Democratic Party’s unwavering support and the president wishing it divine guidance. Planned Parenthood might escape legal jeopardy as well, given the loophole in the law banning the sale of fetal parts that permits compensation for expenses (shipping and handling, as it were).

But these revelations will have an effect on public perceptions. Just as ultrasound altered feelings about abortion by showing the image, the movement, the vibrant living-ness of the developing infant in utero, so too, I suspect, will these Planned Parenthood revelations, by throwing open the door to the backroom of the clinic where that being is destroyed.

It’s an ugly scene. The issue is less the sale of body parts than how they are obtained. The nightmare for abortion advocates is a spreading consciousness of how exactly a healthy fetus is turned into a mass of marketable organs, how, in the words of a senior Planned Parenthood official, one might use “a less crunchy technique” — crush the head, spare the organs — “to get more whole specimens.”

The effect on the public is a two-step change in sensibilities. First, when ultrasound reveals how human the living fetus appears. Next, when people learn, as in these inadvertent admissions, what killing the fetus involves.

Remember. The advent of ultrasound has coincided with a remarkable phenomenon: Of all the major social issues, abortion is the only one that has not moved toward increasing liberalization. While the legalization of drugs, the redefinition of marriage and other assertions of individual autonomy have advanced, some with astonishing rapidity, abortion attitudes have remained largely static. The country remains evenly split.

What will be the reaction to these Planned Parenthood revelations? Right now, to try to deprive it of taxpayer money. Citizens repelled by its activities should not be made complicit in them. But why not shift the focus from the facilitator to the procedure itself?

The House has already passed a bill banning abortion after 20 weeks. That’s far more fruitful than trying to ban it entirely because, apart from the obvious constitutional issue, there is no national consensus about the moral status of the early embryo. There’s more agreement on the moral status of the later-term fetus. Indeed, about two-thirds of Americans would ban abortion after the first trimester.

There is more division about the first trimester because one’s views of the early embryo are largely a matter of belief, often religious belief. One’s view of the later-term fetus, however, is more a matter of what might be called sympathetic identification — seeing the image of a recognizable human infant and, now, hearing from the experts exactly what it takes to “terminate” its existence.

The role of democratic politics is to turn such moral sensibilities into law. This is a moment to press relentlessly for a national ban on late-term abortions.

California AG to Investigate Group That Exposed Planned Parenthood Baby Parts Harvesting Program

They exposed Planned Parenthood’s aborted baby parts harvesting program.
Now they must be punished.

The Center for Medical Progress released video this week showing Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s Medical Directors’ Council President, Dr. Mary Gatter, haggling over payments for intact fetal specimens.

In the video Dr. Mary Gatter haggles over aborted baby parts.

California Democratic Attorney General will investigate the group that exposed Planned Parenthood’s ghoulish baby organ harvesting program.
But Planned Parenthood will get a pass.
FOX News reported:

California Attorney General Kamala Harris announced Friday she plans to review two undercover videos released by anti-abortion activists aimed at discrediting Planned Parenthood’s procedures for providing fetal tissue to researchers to see if any law was broken in the filming.

Harris made the announcement in a letter to four Democratic members of Congress who had requested the investigation, saying she’ll use her office’s authority to regulate charity organizations to see if the organization that made the videos violated registration or reporting requirements, or broke any other rules.

“We will carefully review the allegations raised in your letter to determine whether there were any violations of California law,” Harris said in the letter to four members of the U.S. House of Representatives.

She said her office will look into “allegations that individuals impersonated corporate officials from a fake biologics company, resulting in the release of secretly filmed videos of Planned Parenthood physicians without their consent.”

Harris, a Democrat, plans to run for the U.S. Senate in 2016.

The videos show Dr. Mary Gatter, a Planned Parenthood medical director in Southern California, meeting with people posing as possible buyers of intact fetal specimens. The conversation is centered of the cost of the specimens.

David Daleiden of the Center for Medical Progress, the group that released the videos, contends it follows all applicable laws when making videos that he called investigative journalism.
