I think it is worth taking the top 10 and invest!It can give very good profit and profitability for today.Good returns can swing more stable coins, although you can take a risk !
I would suggest not to invest into the single coin but to choose TOP-3/4 crypto assets (in capitalization perspective) and distribute the means over them. Currently, these assets are BTC, ETH, and XRP.

I wont advise you to buy any coins at ICO neither will I advice you to invest in other altcoins. For now ETH is way down to $400 and you can buy 1ETH and even use the rest to buy BTC and thank me later. Or you can even do it the vice versa.

What's the best way to diversify starting with $500. I am overwhelmed right now with all the coins i am interested in. I'm just not sure if i should be only focused on the top 10 or can i pick xxx coin that's ranked between #40-#150. I can say i like about 15-20 coins/tokens i just feel that's way to many for $500. I would like to put half in blue chip coin and invest in some alts with the remaining half. I was thinking put $50 into 4 atls???

With this amount, I will suggest you invest in altcoin with low prices as the price of coin are low now or you invest in very good icos but please take time to do a proper research about the projects before you invest in it to avoid being scammed.
