I've never seen BTC anywhere in the real world in the UK, plus doesn't BTC have like 30 minutes + send time? That must have been an awkward wait Tongue

Depends on how much fee is included on the payment. Usually it takes around 20-30 mins. or less if you put the normal fee which is 0.0001.

That is one problem I find in transacting with bitcoins irl. Even getting a single confirmation takes several minutes. It is kinda slow for a fast-paced business imo.

I think this will happen soon, as we see the bitcoin grow up daily, the number of its supporters and fans grow up also, and that's will "force" many great marketplaces to use it as payment processor

I hope so, hopeful that day coming soooooooon.  Cheesy

Bitcoin sends in a few seconds.

But some transactions got to wait hours or even days to get some confirmations.  Cry

use off chain service, like bitpay, and anyway no one of my sending was last so long than more than two hours, even without fee

requiring a day or more, it's very very unlucky, and certainly the standard

I guess it has something to do with the fees, higher fee faster confirmations.

The receiver still see the money sent to him within seconds. You don't need to wait for confirmations. If you do need confirmations and it does not confirm within a few blocks, then you did not pay enough fee.
ya but just cuz the receiver sees the transaction doesnt mean he/she got the money. the person sending the money can double spend it and run before the receiver realizes hes been scammed

Thats why you need to check the transaction for double spend. Its pretty obvious when someone send you a transaction with no fee and then a duplicate appear instantly. Blockchain explorers are supposed to check that too.

It always takes 3 days to move money between banks.  Except when it's 4 days.

If I transfer money from my Paypal account to my checking account, it's 3 or 4 days.  If I want to put money into my Etrade account, it's 3 or 4 days.  Every week when I deposit my paycheck - it's available the next day, but it's not settled yet.  That's why your bank charges YOU money if someone gives you a bad check.  They may let you spend it before 3 days, but you might have to put the money back in.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that the 3 or 4 days are BUSINESS days.  If you send on a Friday, it can take 5 to 6 days.  On Saturday and Sunday, you can't send any money at all.

you are confusing "sending a transaction" with "getting confirmation".
sending bitcoin transactions are almost immediate as long as you have a wallet and internet access you can send it in matter of seconds and the other person would receive it as fast.

but it would take 3 to 30 minutes to get a confirmation on it. two things here. first shops usually don't care about confirmation and trust that you are not gonna rip them off for a couple of bucks and go through the double spending.
also you can use a third party like a wallet like xapo or something that work off-chain and don't need confirmation to receive the coins.

It was my mum's birthday yesterday. And I wanted to buy a birthday cake for her, but when I reached the bread shop, I realized I forgot carrying my wallet and I had only a few bucks in my pocket.  I tried to talk to the boss of the shop if I can pay by bitcoin, to my surprise, she said YES and finally I paid the cake by bitcoin.  Grin

This is my first time to use BTC as real money buying a real physical goods.

As a bitcoiner, using BTC online is very common.  Have you ever used Bitcoin as Real money to buy Real/physical goods?  plz share your experience.   Wink

it's 1 hour if you talk about confirmation, some time even higher, but the funds arrive instantly, with the recetn malleability attack i would wait for 10 min average, 1 confirmations

I have used Bitcoin as real money to buy a smartphone(smasung galaxy s5) 6-7 months ago from amazon.com and payment processed through purse.io. The transaction went on smooth.... After that i never used bitcoin to but real/Physical goods..
whether Amazon.com now accepted bitcoin as payment systems?
I just know about it,

Yes, amazon and newegg are accepting bitcoin.

You can buy amazon gift cards with Bitcoin, but Amazon itself does't accept BTC.

I don't know about newegg
nice but
you can buy giftcard with bitcoin, but why amazon doesnt accept bitcoin huh?
No one knows the reason?

I'm going to a pizza place on Tuesday that accepts Bitcoin!  I've bought plenty of things online with BTC, but never over-the-counter.  Once while I was passing through a bigger city, I stopped to find a Bitcoin ATM, but the place I found was out of business, and the other ones listed in the area were all closed because it was Sunday.
