To overcome depression we need be with our family and friend. We need the love that they us. And be happy always and stay busy. So that you can forget the things that makes you depress.

Hi, I just wanna ask how to overcome depression? I have a friend and she keeps telling me that she don't to live anymore and that it is better to die, she has lot of problems but she just keep it on her own, she is so depress and i can't find the right words to make her feel better. And also can't a person overcome depression on his/her own?


There are ways to overcome depression. Sometimes, having it is just the result of what we are thinking. Try to avoid over thingking and negative thoughts. It won't help you grow as a person. Keep yourself busy and focus on things where you have the potential to excel. Think of positive things that would make you a better person.

I think, this is a very sensitive topic.. Depression is a serious mental state of ones person, because this might lead to suicide. If you believe that your friend is experiencing depression, then you must be there for her/him. Explore her feelings about it. Let her express her feelings , take time to listen. If you feel that she has a suicidal thoughts, then you should accompany her to a health care provider for them to assist her.

There is nothing wrong in consulting a doctor, and in most of the cases the patient needs to take a regular dose of prescription drugs. My medicine is Meditation. Vipassana meditation which is a Buddhist Insight mediation and practise will train you to observe yourself from a distance. We are not our thoughts. But we are so caught up in our minds that we believe the story the mind is telling us. Instead of being a servant, it took control of the house. In every country there are 10 day free (by donation) Vipassana courses. Mind you, it will be very confronting for your friend. Because at some point she will realize that it her own mind 'creating' the depression. If she can accept this and finish the course without leaving in the middle. She's 3/4 on the way out. Problem with depression is: the mind is creating it and wants to sustain it. Will take some strong determination, but there is always a way out. Been there Wink.

Dealing with depression requires action, but taking action when you're depressed can be hard. Look for support from people who make you feel safe and cared for. The person you talk to doesn't have to be able to fix you; they just need to be a good listener - someone who'll listen attentively and compassionately without being distracted or judging you. Try to keep up with social  activities even if you don't feel like it. Being around other people will make you feel less depressed. Push yourself to do things even if you don't feel like it. You'll gradually feel more upbeat and energetic as you make time for fun activities. Go out with friends. Challenge negative thinking. Identify the type of negative thoughts that are fueling your depression and replace them with a more balanced way of thinking. As you cross-examine your negative thoughts, you may be surprised at how quickly they crumble. In the process, you'll develop a more balanced perspective and help to relieve your depression.

Always seek the good out of every situation and this at times may require some real action on our parts. Analyze the problems, ask why it may be happening, what you may have done to provoke or not prevent it from occurring, your options of being able to fix it and who you may have to turn to for help.

I don't think so. I have seen many of my friends suffering from depression, and drugs didn't helped them in the long term. One of my friends was taking a drug called Nexito 10mg. At first, I could notice a considerable change in his behavior. But after a few months, everything went back to the old state.

Depression was a critical stage actually, after this is suicidal. Therefore, if your in this situation you must think all the positive ways about the things that can give or make you smile like being with your love ones, family, and closest friends. So if this happen your depression level for sure will change into a good ways of thinking.

there is always a reason behind depression. unexplained or overwhelming sadness can be a symptom  of depression. and it's not easy to overcome  it. depressed people tend to see the world in a negative way. i think the best cure it is through family support, love and understanding. other ways to combat depression is to take one task at a time you will slowly rebuild your sense of self by having achieved small accomplishments like preparing a meal, tending to your grooming by showering and wearing clean clothes, listening to music and to slowly interact again with people. you have to think small so you can slowly master your domains in terms that are manageable,that are within your ability at the time. gradually you build confidence and ability to cope. all this takes patience and time. maybe even years. the road to recovery is slow. do what you can to build the inner you, one step at a time. and also try to seek professional help.

And it can substantially boost your mood and energy for several hours long enough to put a second recovery step into action, such as preparing a mood-boosting meal or arranging to meet an old friend. By taking the following small but positive steps day by day, you’ll soon soon lift the heavy fog of depression and find yourself feeling happier, healthier, and more hopeful again.

The one is eat healthy foods.  There is no magic diet that fixes depression.  It's a good idea to watch what you eat, though.  If depression tends to make you overeat, getting in control of your eating will help you feel better.  Although nothing is definitive, Cook says there's evidence that foods with omega-3 fatty acids (such as salmon and tuna) and folic acid (such as spinach and avocado) could help ease depression. And don't forget to get enough sleep. Depression can make it hard to get enough shut-eye, and too little sleep can make depression worse.
