I think it depends on what coin we are holding. If the development is good and there are a lot of supporters of their project or their product. Holding it is not bad, Just make sure you hold a lot of coins and not only depends on 3-5 coins because if some of your coins did not go up you still have your other coins. In the past i sold a coin around 0.30 cents and when i saw the price in the past few months i't reach 3$-4$ and i was like, i wasted a opportunity to earn big. That's why holding is not bullshit but it depends on the team and on us. Patience is all we need when we are holding for a long time.
The coins that you're holding is useless. They had now achieved their stable price and will not go up unless something happened. It is rather good to invest in ETH, Ripple and NEO. They've proven their worth.

Pick your investments wisely. Sure, sometime the project loses direction and the coins stagnate, and in those cases you have to either cut your loses or settle in for the longterm, in the hope that the devs eventually get things back on track.

They must solve some kind of global problem, offer a completely new idea, or significantly improve anything. Coins that do not have a promising idea and a real opportunity to implement it - are doomed to oblivion.
Investment takes a long time if investing in property but if we have a digital asset in a matter of hours could be a profit or loss. Maybe if you keep a coin that has a nice road map I do not think it will be worth it.
Because you are holding the altcoins that are worthless in many other investors view, and without much interest from other investors buying those altcoins on crypto-currencies exchange market, the price of that altcoin will never rise due to an oversupply in the trading market but there is simply no demand for it.
It will matter on what coin we use, if your holding a good coin I know for sure that soon you will be happy that you did hold, been regretting some alts that I sell before that are greater in value mow if I still hold them.

It really matter on what kind of alts you hold, out of 10 coins it might be just 2 or 3 that actually performed close like NEO but not possible for those with exactly same purpose as bitcoin, these posts discourage me to HODL actually cause your hands would loose when you are not suffering lost from that coin. Mooning is not that easy anymore in cryptocurrency considering attention are keep moving towards new coin that are more advanced, more fancy and more attention. Unless that coin's potential is fully realized if not it would just follow the trends.
The shit is the coins that you hold...ther is many good coins you can hold it you just need to be smart and know well the projects,prl for example up from 0.06 (ico price) to more than 2$

Making a wise decision is never a bullshit, even how long you have been investing and you invested in the wrong project then you lost it all. Holding is the sign of how you trust your coins enough to make it grow not today but in the coming future. You are not alone in this. Holding some coins really hurt but I find it difficult to sell off. there are times when I want to sell of but I always imagine how it will hurt more if that coin I intend to sell moons the next day. and price is the same....no moon ....I dont trust to holding anymore,any suggestions?

That can be said as a thing that can not be ascertained because Altcoin price is very difficult to predict. You can not assume that holding for a long time can not be profitable and you can not assume that it will be profitable. Everything goes so fast and beyond predictions, That's the characteristic of Altcoin even though previously owned has a prospect then in reality it is not. So for me we should be able to make quick decisions, I will sell the coins I have when I already get a profit margin. HODLing blindly is not good. Take for example XVG. People who bought at 3 cents and sold at 24 cents can easily buy back now at 4 cents.
and book 600% profits . if they have Held it blindly, they would have been back to square zero.
So HODL intelligently I would say.
This just simply signifies that you are just holding it for long term but if you are wise and do really aim for making money then you should check out prices because opportunities do comes out very rare and never missed out that thing because it can possibly make us millionaire depending on how much we do hold of.Dont hesitate to sell on when you do see chances because anytime you can make a buyback when price dips once again. and book 600% profits . if they have Held it blindly, they would have been back to square zero.

Anything that the developers does can move the price more. I like to just keep the coins and sell after an announcement is posted.
It really depends on the coin, I think you had the coins even after they have established their goals and objectives. Coins that are growing will pretty much go to the moon, and I have had so much regret by not holding those coins. Try to study the coin's functions first before doing a long term investment.
The length of time that you hodl a coin may have some effect on its profit but It actually depends on the coin you are holding. No matter how long you hodl a certain coin, if that coin has no potential to grow or its technology isn’t imoroving or of no use at all, you will definitely have no profit.
