I guess this collection of bribe before allowing a new player to showcase his talent for his country is always practice in Africa because Africa is so corrupt in everything that they do. A quality player will want to be part of his national team to bring victory for his country, instead the coach of will demand for money because he is not a good coach and he is after money and not for the betterment of his team. I wouldn't doubt this story,it is only the European countries and most countries that loves football that opens the door for all players to come in to showcase their talent for their country.

I think there are people like that everywhere who have to pay bribes to be able to play for a club or national team, but not all countries are like that maybe the football federation in Cameroon will regret after seeing Mbappe play for France, whereas we know that if Mbappe plays for the Cameroon national team, of course it will be very good to be able to bring the Cameroon national team to play well in the World Cup.

Unfortunately maybe there are management regulations or there are people who really damage the image like that, I'm not a Cameroonian but if that's the case maybe the Cameroonian team will really miss and Mbappe already has a proper place in France because there he feels valued compared to Cameroon.  Cheesy

I wouldn't generalize such case like that. That is true, some of them are ruining the image of a certain team.
But it is happening around the globe, not only for Cameroon but even for small teams.
I guess, bribery is one of the negative aspect in every business, not only in sports but all the other businesses out there.
There will be no bribery if the official won't accept bribes. But unfortunately, some are accepting such bribe because of greed.

This can happen if the team does not have a strong sponsor who can fund all the activities and training of the players on the team.
Corruption knows no bounds. It is just a selfish interest and self aggrandizement, nothing of such will be an excuse. Corruption takes any form whether sponsor or not. The case of Cameroon as reviewed by Mbappe's interview is sufficient. The national team of Cameroon won't lack such sponsor I believe because the government will provide all that was needed but few top officials will divert it into personal purse.
Well, maybe anything can happen, but from the Mbappe case, the government can suspect him and investigate why something like this could have happened. Even though these schools could have provided it for free, they could produce new seeds of players with more potential to win. Later the results will also be returned to the country because they achieved good sports achievements. But indeed, it could also be due to corruption that may have been going on for a long time, so the government had difficulty finding it.

It's definitely Cameroon's loss and not Mbappe's. This is what corruption brings to a country or a sports league or any organization for that matter. Instead of reaching its full potential, it will fail because they are not actually looking for the best athletes they could get. They are probably just screening athletes according to payment. You pay, you play. You don't, you can't. It's just lucky for Mbappe that France was there ready to take on young athletes with pure skill, and all for free.

But one striking revelation was that he would have been a cameroonian player if they weren't asking his father to pay them money before allowing him to play while he still trying to fix his career and French allowed him without payment.

It is not surprising that usually officials in football "request" fees from the families of children before they can be educated at the academy. That's why usually the kids at the football academy are rich kids, only a few kids come from poor families. But usually this only happens in developing countries, where corruption cases are quite high.

He miss the country and the country also miss him. If he those not miss the country he wouldn't have visited the country, but the country really lost a very great talented player, the government should arrest the coach that was asking for money and he should be punished so that things like this wont happen in future again. coaches are suppose to build the team with the most talented players, and they shouldn't build the team due to the players that can pay them.

I think coming to Cameroon is to show support for the father's country to help do some charity work there, I don't think he regretted not playing for Cameroon but only explained why he didn't. Mbappe should be happy with himself I believe because even if he had parted with such money at that time, he may need to pay more at a certain stage if he wants to play in a bigger tournament for Cameroon. Moreover, it shows that the FA is not fair with their players and their judgement may have affected him in higher tournament selection but France didn't collect money from him and gave him the better rope to climb into stardom

the government should arrest the coach that was asking for money and he should be punished so that things like this wont happen in future again

A corrupt system doesn't go after offenders because they are all birds of same feathers. Even if they do out of pressure, the offender will bribe their way out. Corruption shows the rot going on in a system.

Corruption in cameroonian football was not something new.

Back a decade ago FIFA has ever suspended this country due to the bad governance and corruption.
In the football sports industry there is a very large circulation of money so that it is used by some people to make wealth easily but this actually damages the development of football in the country itself.
Maybe related parties with more authority have tried to always supervise so that there are no acts of corruption, but considering that there are lots of people at the grassroots level who can easily play money with embezzlement or corruption.

Even though FIFA has suspended the country but if there is no awareness from the leaders of the football association there then it will only be in vain.

Bribing among football players is widespread in Africa, where national football federations have a vested interest in the significant earnings of their compatriots playing in Europe. Given the numerous revelations in the past, it is not surprising that such occurrences continue to happen. The fundamental issue lies in how the country's leadership responds to such news.
Bribing has been the order of the day in football, especially in African sport. No major player would want to play for African teams since their wages and football facilities are not up to European standards. When looking at the France national squad, the number of black players outnumbers the proportion of white players. Cameron overlooked their own product, Kylian Mbappe, who is now a standout in Europe and the France national team. Although Cameron are facing the mistakes of their past, and they've learnt their lesson never to underestimate any player.

That reminds me with age fraud. This allegation was also going for cameroon football association.

No doubt if mbappe is playing for france instead of cameroon where his farther was born. Im glad to see that someone who tried to charge mbappe's father was pushing mbappe to play for france instead of cameroon.
So many scandals happened with fecafoot. This is an usual thing when corruption is ruining everything including people's dream.

Hey guys, reading little story on Kylian Mbappe who on Thursday visited Cameroon on a charity with the deaf and other familiarization visit to his father's home town. He spoke with Joseph Dion Ngute, the Cameroon's Prime Minister, he was honoured visiting and I believe this is just like the humanitarian work some influential people do

But one striking revelation was that he would have been a cameroonian player if they weren't asking his father to pay them money before allowing him to play while he still trying to fix his career and French allowed him without payment.

