Do what I do and set delilvery address as your work address. I have all my bills delivered to my office instead of home Smiley

Plus there's theres the bonus that you get a nice ASIC delivered to work so screw around with in the afternoon before going home

Leave it at work. Free power! Smiley

FYI, using work resources for personal gain is generally frowned upon, profiting directly from your employers electricity bill will most likely be a resume generating event if you are caught.

Ask permission for something vague and keep your head down, then you can get away with it.

It's...um...a space heater. It's cold in my office.

That one could be a winner, as long as nobody steals your space heater. It's even a USB controlled variable unit, pretty fancy!

I also just realized that unless is is BFL it will be so confusing looking a thing that nobody will steal it. Tom I love your stuff, but it does not look expensive to the layman, BFL is all shiny and black and ... where did it go?

I think my favorite one for a cube situation would be to hollow out the crappiest looking computer case I could find, and put it under my desk with a Kensington lock.

Now the answer is put it in my office, lock the door and leave.

RHIP, like my new "space heaters"?
I have a small RAID array of "space heaters" so I only will get 20% colder in the event of a failure.

just wire it up in the drop ceiling lol

our office has all kinds of things stored in the drop ceilings, they even had power outlets and ethernet installed up there so they don't have to run extension cords hah

that being said I would rather keep mine safe and secure at home  Wink

Word, these things aren't cheap. See that big bitcoinasic logo on it then bam it all of a sudden disappears.

Perhaps a color printer, a little tape and some creative rebranding might help.

I don't trust any of the monkeys in my office or the cleaners to leave mining equipment lying around.

Do you ever respond to PM or mail, i wrote pm and mail and no respond about asic order?
My question is, USPS service in Russia is too slow and DHL in Russia does not work with private person, only with company when importing large mailbox, so want to change delivery address to mailforward company in USA, which will send my asic with EMS.

pretty sure people could file fraudulent chargebacks with their credit cards if Tom has verified tracking info to an address other than the billing address.

If ordering by credit card the billing and shipping address have to match anyway I think so dodging the VAT isn't as easy as it seems.
Is that so? Because as mentioned before I'm planning to visit a friend in the USA and to stay there until ~18. December. If shipping starts like in the first week of December it would be early enough to send the bASIC to him instead to me so I could pick it up and take it back home without having to pay the 19% VAT in Germany.

Hey Tom, how do you usually describe the contents of the package when you ship FPGAs overseas? Computer hardware? Will you use the same description for ASIC devices?

Thanks.

For the ModMiner i always listed it as "Merchandise"

Description:

FPGA Mini Computer

for the bASIC I will probably do something similar

"ASIC Mini Computer"

or something of that nature

"ASIC Mini Computer" works for me  Grin, unfortunately they'll probably open it and say it's computer parts not a complete computer.  Cry

I'd vote for "Computer (for parts)" or just "Computer parts".

Holy fuck thats some bad tax :/

we need someone from a country that doesnt have that tax and smuggle in Tongue

Someone from Andora

Or the Channel Islands (states of Jersey and Guernsey). Particularly those in western Europe, just take a short vacation in the Channel Islands, pick up the goods from a trusted party and then smuggle them back into the EUSSR through the "green" Customs channel et voilà, no tax to pay. Of course, strictly speaking that's illegal so I'm not advocating it. Smiley
