I don't really know if this exchange is a scam, it's a small exchange, but an old one.

ANYWAY: the website has been blocked for EU countrie for 7 days now and I have no news of the situation (just email asking me to wait without any technical explanations).
So... If you want to live dangerously and are ready to see your money kept behind a wall (or already spent in the streets of Santiago), then this website is for you

Hm. I don't see any warning notice when coming from EU IPs though but if the block is imposed by hitbtc, it's likely just another reason for them to justify holding your funds hostage.

There's also a good chance, you'll get the typical never-ending verification requests after. It's part of the scheme so I'd advise against it to prevent further loss. No matter which crypto community you go to, be it bitcointalk, reddit, or other platforms, the general consensus is it's a shady af.

I don't think they even care anymore about their reputation. They are like yobit, or they are the 1xbit of crypto exchanges  Grin.
I have to agree, with such a length of time passed and they have never really made any sincere effort to address what seem in some cases to be genuine concerns/claims it can be presumed they gave up on trying to save and protect their reputation a long time ago. If things do not change they really could start falling further in to the Yobit category level.

Personnaly I wasn't ready, and I still am not !

There is no mention of the EU, the message on their website states:

Why have I been blocked? HitBTC is using a security service to protect itself from online attacks. The action you just performed triggered the security solution. There are several actions that could trigger this block including submitting a certain word or phrase, a SQL command or malformed data.

If you read a couple of post on this thread or even the trust rating of this exchange on the first page. You'll see how negative they are. There are a lot of negative feed backs that they've received and complaints that are still kept coming. I checked their website and saw 600+ online people and that's not a lot knowing that this exchange has been there for so long. I guess threads that are against them and accusations about them have helped people but still there are a couple of hundred people that uses them.

By the way, how did they address the allegations about them locking Dogecoin withdrawals in order to make more money for themselves?

People will complain the hell about them and they aren't even moved. The users whose Dogecoins were locked up in the exchange with no way to withdraw them are still complaining to this date

People decide to dump the Dogecoins for other withdrawable assets, so the price in the exchange shows that Dogecoins price there is almost 10 times lower than the current market price. A nice way for the scam exchange to make profits through arbitraging.

This was my last post in the thread in May 2021 and it was a warning about HitBTC. I return to this thread after a long period of absence and I find that not a single member has anything positive to say about them. Are the complaints against them being taken seriously and have HitBTC decided to engage with customer complaints in an acceptable manner?

By the way, how did they address the allegations about them locking Dogecoin withdrawals in order to make more money for themselves?

All users are advised to stay away from HitBTC, they still have not been able to move on from the scam allegations.

Signature designer - start @$10 - PM me!
i advice everybody to report them to sec.gov  .
HitBTC does not serve US customers, according to web archives from 2019[1]. But they haven't enforced mandatory KYC during registration for customers (this is their dirty trick to confiscate user funds).
In general, you do not need to pass a verification procedure to start trading via the HitBTC app – your deposits will not be limited in any way.

If you report today you must bring proof of serious violations, for example you caught them serving US customers. Based on the laxity of KYC, this kind of violation is possible.

Sad truth

Sec doesn't scare about scammers scamming people. They go after exchanges that have legitimate volumes and are not scamming people but want to"regulate" (control) them. If sec really cared about people's welfare, proven scam services like Hitbtc, 1xbit/1xbet, freewallet etc. would be the first to be sanctioned and have their domains seized.

While I've come across lots of dirt on the exchange on the forum, for me it has been smooth and effortless, even as a beginner. I've KYC'ed (had some troubles due to their high standards to photos, totally understandable), made a deposit, swapped the coins, some of them traded... Everything looks fine. Support person Victor who helped me with KYC was really nice and helped me through the process.

I say never give up if you encounter anything puzzling and bug them in support - they're there for a reason

then try to gett your dogecoin or ethereum classic out of there  .

So your aim was to come here and try to shill about a shit exchange that has given hundreds or a thousand of customers heart aches because of the stupid and impossible KYC verification procedure?

Sorry to burst your bubble. We are well aware of shills here. If you think you are going to convince us with this random shit posts, You are wrong.

So any good experience is a shill now? Gotcha buddy, keep me posted.

Naturally, most complainers will come forward, while satisfied people won't. And this is where the problem lies - when you come across all this doomposting, you won't even try to fix things and get them done, you'll just give up. So far all this crying about impossible KYC that I've read seems to do a better job on giving up than the KYC itself lol.

There are always two sides to one coin. I'm just giving a different perspective than you. My KYC went fine. And it can go fine, it's not stupid or impossible. That's what I'm about.

Unfortunately when you're new to the crypto world, it's hard to know who to trust, I learned a lot on my own, I already had my HitBTC account hacked and I lost a considerable amount, I stopped using it a long time ago.

A tip for newbies is, "Read and do a lot of research before entrusting your money to others. Exchange should not be used as a wallet!".

I ❤️Bitcoin
stay away from there .
you can deposit all crypto  , but when you wanne withdraw it will be offline  .
everybody knows when deposit works withdraw also works  .
they scam us even more by holding the prices very low like dogecoin and ethereum classic .
check for youself .
they sell your crypto when pumps come and dont let you withdraw untill prices are low again  .
the internet is full with complaints  .
stay away there and spread the word .

These are just few of the hundreds of complaints on Hitbtc or in this platform.

https://www.cointelligence.com/exchanges_list/hitbtc/
https://www.reddit.com/r/hitbtc/comments/hbz22e/people_scammed_by_hitbtc_this_is_the_biggest_scam/
https://www.reddit.com/r/hitbtc/comments/lxbhjc/hitbtc_is_a_scam_here_is_exactly_how_their_scam/

Dont know on why people do consider out on touching this platform despite of those complaints.
Mostly newbies are going for this as they still feel good but now after having some serious issues and offline wallets they start crying about this we need some good awareness program on social media about these scam exchanges because these are hurting very badly for very long run, and we are unable to give some better knowledge to members about these scam exchanges.