"At first, I wanted my son to play for Cameroon, but someone at the Cameroonian Football Federation charged me money that I didn't have to make him play," he explained. " The French charged nothing."

I have also heard of some local stories about how some coaches require money from new footballers before they allow them on trier both in their clubs and national teams. Is this happening globally for new players who are still seeking to find a spot in clubs?

Do you think Cameroun miss Mbappe or it is Mbappe that missed Cameroun ?

This is not rare at all and while it did not happen to me this happened to a friend of mine, he was really good at soccer back in our younger days and I really thought he had what it was needed to become a pro at some point, however when I asked him if he had any chance to go pro he told me he was asked for a huge sum of money in order to get the chance he needed, and since he did not had it then he never got a chance.

So it does not surprise me to read this has happened to many other people, what is surprising is that it happened to one of the players which could be considered to be the very best at the moment.

This kind of corruption always exists in a developing country, I am not surprised to hear this because I ever heard also in my country. The government must fix it immediately if they want their talented player appears on the football stage. Not only coach that need to attention, but all official football also, because if the official have one a bad person, another one will definitely follow in his footsteps, then so as to destroy the whole of team. So I think, instead of spending the money to hall Mbappe in Cameroon, better to give it for the development of their football.

This is not with football, we were able to see this with every sports. Most of the time during the time of selection players were demanded with money. This is the reality, one who is able to pay succeed playing for the country while the one who isn't able to do ends his passion for the sports or end up moving towards something else.

This doesn't happen with everyone. Apart from this there are racial discrimination. Lot many many things have changed and lot needs to change. Many able players could've missed opportunities due to the money. Very few like Mbappe will have the thought to run and find his opportunity. Not everyone does it, and that's what made him successful.

This disappointment was a disguised blessing. Had Kylian played for Cameroonian Football National Team, he would have achieved even upto 40% of what he achieved at his present age. The god of soccer wanted us to witness a raw talent, that was why that happened.
I am glad it happened but I am not sure Cameroonians are. But a true lover of football in Cameroon should also be.

Nature embedded so many talents in Africa but they mismanaged it. Starting from mineral resources to human resources. Have you taken a clear examination of the French National Team to discover how many Africans are there.
Across the internet you can only hear news of bribery and corruption to a stage you will feel they need recolonization according to Trump.

Corruption is everywhere and football is not exempted from this activity. I also heard some that you will have to bend to their will by doing same sex with some of the officials, this could be made up and is also possible because you can only defend what you know. Hence, more of the reasons why you see good player hanging around area looking for another alternative and will be in their local league and you wonder what's happening, why are they not signing this good players.

Mbape was only a fraction because he is success, there are more of these victims but they cannot open up while some are scared. I'm very sure that if it were after winning the World Cup in 2018 and ask if they will allow him play with Cameroon team, they will receive him with an open arms but France loved him and take him in with open arms and today instead of them be celebrating the World Cup winner, they are running after his vehicle still looking for the same money to dash them.

the answer to your question is very simple and can be answered with another question: why do national teams in africa not get far in the world cups and we see good african players representing other european countries? the answer is very simple: because in africa corruption has been so great for years that the presidents of federations in africa keep charging money for talented players but without much fame to be able to play in the national teams, in many cases the players of the national teams and who take money out of their pockets to pay for a plane ticket and hotel so they can go and be in the country where the national team is going to play
...

Several times over the years I have heard about corruption in African teams (not only African teams, but since we are talking about Cameroon I will focus here) and this would be a big reason why African soccer has not yet achieved more expressive results in world cups. I don't have the sources now because I don't even remember where I read it anymore, but it is the same story you are commenting on.

It is difficult to prove something, and it is also difficult to measure how much it affects the fact that players prefer to play for European teams, as is the case of Mbapeé and France, and many other Africans who have nationalized themselves to play for European countries. Probably not all players have been involved in bribery schemes.

In Brazil for example, it is quite common for coaches of smaller teams to have some kind of influence on the players, or even coaches of youth teams, under 17 and under 21, where parents with more money can pay for their son to play, or coaches who are also players' managers and favor them in the teams.
This influence decreases in big teams, but it is still a reality. Many Brazilian talents don't make it to a professional team because they couldn't pay to play, it's sad.

Goodnight, ohh Leo!!! 🦅
Cameroonian football bureau did him dirty to really have requested for cash before letting him join the national team.. and I'm just wondering how the France National team accepted him, without serious conditions and fees... Maybe they saw his talent and wanted to have him between 'em? But how?..
But, ofcourse I do know that scouts are usually walking around to pick randomly from every fostering academy..., So that might have been a chance he got through with?  Maybe...

Whoever that someone who asked for money before the player can play in a national team should be fired by the organization if they cannot fire him then there's really corruption in the Cameroonian Football Federation and this is not good for the sports of football in Cameroon, here in our country if you have the desire to be part of the national team even if you are new they will give a chance to try out and show your skill if you can be part of the national team, the government through the organization should be the paying the athlete and not the other way around.
Based on the story Mbappe is better to be with the French team because France has a good standing in the world of football and he will be compensated as a player.

Cameroon lost Mbappe. This just showed a very simple example of how corrupt the football scene is in Africa. As I've read somewhere before (I can't remember where), "They love money from Football, not Football itself". It's actually a simple case as well of something called Brain Drain, and in this case, a very straightforward (and dumb) reason as to why it happened in the first place even.

There might even be similar cases outside of Africa, but I guess it's a lot more obvious in it with an example like this. I am glad though that they lost Mbappe, chances are he might not have even rose as a star if they actually went through with it.
